So wait there is a deck boss and experienced people on deck, and the captain watching and somehow no one notices they’re dumping pots without bait until they come up? That’s not a rookies fault, that’s everyone who is supposed to teach them and being in charge failing.

worked with one of the main DC cameramen on another project he was working on in 2014. He said they spend literally 90% of the day going through the motions without anything worth filming and sometimes if it's been 3 or 4 days without any content worth capturing they'll write up a scenario and stage it. He said probably less than 10% of what makes it to final cut is a "real" situation or if it is, it's extremely dramatized with quick cuts and music.
@@pappy451 im an idiot. Having done a ton of reality shows, mostly dating, I am always shocked people fall for Gordon Ramsay or any "reality show".... But how exactly do they fake this?
I can see staged fights and what not but no way guys are intentionally not baiting their cages

I can't see how any of them missed not seeing the pots filled with bait. I'm sure they seen them not filled with bait but didn't care because it's not them.
So cap noticed the baits sacks were going in the pots half full which led to him going on deck to reprimand both greenhorns but he failed to notice the two pots not being baited? What am i missing?
What do you expect, these people are tired and miserable. The bigger fool is the captain and deck boss for not putting in place systems to ensure all goes smoothly..

Sounds like a training problem to me which starts at the top. I’ve been a Captain for 26 years and have never once cussed a crewman.

You are 100 % right. It starts at the top and blaming the rookies for traps going over without bait should have the deck boss fired in my opinion. I worked on a boat my entire life and captains who are hot heads and scream , blames his crew for everthing are the ones who go threw multiple crew memebers and wonders why. I would never work for a captain like that.

Why are Mouse and Soper and everyone else not noticing that pots aren't being baited? Why isn't Keith discussing the matter with them? Why aren't they discussing the matter with the green horns? This doesn't add up.

Who is on first, who is on second. The two greenhorns are only as good as they are trained. It's up to the deck boss to keep an eye on the operation to make sure they are doing their jobs.

So let me get this straight, no one supervised the two new guys doing an important job for crab fishing, and then while dropping the pots, not a single person saw there was not only 0 bait buckets, but no cod hanging? Sounds like a failiure of the boats crew altogether, not just the greenhorns

yeah seems like just drama for the show. also just because it's your job to do something don't mean it's your responsibility. the responsibility lands on the supervisors not the normal workers. workers are responsible for doing the job but it's the supervisors that are responsible of it being done right. this is just one of those moments where supervisors or anyone should have noticed.

Seems like another scripted moment for Deadliest Catch. Youve got 3 other experienced deck hands and boss, a season captain, and they allowed for these pots to be cut loose without bait? I dont believe it. Its not the first time this show has had obviously scripted moments.

So, the capt didn't spot it, the deck boss didn't spot it, nevermind experienced people along with the green horns...This was a total lack of supervision.
What I don't understand is how the mor experienced. Guys are actually sending those pots over with no bait in them. Like, are they blind? Send in the pots over without looking?
Every last one of them are at fault, for not catching that, including the Captain or the other guys noticed, but said nothing, so they would get in trouble. Either way they are all pathetic for being miserable people and taking it out on the new guys!
