    I absolutely love your documentation of your journey thru Australia; Just lovely friendly "Real"people, not superficial, pretentious 'influencers'... Yeah just a lovely friendly couple who appreciate this planet and showcase reality !!!
    In 1976 I drove the Nullarbor and 300 mile of dirt road before they sealed the road; drove to Melbourne with Mum n Dad to visit Mum's brother, and it was some adventure; never drove it again, can't beat fly n hire car 😂
    If you want to see herds of kangaroos go for a night drive at moderate speed 'tourist' drive along the old highway and a little away from settlement. The Roo's don't move around in the heat of daylight, they find shade n sleep but they do come out in cool of the night to feed; that's why you DON'T journey at night as you might wear a big Roo in the front seat with you !! 🤣🤣

    • @vincentpadula4543
      @vincentpadula4543 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also re approaching a Kangaroo; Never stand in front of a Roo ONLY stand alongside a Roo; Because if you stand in front of a Roo and for whatever reason the Roo becomes 'spooked' it's main form of defense is to lean back on it's tail and rip your body open with its 2 big toes.
      The reason you stand alongside the Roo is because if the Roo looks like making an aggressive move you have time to also move; Be aware a kangaroo cannot walk backwards !!

    It's great to see you both enjoying the trip. I drove from Perth to Singleton, 3870 km, with my Army unit, 22 Const Squadron, in 1988. Most of us drove Unimogs, along with Mack haulers and Landrovers, it was a loooong trip in the Unimogs with a top speed of 91 KMH, it took us 7 days plus one full day rest in Kimba . After 8 weeks on exercise we turned around and headed back to Perth. We drove over the last 80 km stretch of unpaved road on that stretch. Both across and back we stayed at Nullabor Village and it rained both times. I have actually crossed the Country 4 times but all in 1988, 2 x by Army Unimog, once in my car (2.5 days across... Flat out) and once in a bus/coach 4 DAYS!!!!!( never do it by bus/coach). The trips (except the bus) were some of the great moments of my life. You have brought back lots of memories.

    Night time driving across the Nullarbor is a whole different experience. The entire trip can be spent dodging roos, rabbits, few dingoes and the camel warning signs aren't a joke. Especially when you see two camels trot right out Infront of you, your speed tends to slow down rather dramatically.

    Don't stress that you're not showing and/or commenting on Australian cuisine, there's a tonne of other travel vlogs on TH-cam doing that and to be honest it all becomes same ol' same ol' after a while.
    You guys are doing great 👍
    I can say that I've seen a lot of things in my life, but I can't say that I've ever seen someone decide to stop halfway along the Nulla and give someone a driving lesson; you crazy cats are too much 🤣
    From an Australian's pov it's actually really nice to see foreigners over here actually taking the time to 'see' the country and not just making a bee line for the big cities as such. You both seem to have such a laid back attitude so you can rest assured that you'll get along just fine with any Aussies that you come across on your adventures over here.
    FWIW I've seen a LOT of videos, TV shows etc from different people traveling all over this country throughout the years and yet I have seen at least 3 places mentioned in your last two vids that I have never seen or heard of before; that's gotta say something.
    Keep up the good work & the good vibes and all the best moving forward 👍
    PS: Sorry from all us Aussies re slow internet speeds: that's one I'll never figure out considering we invented the bloody thing lol.

    Well done Tia with the driving. Lots, and I mean lots of people when they learn to drive actually do what we call "Kangaroo the Cluch". The reason for the name is that the car hops as the driver messes up the clutch release, so you really did well not "Kangarooing the Clutch".

    I first did the Nullabor plain around 1970 as a child with my parents and brothers (I was 8, brothers were 10 and 12). We crossed that old dirt road towing a "caravanette", which is basically a fold-out canvas caravan on a metal trailer. Pretty sure that we would have stopped at that old abandoned roadhouse. I've done the Nullabor countless times since (and love it every time) but that first experience will always be my favourite!

    • @stephen6556
      @stephen6556 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did exactlly the same in the 1970's with my family. I was about the same age and remember the dirt road with pot holes. I remember that abandoned roadhouse with the creaking door that felt like being in the wild west. The chooks would walk around free outside. I still remember going inside with my mum and buying coca cola while my dad was getting the car refilled. We also towed a pop up caravan. Great memories to have when Australia felt more of a wild adventure.

    Hi Tia, I need to tell you something about your steering reactions. When you want to turn, keep your hands around the outside of the steering wheel. Never put your fingers on the inside of the wheel, because if you’re ever in an accident or smack into something, the steering wheel can react and spin, catching your fingers and injuring your hands as it spins out of your control. It may never happen, but just in case, get out of that habit of steering from the inside. 🥰🇦🇺

Most people live in the big capital cities but in between there are huge huge huge places that are untamed, wild, natural and beautiful. The combination of great nature, people and modern cities are what make each of the state capitals in the list of top 20 most liveable cities in the world with Melbourne at number 1 and Sydney at number 2 for several years in the past.

    My Great great uncle and his family lived at Head of Bight for several years. He worked at Yalata Station. I have family at Ceduna as well. You are nearly there, great job.

    I cannot imagine I will ever get to the Nullarbor. Thank you so much for sharing this, I am really enjoying it! Cheveyo, nice job teaching Tia how to drive a manual, you explain well and seem very calm! Hills are next! 😉 Tia, really nice job on your first try! Thank you both for all your wonderful content!!! Have fun!!!

    I grew up driving stick 30 years ago, but after watching this, I had to go through the motions to remember how to do it.

    West Aussie here. I've flown over the great Australian bite countless times on Qantas but never seen it first hand, thanks for sharing your travels. Are you planning on doing the Great Ocean Rd ? ( Adelaide to Melbourne). I sure hope so , I think it would suit your travel vlog style very much

    I didn't get to fully enjoy my drive across the Nullarbor cause it was 42°C every day and we were on a mission to meet family on the other side, so it's really nice watching your videos and catching up on what I missed. I did get to see alive kangaroos during my drive, which was nice. We took a detour to Cocklebiddy Cave and kangaroos were hopping everywhere along the road. A 4WD is definitely needed for that drive.

    Love your adventures nearly as much as you. Thanks for bringing them to us.
    BTW, Nullarbor is Latin for 'no trees'

    Hey Guys, Just found your channel and looking forward to seeing what you get up to in Australia. Kangaroos " or skippy"s" tend to be on the roads early morning or evening, so if your driving around at that time, you will see one - But as a local, this is not the best time to travel and can be dangerous!
    FYI, when you get to queensland, I have the perfect place for you to see kangaroos, but hopefully you have seen one by then :)

    The old highway had gates that you had to get out and open and close and the trip was broken up with water tank stops as well.

    Another top quality video from you guys, thanks so much for showing me parts of my country that I may never get to see. I live in NSW so getting there is not going to happen for a long time, so thank you so much for these great videos. 🇦🇺

    Great Video. Love the vibe you two give off. Infectious. (in a good way) I first crossed the Nullarbor in the early 70's before it was completely sealed. It had ruts that could rip your wheels off.

    @0:52 Halfway??? you were at the border of WA and SA, that's not halfway, more like 1/3, I don't think you've fully comprehended how big Australia is yet, don;t worry plenty of time for that, have fun discovering.
    Glad to see you realised by the end of the video.

    I think since Japan you have changed from tourist videos to travel videos. Am loving these vids. Been 40 years since i did that trip and you are making me thinking of doing it again. Good choice Tia to not camp at nullabor as you would of bent all tent pegs trying to get them in the ground. Maybe next time in a town with a camping store grab a few big pegs . Well done with these trips.

    Hi guys, love your channel. Come and visit us in Long Beach, NSW. There are dozens of kangaroos hopping around the village and if you don't shut the gates at night, they come into the back yard, usually mums with their joeys, to mow the grass.
