I am about 99.999% that I rented this EXACT car in Nashville, and then my wife drove it to St. Louis. I remember seeing the 5-28 on the Indiana plate and thinking that was odd. I was a huge fan of the car!
+Yoshiaki K. I got a free upgrade at the rental place and they gave me this! So it wasn't my choice, but still a nice surprises. And no, I don't see myself buying and XTS in the future. It's a nice car, but not really my style (or price range). I think I'd go with a Nissan Maxima or Ford Fusion Platinum instead. Those are two of my recent favorites. How about you? Are you thinking of buying a Cadillac?
Also @ Erik Aalto, same question to you, I think it's a nice car. What made you guys rent the luxury option over the other suvs/regular cars at the rental place? - interesting choice. So you see yourself purchasing an XTS in the future?
Hi Bob! Yeah, this was a dumb mistake I was making in my earlier videos. I'm now referring to it as the "gauge cluster". Sorry about that, I'm still learning. But thanks for pointing out my mistake, it really does help. Happy New Year!
+Nunya Business I agree it drives well, but I'm not sure it drives better than the new Maxima. That's a pretty good car. Have you driven the 2017 Maxima yet?
It would probably depend on what someone considers "driving better". If someone means which car would be better for driving on a 500 mile road trip, the Cadillac would probably leave the driver feeling better, fresher and less fatigued than the driver of a Maxima. If you're talking about a short spirited drive through a winding canyon road, the Maxima would might handle a bit better (than an XTS, not better than a Cadillac CTS or ATS) around the curves. I've driven numerous Cadillacs of all years and models from the 1950's thru to the 2017 XTS that I rented earlier this month, and none of them were hard to drive. They've always been extremely easy to drive.
Great review.. It was spot on. I just rented one for 5 days in New Jersey and was pleasantly surprised. Was not happy with the bad reliability reviews online that I read on it.
I get that Cadillac has used a wreathless shield before in years long past, but I think the shield looks extremely cheap on the grille of the newer XTSs without the wreath. No character.
+Hakeem Mulholland I kinda agree, although I was interested to see how this car would be updated and maybe refreshed in 2018 and 2019. Unfortunately that's not going to happen, because they've decided to stop making th XTS.
100 Rental Cars Yeah, it's a shame too, considering how good the 2013 - 15 XTS looked. I was not aware that Cadillac was asking the XTS, I think that's kinda sad because it's truly the end of an era of tradition for them, a very long era of large FWD Cadillacs. Great review by the way.
+Hakeem Mulholland Thanks for the kind words! And yeah, I agree it is a shame, but... I'm sure Cadillac will be releasing a similar type of car soon with interesting improvements. Personally, I'm looking foward to trying out an EV Cadillac.
@@100RentalCars I'm kind of scared of driving I got road rage I might get into a accident but I see when the time comes in meantime I continue to take septa
Really? I had no idea. How cool is that! I usually only get a few days with each car and I don't always have time to read through the manual. I'll definitely highlight that feature if/when I get to drive the XTS. Cheers!
+Yoshiaki K. It depends on what's offered to me. I haven't seen a BMW ever on the rental car lot; however, I have had a couple of Cameros, Lincolns, and platinum series Fords. I'll ask about a BMW next week and see if I can get one. Any other requests?
the car is great that modern car look is what nissan needs in its sentra but besides the sentra the car is great storage' comfort' all that space I love it 10/10 from me
This is something I've actually been thinking about lately. How do you set your side mirrors? Can you see the car in them? Or do you set it for a wider view where you can't see the side of the car?
Hahahha. I should clean these before I shoot the videos...but they're rentals! I just can't bring myself to clean someone else car week, after week, after week.
+Nunya Business You think? It's always hard for me to tell. Many of the cars I rent aren't marked well. It was REALLY nice. So it doesn't surprise me that it costs close to 60k.
Needs to have a V8 or turbo 6. Ditch the front wheel drive. They were on to something with the STS. Do away with traditional Cadillac instrumentation to compliment center HVAC/GPS. Get a youthful, " back in black" sound track and combine with a black tie affair with the sporty new caddy XTSS or something.. CT6 gorgeous but too expensive.
The car was pretty good, but I would never but it. There is no audio only mode for your phone, and I HATE Android auto. I have TH-cam red and can stream the audio of podcasts and talk shows I like on TH-cam. ( TH-cam red means I can listen while navigating it when the screen is off
How long have you had TH-cam Red? I tried it out for a bit, but then let me free trial expire and didn't renew. I think I'd get it if only I had wifi at work. I'm not sure I could afford to stream data all day.
Did I call it a HUD? Uggg. I made that mistake for a while in my earlier videos. I know better now. I've been calling it the "gauge cluster" or the "digital screen in the gauge cluster". Sound better? I actually find it challenging to learn all the terminology. There's not really a guide I can find to read, I'm just kinda learning as I go. Anyway, thanks for pointing out my mistake. It really does help. Cheers!
The fact that the reviewer had to bring a Nissan Maxima into the discussion less then one minute into the video means either, 1). This car is a massive abject failure of the Cadillac brand or 2). He knows nothing of the contemporary luxury car buying experience. Embarrassing either way.
+Aaron Nute: It does seem rather silly and a bit disrespectful to put cheap ass Nissan Maxima and Low class Ford Fusion up against a Caddy. He's probably a millennial unfortunately; given this is the first Caddy he's driven. Probably doesn't know a lick about Cadillac's history and how influential they were for the entire automotive industry. Surely doesn't know that Cadillac was probably the first car to ever have an automatic parking brake release eons ago. 1967 Eldo's were available with optional heated seats.
+Bruno TaTa no. ive owned multiple Ford, Lincoln and Mercurys ober the years. never had a single problem. now i have a 12 Lincoln MKZ..not one single issue. one of my friends bought a brand new gmc Yukon..2 days and with only about 100 miles...blew the engine lol

Nice review of this automobile. I've recently rode in one and was delightfully impressed at its smooth ride and comfort.
+letlive Thanks!
I could not be any happier with my 2014 XTS VSport. 412 HP is just incredible.
I am about 99.999% that I rented this EXACT car in Nashville, and then my wife drove it to St. Louis. I remember seeing the 5-28 on the Indiana plate and thinking that was odd. I was a huge fan of the car!

Yeah I wouldn't mind a Cadillac. Cadillacs are always big, bad, flashy cars. I like the CT6 and XTS. I'm in the market for a luxury car.

the parking brake automatically disengages once you push on the gas
+Nunya Business Really? Good to know. I'll try it out next time.
Exactly, I knew he was wrong about that.
Cadillac did not have a reputation of being hard to drive and it drives better than any nissan ever made

Cadillac is known for ease of drive. Idk who told you they have a reputation of being hard to drive. Totally not true
So hard to drive that elderly people buy them in droves. I thought that comment was misplaced as well.
What a dumb comments Nissan is not a luxury brand.
Those numbers aren't what I got now on Edmunds and Consumer
Great review.. It was spot on. I just rented one for 5 days in New Jersey and was pleasantly surprised. Was not happy with the bad reliability reviews online that I read on it.
As far as the parking brake, it's the same as my Buick lacrosse, if you press on the gas while in drive it will automatically disengage.
and don't forget you're testing base to mid level rentals

I love it Not everyone got Bentleys and Rolls Royces
Cadillac hasn’t done the boat thing u were talking about, in over 10 years
Hey that's in Naperville
+ben schmidt Is it? I can't tell.
Not having blind side detection is a plus. I always turn it off on my cars that have it. If you have your mirrors set correctly it's not needed.
This is something I've actually been thinking about lately. How do you set your side mirrors? Can you see the car in them? Or do you set it for a wider view where you can't see the side of the car?
I always have set of wider view very slightly angled down
OMG the dust on the dash.....OCD alert!!!

+100 Rental Cars i always carry a static duster in my car. dust drives me absolutely crazy! lol

that's not a base model and is more like a $55 to $63,500 car.

Nunya Business NO this is the $50,000 Luxury trim XTS.
100 Rental Cars Most rental cars are the 2nd trim up. For example with Chevys it's the LT trim. Or Fords with the SE trim.

Bro. How dare you compare the interior to an inferior Nissan...
My bad.
who are you kidding? The Nissan will probably last longer and have less issues.
This looks just like my impala on the interior
You're right! It kinda does. Great car, btw. I LOVE the Impala. Too bad Chevy is going to stop production after 2019.
They'll bring it back when people get sick of driving identical bubble shaped crossovers. That seems to be the trend now.
I hope so. Don't get me wrong, I do like an occasional "bubble shaped crossover" (hilarious, btw), but the Impala just feels better.

Thats false, you simply press media and it will cycle to your bluetooth connection/aux totally seperate from andriod auto.
