The main draw for the concept figures for me, is just how much freedom they have with the figures. I could care less about a cybertronian vehicle mode, it can be a brick and it would make sense. But they can sacrifice that vehicle for an immaculate robot mode
"Megatron must be bought... no matter the cost." Edit: As Clawhauser from _Zootopia_ would say, "O-M-Goodness!" I typed my comment just to tell everyone that I'm planning to get this Megatron figure, but I didn't expect my comment to get SO many likes! 😅 Thank you so much, guys!
I, personally, think this Megatron is well worth the price in every regard. >High amounts of articulation, including individually articulated index fingers and butterfly joints in the shoulders. >No loose joints or general QC issues outside of a mid at best jet mode, and that's only because his arms don't peg in right on the underside. >Plenty of engineering to ensure he's got a metric ton of fanmode potential, from a gun and a three-legged turret to Robots In Disguise 2001-inspired Hand and Elephant modes. >Great paintwork and detailing. Dare I say it, he's basically the perfect figure. I don't think I'll ever want or need another Megs after this.
I'm gonna be one of the few people who likes the jet mode. Megatron has had a slew of bizarre cybertronian jet modes, and this one's the best as far as I'm concerned. transformation to jet mode takes getting used to, but it has a dedicated and defined nose cone and cockpit section, wings, and thrusters which is more than prime or animated can say for their Megatron's cybertron modes. Mounting the fusion cannon underneath not only looks natural, but it matches the under-slung guns the BBM seekers have, which really sells the idea that the decepitcons in this line are outfitted to take out ground targets, seeing as most autobots are land vehicles. And it just looks like a big, threatening aircraft, the kind megatron would turn into.
I really like his jet. I don’t know what about it I like, but I know I like it. Not as good as TLK’s jet, but there something about it that makes me like it way more than TF1’s.
Actually, it turns out that there was a Blitzwing Megatron in the form of Marauder Megatron, meant to be sold alongside the never-made 4th season of Transformers Animated. Looking at the resin version of the toy, IT had a really nice plane mode.
It’s been about a decade since I last played Fall of Cybertron, but as soon as I heard the first note of those brass instruments, I immediately knew that was the title theme.
Hasbro: heres a triple changer studio series bumblebee movie megatron Me: alright i dont care much The toy: i have forearm swivels and hip skirting that actually goes out of the way (as opposed to standard hip skirting, examplified by the yolopark amk pro megatron) Me: take my money!
I wish mine would come anytime before March 3rd 😢 I always display my Transformers in Robot mode so them making that the priority with this Megatron makes me happy. I still like transforming Transformers but I just prefer Robots to vehicles in my display.
I think what could've justified the price point other than the engineering would probably be some weapon accessories calling back to G1. Like maybe a mace, a sword as you said, or an extra gun to mount on his back to give him that g1 silhouette. Other than those nitpicks, I hope to my wallet and back account I get my hands on this thing.
I got him yesterday, and I’m in love. He was sitting in a cart at target, not even on the shelf, just like a cart used for restocking. I was worried he wouldn’t ring up, but I got him for 40 bucks. I’m a big fan.
I fall into an extremely niche demographic of people who want a figure with this robot mode, but that somehow transforms into a jet that more closely resembles the 2007 Megs jet mode. I really like that jet mode he had in that movie, and I'd love to see some connective tissue there.
To make a back gun piece like he had in g1, take ss rotb scourges canon, take off the 2 pieces on ball joints, and stick the cannon on his back. Trust me it looks awesome.
1st honest review of this guy, that does not have the "I have it!" excitement?? possibly. GREAT review bro. good job. I told myself I was NOT hunting this one down or paying over retail. Glad I waited.
Honestly, both his altmodes are really cool. His Jet mode is the best one & looks the least like an afterthought. The Tank mode is pretty cool, but with a few tweaks, it would be perfect. & overall his botmode, & both altmodes are amazing, & I'd say are worth the $55 (USD) price. Especially that beautiful bot mode!!
I want this guy soooo much, but here in America he’s practically not out yet. He is out but he ether out of stock or already got up in price by 3 billion percent, so I’m gunna wait a bit. While I wait I’m gunna look for mpm barricade and bonecrusher.
3:02 Right before watching this video, I had recently found my Earthrise Cliffjumpers bazooka thing and I was like "Hey, I've been trying to find a suitable back cannon for Meg's." so I put it on... And it's actually perfect. That Toy Guy, if you got an Earthrise Cliff hanging around and don't mind giving up his bazooka, putting it on Megatron looks fantastic.
it is when you look at the dinobots etc, it its a matter on whether a budget would work. if they made it a voyager, it probably would not likely be a triple changer. people have also discovered 3 other fan modes.@@etonymous1632
This Megatron is surprisingly similar to the design for Transformers Universe Megatron. The treads going up through his legs, the general silhouette, the red parts on his shins etc. I would absolutely love to see Transformers Universe characters in gamer edition because the game had all original characters despite it never leaving beta.
I was actually able to get this guy for $38 at my local target, the price wasn’t marked down on the shelf but when it was rung up apparently it was on sale
If I had paid that when I got mine at target 2 days ago i would probably keep him, but at over $60 after taxes this one is going back. Its just not worth bothering to transform him to anything but his bot mode and that's not worth the price I paid to me at all. I already have 26 better Megatrons.
my only nitpick of the design is the head sculpt. its too broken up and hard to make out the face. specifically in the cheekbones and mouth. should have been simplified it.
The robot mode is amazing little kibble nit pic is the mis matched colour on the fusion canna but very nice overall, the tank and jet don’t hit as well. The tank is alright the turret section is a bit weak and gappy but it’s passable, the jet idk the wings seem small and is wonky the fan modes are superior especially a tankor look tank alt mode or the gun. A triple changing megatron is cool but this might’ve been better as a voyager with just 1 alt mode
My wait for this figure felt like an eternity (joke intended), and I’ve not been able to put him down. Yes he was expensive for us Canadians but let me tell you man, I can’t believe this is a Hasbro release. The INSANE articulation, paint, sculpt work, and engineering happening on this one figure absolutely blows me away. I do agree that his alt modes aren’t amazing and he needed more accessories (gave mine Gamer Megatron’s mace), but good lord what a toy to get from a retail line. He easily holds the title of my favourite & best Studio Series Bayverse figure for the time being.
Is this going to be my fate? Is the rest of my life going to be Megatrons with piles of cyberjank for alt modes? Robot mode is a chef's kiss with an unwholesome amount of tongue. The concept art personified Megatron the warrior-general and the robot mode of this toy fully understood the assignment. But those altmodes... I feel like they exist to give Blitzwings of all stripes and generations something to point at when they say "I want to be a tank and a plane, but NOT THAT." But if I still collected? I would buy this Megs and proudly display him stepping on a downed Autobot. Dunno which one, probably one that looks like they might be enjoying it. Ok, an Autobot or Starscream.
I like the idea of a triple changing Megaton, tho part of me wishes they had just picked one alt mode and invested the engineering budget into making it look more cohesive than trying to cram in two kind of "meh" vehicle modes.
By the looks the community of TH-cam reviewers don't like the figure but most of the comments says otherwise. I like it, the look is like mix of Megatron and Terminator and so are the vehicles. The articulation is fantastic for a transformer and the butterfly joints actually work, unlike others where they are just more cosmetic than useful.
This is the only leader class I ever paid full retail price for, and man, is he damn worth it imo. The articulation and beauty of his bot mode is my perfect blend of classic and movie. Although the alt modes are indeed “not quite there”, the fanmodes save it for me. The figure easily replaces my TLK Megs, the posing goes wild and he actually feels solid and man. Definitely way better in hand, flawed but FUN. I can actually mess around with him as a toy and as a display piece. That’s what Studio Series ought to be nowadays. If KOs do come about, it’ll be fun to make a custom Miner variant, or even WFC inspired gladiator.
Here in America Amazon is charging $180 plus dollars per figure on these and a big bad toy store. They're like $56, and on Hasbro's website the MSRP on the figure itself is $55
The one thing I will say about this Megatron is that given what they accomplished here, makes me hopeful as to what can a Studio Series TLK Megatron can be like
Christmas Starbucks! going in! going out out! man ever since i seen that comment about what the music sounds like i cant ever unhear it now, btw this megatron is glorious, i need him
1:41 bro can we stop the Legacy Blitzwing hate? It’s a bit wonky, sure; but it’s still a really fun toy. Mine broke (little kids were over), and I bit the bullet, and bought a second one. Worth it.
Thanks for the nice review. Studio Series Gamer Edition Megatron was good fun, but with those gimped knees of his, he gave me an itch for a more articulated Megatron - and this toy seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. I'm kinda sad he didn't come with a sword as well, especially since he has the wrist joint for it, but hey - that's what I've got my other figures for. And wow, I have to try out some of those fanmodes when I get him.
I'm always late in terms of buying figures for the actual retail price, lol. I honestly don't think it's worth $70+ that people are selling him for. The same goes for that 102bb Optimus.
I low key hate how this figure looks With the hard to see mouth. Then the all right at best tank, the half hazard plane thingy, and the low exesery count kinda make this toy a pass for me.
I bought it hoping it was better than some pics made it look. It's significantly worse. After transforming it to both modes I boxed him up to return for a refund. Not nearly worth $60, to me anyway.
Wow, this was a figure that I went "oh that's neat" and then never really gave a second thought. But I'm genuinely impressed after watching this, the alt modes I agree are pretty meh, but you get two of them and they're decent enough. But the robot mode looks really solid. Once you started going into the levels of articulation my ears perked up like "hold on, wait a sec" lol Im ultimately not a fan of the face sculpt which is common with movie guys to me, but overall the articulation, detail and paint are really tempting. Definitely a clearance watch now
Anxiously awaiting mine. I do hear you on the jet mode but I'm fine with just the tank mode. Even so, that Cybertronian jet is immeasurably better than TFTM Megs, ROTF Megs, or BB Soundwave's alt mode.
Finally got him from my preorder and he’s excellent. He is in my top 10 best Studio Series of all time now. I’ve been wanting a G1 inspired Megatron Studio Series figure for a while and this figure does it justice.
For me it sucks because I live in Australia everything is so much more expensive like megatron costs $100 and the rise of the beasts optimist finally got to Australia and is $55! But all that aside good video
I'm actually one of the few who adores the jet mode and dislikes the tank. The inability to actually roll with wheels and the turret's weird point of pivot kill it for me, which is a shame, coz I was looking forward to that tank mode. By contrast, I adore the evil space warbird mode. Mine does slightly behave with the arm tabs, but that's probably because I sanded them a bit, so they sit more flush inside the tab slots, and are thus more secure. So, as far as I'm concerned, the tank mode is more of a fixed cannon emplacement, while his main transport mode is the jet. But yeah, this kills EVERY CHUG Megatron for me, and I doubt 86 or even Animated will beat this for me, though we'll see with the latter, coz that still has the better aerial alt mode.
I say it is worth the full price. If this would be a 3P toy, it would easily cost double. There's no hollows, he'd dense. And finally, not only he look good, move superbly well. The cherry on top is all the fan modes you can pull off.
Got mine from Amazon CA last weekend. Size makes him a bit underwhelming at LC price, until you really look at the detail, paint articulation next to most other Leader class figures. Succeeds wonderfully as an action figure in how solid he and posable he is but not so much as a transformer as both modes don't feel worth the process to get there. Though the tank mode does present, and holds together fairly well it's passable at best. Reminds me of the thrilling 30s Blitzwing in how the arms form the turret. Side note. The canon can be pegged into the back and extended for the over the shoulder look very easily.
Today I beat scalpers. Last night I was genuinely considering spending 71$ on just pre-ordering the figure, however I convinced myself that I was going to find him at some point at my local target. I decided to go a little bit further to a different Target and when I arrived they had nothing except for Shockwave and WFC Starscream, then it hit me to check behind the large boxy Optimus Prime toy that never sells and there he was! I got him for a LEGIT BARGIN. 41$.

If a good-looking robot mode is the only thing that gets priority, might as well release a non-transforming figure and cut out the fluff.

You would think that, and then they release BB Soundwave and Shockwave with less articulation than your average voyager.

Is it possible to use primal’s chain and battletrap’s mace to make his flail from g1? That might look real cool
For me it sucks because I live in Australia everything is so much more expensive like megatron costs $100 and the rise of the beasts optimist finally got to Australia and is $55! But all that aside good video
As far as the jet mode goes, the word you're looking for is "Afterthought" my guy. Because that's.. Yeah lol. Great review regardless though!
ToyGuy is so right. FOC music fits Megatron soooo much better than BBM music
I just got a ko of this figure from AliExpress for less than half price including shipping and couldn’t be happier with him 👍🏻
Cool ass intro dude
Yep this is one of the best megatron figure alright
I’ve seen this guy also become a jet pack for prime it’s awesome
I say it is worth the full price. If this would be a 3P toy, it would easily cost double. There's no hollows, he'd dense.
And finally, not only he look good, move superbly well. The cherry on top is all the fan modes you can pull off.
I gotta wait til April for mine off Amazon
Honestly I just want him cause I saw a metal gear fan mode. A metal gear transformer would be the coolest shit.
That intro... That was beautiful
Good luck getting this on discount or in stores in general.
I would love to have a $60 Yolopark model kit of this design, would be sick!
that gun mode goes hard, i must buy him
So are we not gonna talk about the fact that tbe head is just...there? And not in a ROTF good way
In my opinion i honestly like that this figures mouth is impossible to see because it gives the illusion that he sort of has a mask
If they could've added some propellers, it could've looked a lot like Animated Megs.
how did you do the fan modes at the end? besides the gun mode, theres already a video on how to do that mode.
Megs to my wallet:
"Today you will answer for the choice between me and your budget. One shall stand, one shall fall"
