@@stuckpencil2509 You don't understand how pollution works. A car can put just as much pollution out and more than a truck. Doesn't go by the size it goes by how efficiently it runs. Also, you have no right to tell other people what to do, you ain't perfect.

I've wanted a truck since I was a little boy. I'm almost 35 years old, still have never had one, but am hoping to get one soon. My contractor father-in-law and others say I don't need one and it's just because I'm a millennial. It's so frustrating. If I love trucks and have always wanted one, it's as simple as that. Just let me be me.

A few months ago a member made a post about him lowering his runner, doing some body work and tucking the wheels. That guy got run off the forum. I could not believe how cruel the forum members were to this guy because he lowered a 4runner instead of lifting it. I felt bad for him.

“I know I told you all that I would never review a Honda Ridgeline” is a direct quote from a previous video. I find it odd that one would rant about how anyone can and should choose the vehicle of their liking but in the same breath make back handed comments and predetermined judgements of the Ridgeline prior to actually driving one. I get that it’s not a dualie and can’t tow as much as a full size truck but it makes trips to the big box and hardware stores just the same.

Exactly. I don't need a pick up but i just really like them. I do occasionally use it for the type of things its meant to but most of the time i'll use it as a regular car. If i had to choose between a brand new high end car and any used 2014 pick up i'll still go for the truck

Another thing is, a truck is such a versatile vehicle, it can mean many things to many people. There are as many ways to use a truck (towing, hauling, work, recreation, family, utility, farming, construction, moving, deliveries, truck enthusiast, off road, etc.) as there are people that own them. With virtually unlimited ways to use it, who is to say which is the correct / best way for you? If the truck is meeting your expectations, it IS the correct vehicle for you. Better to have this capability when, and where you need it.
Besides which, generally, the more people join the community, the better off it is. More enthusiasm can't hurt!

I mostly agree with you. However. I’m they kind of person that likes using their things as closely to it’s intended purpose as possible. Not saying it has to be used all the time, I just like when my truck actually is used to tow something or my ATV is used to help with work. I love my truck but don’t think I’d want it if it was used like a Camry it’s whole life, and the ATV gets boring when it’s just ridden around.

I have a F-150 for the following reasons: one of the safest vehicles on the road, near 700 mile range, fits the family comfortably, can haul or tow if needed, easy to find replacement parts for cheap, 0-60 running with sports cars yet can jump a curb without breaking and designed to drive off road, 8 cup holders because you can never have too many, tons of storage, super quiet and drives nice, has 110v outlets that come in handy... it’s a very practical vehicle and that’s why there are more trucks sold than anything else.

It is the freedom of personal choice a primary reason why we have a growing economy. If we did not have choice, the economy would not grow. If someone wants to but a new $80,000 truck, then they are helping the economy. I will be happy to help the economy on the used truck market and buy their trade in. For me, I cannot justify an $80,000 truck, but I probably can justify a $42,000 2500 Silverado with a gas motor, extended cab and short bed. This is MY personal choice, not anybody else's.

EXCELLENT ! Spot on. I have always had a pickup since I started driving (30+ years ago). I have a pickup simply because I LIKE PICKUPS! I don't have much of a "need" for a pickup , I hardly ever haul anything in it . (I actually have a van that I use for my work) . I just love pickups. Always have since I was a kid.
I should also add , I like 2wD , regular cab trucks with a long bed. That's just my preference . I'd sooner have that than any super-car , Bugatti , Lamborghini , Jaguar , etc.
I have had a number of pickups over the years . Had a dually for many years (a regular cab 4x2 F350 , 86) . I certainly don't need the capacity of a dually , I just liked the truck and it served me well for many years .
On nice hot , clear nights in the summer , me and my Lady go for drives at night . We chuck a bunch of cushions and quilts and blankets in the back of the pickup and find a secluded spot , maybe a field or track somewhere miles away from the town and city lights. We spend the night lying in the back looking at the stars.
THAT is the best possible use for a pickup for sure! Doesn't get much better than that.

I totally agree, the freedom of choice is the best part of life. We all justify the decisions we make in our own minds with our personal reasoning. That’s all as it should be, it’s just becomes a problem when others expect you to follow the same reasoning they used. They want you to go down the same rabbit hole they went down.

Do I tow it every day? No. Do I shoot my firearms every day? No. But like you state it is my prerogative to own them. I don't golf, but I do not begrudge anyone that does and owns the top of the line set of clubs, that is their right.

I personally just find a truck is the best all around vehicle for me.... I do tow, haul a snowmobile or use the box of the truck for stuff.... Aside from that, when I’m not using it as a “truck”, I find the interior super comfortable, roomy and quiet. Whether I’m driving a truck with my 26’ trailer behind it, hauling grass in the back or simply driving it to get groceries, I think a truck is perfect all around!! I don’t listen to what others say about only owning a truck for doing truck stuff.... I don’t bug people who buy cars or other vehicle I think are useless, so leave us who drive trucks alone!! My 2 cents anyway....

I don't pay to register my gun every year. I don't pay insurance for it every month either. Difference between one time expense vs daily expense. Ya, you need shells if you use it, but you also buy gas when you use the truck. With that said, I'll buy a truck even if i rarely use it as a truck. I get 4x4 every if I don't use it much. However, I do use 4x4 daily.

I believe everything you say in this rant with the exception of truck prices. All they reflect is the maximum the market will bear. However, automakers will continue to push towards the $100,000 truck mark because there are people willing to pay that. Just because there are people willing to pay that doesn't mean the vehicle is worth that. It's artificially hyped mixed with price gouging.

    • @rick19871000
      @rick19871000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

John Automakers are pushing and pushing for that $100k and we as consumers are letting it happen. Because people have the mindset that they “want” trucks for whatever the reason (nothing wrong with that) and thats why automakers and dealers price out vehicles the way they are now because people “want” them. but when it comes to a local contractor that “needs” a new pickup to move material and tools to the next job site they are forced to pay the 50k for a 3/4 ton base line truck, There customers ask why the prices of there services are so high because the cost of a needed tool (a truck) is so damn expensive. My opinion buy what you want but we don’t need to pay these prices. These prices are outrageous, and they are taking advantage of the work man.

Yeah, at the point I knew I needed a more spacious vehicle. This summer I'm planning on getting a F150; and perhaps a lite travel trailer later for just the wife and I. Point is, once you get used to a particular "anything", it's hard to go backwards. My Mountaineer have served me well over the years and even if I don't get the trailer, just knowing that the F150 is capable of doing ANY job that I need it to puts a smile on my face.

I bought mine with pulling an enclosed trailer and a pair of motorcycles around with. Also, my father and I do work on our rental properties. My trade in, rebates and my dad working for Ford got me a reasonable price on a good looking, well equipped vehicle. I thoroughly enjoy my purchase. Still getting used to the size. As it's my first personal truck. I drive tractor-trailer for a living, and I'm used to big vehicles. There's a learning curve on these things though. I wish I bought it 5 years ago.
I'm sure it'll get used like a truck sooner or later. But it's a nice daily driver for Northeast Ohio.

Ok, so people’s argument for sports cars should be the same thing, right? People that own those should be racing them hard and racing them often, right? Point is- in this great nation we live in we have lots of great freedoms. One of them is the freedom to chose. Great topic. Thanks for sharing...

When I owned a truck, I put a hard tonneau cover on it and thought of it as a car with a 6.5 foot trunk. :-) I actually carried my mountain bike under the locked cover at all times. It worked well because it allowed me to do my hobby any time I had a free hour. Now I have to plan for it and go by the house to get the bike on a rack. I can't park a truck in the crowded lot at work these days or I would probably still have one.

Yep. I just bought myself a used 2006 Ram 1500 for my family’s needs whenever, whether it’s hauling people, groceries, bikes, or even the once in a blue moon towing.. no real off-roading since it is a RWD. It’s a very multipurpose vehicle just like an SUV.
Hell, any car can do a lot of work.

Well, I probably don't need the 2017 5.0 powered F150. Or my 100hp Harley Softail Deluxe. Or a PS4. Or a 70 inch TV. But the cool thing is this, you buy what you like, I'll buy what I like. And if it pisses you off that I bought a 2017 F150 as my daily driver, just so you know, I bought it because I could. I didn't even need it. I barely use it as a truck. However, I really like it so far and you go drive what you like. If you own a truck, do with it as you please. I only wish I bought the thing 5 years ago, so when it was paid for , I could buy a Mustang I didn't need. Sooer or later I'll be buying a a Harley Bagger of some sort. I don't need that either.
Love the reviews, very entertaining. Keep up the good work.

I want a 1988-1998 crew cab dually 3/4 ton so bad but I cannot justify buying one because, I will rarely use it and it would just set most of the time. But I wouldn’t negatively judge someone if they did that and could spend the money and not miss it.

Haha. This video is sooo Texas. I really enjoyed it and you are right. I don't care if you buy an $88,000 dually and never haul a thing because frankly it's nobody else's business. I might think it's foolish and a waste of money but more power to ya. We still live in a free world so go wherever your heart and wallet take you.

Yes this is a smart man. Personally do I need a truck. No. Honestly I would have been much better off and richer with a car. But I’m happy. I love it. Despite the fact it’s big, bulky, and expensive I love trucks puts a big smile on my face.

'Murica! I've driven my Fords from the '69 F150, my '79s, a 2002, and my current 2008. I like my trucks for the relative crashworthiness, one of the reasons both of my kids drive pu's I'm glad and proud to say. My daughter was hit from the rear at a light and ended up punching a hole in the front of the car that hit her while knocking some of the mud off of her truck. Both kids haul stuff fro their friends and I haul stuff as needed as well. I quietly laugh when I see someone with their smug econo mini-mobile hauling a mattress, bicycles or whatever tied to the roof. I could go on, but won't, your video says it, thanks.

Its my daily driver and we haul hay for our horse and donkey if we had a real mustang this would be difficult so trucks are versatile. Maybe someday I will have a real mustang but till then the F150 will do

Shoot, my family got a sierra to pull our trailer safely once or twice a year. Not to mention, I feel safer in a truck over a car. My aunt told me that the insurance on their 09 f150 is less than their 12 focus because you are less likely to get injured in the accident in the truck. I know my truck is overkill for me because I just use it to commute to college in back, but I could care less. I plan on upgrading to a 150 or super duty in a few years because I have plans that would strain my truck I have now.

Glad you said safely. Don't tailgate people. Don't blind them with poorly aimed after market lights. Don't startle them with illegally loud train horns. Etc, Etc. If you want to add stuff to your truck great just don't use it in an unsafe or discourteous manner on public roads.

Love the fact that you mention a standard cab 2 wheel drive as that is my configuration lol. Mine however is the sport model and isn't used daily to "haul" stuff around. At some point I will be putting a supercharger on the 5L engine and possibly a 4-link rear suspension as well as lowering the truck a bit to make it more accessible for those that are more vertically challenged than I am. My truck is a '16 F 150 XL with the 5.0L, standard cab and 6.5' box, 2 wheel drive, and has the towing package on it even though at present I have no desire to tow anything. I do love the locking rear differential though as it gives me near true solid axle performance.

Ive owned a truck since i was 14yrs old. Grew up on a small dog and pony show. Trucks were a necessity of life. No, i dont pull a trailer every day. But i do drive down dirt roads, through sand and brush in the desert. Not to mention monsoon season in Arizona. Cant tell you how many of those same "car" owners have thanked me for towing their car out of a raging wash or standing water. Everyone, has a vehicle preference. If you dont like trucks thats ok with me, ill be there when you need a tow out.... if you're in my territory. No questions asked or humiliation, thats why i own one of those "trucks".

Not one thing bad about that rant. I have guns, maybe used once a month, I have a truck used as a daily driver. I wanted a truck so when I do the occasional towing my skid steer from my father in laws farm I don’t have to use his truck, or when I mow my rental properties. I would love a new super duty but my 17 tundra fits my needs. At my workplace, our work truck is a 2010 tundra, about a month ago it was stolen along with about $6,000 in tools, driven over a steel gate and found a few days later dumped on a gravel road, they took the battery and nothing else from the truck. It is amazing how that truck looked after all that. Just some scratches and dents and one rearview mirror was broke off.
