      Why is it wonderful to see a female photographer profiled? Very strange comment. It's like me saying "It is wonderful to finally see a photographer with red shoes profiled!". What's going on in your head?

    Great images.. I would some day like to return to Berlin to see it now. I was stationed at Sembach AB. in then west Germany and the only time I visited Berlin was near the end of 1989 when the wall came down.

    What made this wonderful, for me, was to see her looking at physical prints. It's nice to know what instruments she used to make her photograph, but what does she use to print? That would be more interesting to me.

    What I take from this, is that right eyed Leica users shoot in landscape format, while those of us whose left eyes are dominant, are going to mainly shoot portrait.

    • @johnelder7449

      She is left eye dominant which makes here holding the camera look unusual. I shoot a leica and if I was left eye dominant, I would shoot the camera upside down so the finder would be in the lower right corner and my non dominant eye would still be able to see.

  • @philipfreedman615

    Very interesting and stimulating. Especially that many shots are vertical and since she is left-eyed it looks that she uses her thumb to press the shutter.

    Always thought that it was impossible to shoot rangefinder cameras as a left eye photographer. Apparently I was wrong.

    • @Tom_YouTube_stole_my_handle
      @Tom_YouTube_stole_my_handle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm left eyed, it's never been a problem. It means I can keep my right eye open and relaxed but without being distracted by objects seen through it. I've always thought it must be a bit odd to use the right eye, even though I accept that's what manufacturers build for. The only time it has ever been a problem with Leica is on the film Ms where the film advance pokes in your face unless you keep it flush with the body.

    • @PrideSwim
      @PrideSwim 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tom_TH-cam_stole_my_handle Next time I go into a Leica store and pretend I one day might buy one, I'll try shooting in portrait and using my thumb on the shutter button, like the photographer in this video. I wonder how she goes changing shutter speeds?

    • @Tom_YouTube_stole_my_handle
      @Tom_YouTube_stole_my_handle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PrideSwim With her index finger from the front of the camera assuming she wanted to do it with the camera to her eye. I suspect though that she just picks a shutter speed beforehand and turns the dial between finger and thumb. Adjusting the aperture with the camera to the eye is a more intuitive Leica way.

    You do not become a better photographer just because you use a specific camera. The images come into being first through your conscious and observing eyes and then in your mind. Pressing the release button comes later. In most cases you, the photographer, have to accept that the camera is not delivering the results that you expected, i.e. the results that you were visualizing in your mind. This is something that comes with patience and experience.
    By the way, I didn't like the images in this footage because, to me, they all are lacking originality and a clear statement. Even though all those images were made by a Leica!

      @@vasilakiz - this may be an interlectual joke on the English idiom "it's all Greek to me," that those Anglosaxons or Danecelts say when they don't understand something. But he writes it in Greek now. What is he saying? I understand something that nobody else would - as cultural chauvinism? Or is he saying that he does not understand a story told in a language he is capable of, yet the message does not land with him? You tell me.

    Quotenfrau - Berlin - 80% Geschwurbel - 18 % Leica - 2% brauchbare Fotos. Schade, dass Leica nur bei den Kameras auf Qualität achtet, bei den unterstützten Fotografen leider gar nicht mehr. Besonders hier hat man das Gefühl "wir brauchen jetzt ums Verrecken eine Frau für`s Marketing und die Quote. Nimm die nächst beste Knipserin ums Eck".......Cartier-Bresson würde sich im Grab umdrehen
