    This is EXACTLY the review I was looking for! I was torn between the CT6 and the XTS, but this helped me decide. I drive a 2015 Chevy Impala LTZ right now that I absolutely LOVE, and I didn't want to veer too far from it. It's the Platinum XTS for me! Thanks SO MUCH! I'm headed back to the dealership tomorrow for that 2018 Platinum XTS! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

    Thanks for the positive feedback. I have been totally impressed with both cars. The CT6 is newer and might seem to be better. But I see that Cadillac just updated the front suspension of the XTS. Oh yes! I think this might increase stability of the already-excellent XTS. I am trying to get my hands on a 2017 XTS.

    I have driven the 2014 XTS4 3.6l and was very impressed of how smooth and comfortable the ride is, and when the CT6 came out i thought it was better looking at the front but the XTS looked better with those tail lights, it gives it a more "Caddy" look.
    Now when I saw the 2018 XTS with a similar front fascia as the CT6 and a gorgeous rear taillights I was sold!

    This is a great video for Uber drivers. For drivers who do have to pick up multiple boneheads at the airports who think they can bring X amount of bags on a trip (despite what Uber policy tell them), It is the XTS. The CT6 has a trunk Too small. I've have seen a family of 4 from Arkansas show up with a LOT of bags who were not smart enough to try to call an Uber X (Suburban) for their needs.

    I drove 2019 XTS on my recent US trip. I did 3k miles in that car and it's absolutely fantastic to drive. The ride and luxury, I loved it. Daily basis I drive ATS 2.0T and this car is awesome too. Bud ATS it's a madman compared to XTS but I love it sporty handling. I wish to keep my ATS and have XTS for long cruising. I hope to get a CT6 for few days and wander which one would fit better to me, XTS or CT6. I think Caddilac should keep XTS in production if that's ride like a boat. There is still plenty peoples that prefer floaty ride rather then sporty. I really need to drive a CT6 now :)

  • @alexellsworth4415
    @alexellsworth4415 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The reason for the key difference highlighted in the video is a difference in intent: The CT6 is designed to compete with the taut, highly engineered vehicles of premium German brands, while the XTS is a large, soft car at an affordable price point designed to appeal to taxi/limo operators and elderly customers. Essentially, Cadillac hoped to attract new customers in the former category without losing its existing customers in the latter category.
    I agree that this strategy muddles the lineup and confuses customers. However, I should note that Lexus has successfully employed it for nearly 20 years with its IS/GS models on one hand and ES model on the other hand. The ES may not sell to fleet customers, but it similarly offers a larger size, softer feel, and more traditional styling at a lower price, while the IS and GS are firmer, much smaller for the money, and designed to compete with the Germans.

    Excellent, EXCELLENT review! Yes I did wonder about those rather small center A/C vents in the CT6 and how useless they would be unless the fan control has a TORNADO setting on it. Here in oppressively hot and humid Orlando where a breeze doesn t exist and it's hotter than a dog's breath or a nun locked in her room with a kielbasa sausage, you need much larger vents and a hurricane fan setting.

    Wait, if your hearing is going bad, a noisier interior is less of a problem, so that would be a point in favor of the XTS, not the CT6. Aside from that, it seems the difference boils down to the XTS being more of a traditional Caddilac, while the CT6 continues the trend of trying to be more "European."

    • @wasabiworthington6352
      @wasabiworthington6352  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know my comment on "hearing going bad" surprised some people. With hearing loss certain sounds become super irritating. It's not so much that volume levels go down in your head but rather that some sounds (like tire noise) can dominate what you hear in your head. :-)

    we on both a 18 XTS Premium and a 16 CT6 Platinum and find the CT6 rides smoother; possibly its the trim level, and its seems the CT6 has a more cocoon feel, as you sit lower....and really love the twin turbo v6 in the CT6, but love them both

    The most dominant difference is that the CT6 is Rear Wheel Drive. The XTS is Front Wheel Drive….

    • @wasabiworthington6352
      @wasabiworthington6352  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you put your foot into it... the XTS with front drive spins the wheels more than expected and more than intended. XTS 2WD puts 300+ horsepower to the front wheels, no wonder. And then the computer takes over. It is vulnerable this way. Unless you bought the 4-wheel drive version. Rode in one once and it rockets out of the starting gate like a bat out of X$*&$% with all the horses onto the pavement! The CT6 2WD does less wheel spin compared to the XTS 2WD, no doubt. I would love to compare the 4WD versions though. So, the question is how often we pump the pedal to the floor. Me? Maybe once each year.
      By the way, from 30MPH to 70MPH all 300+ XTS 2WD horses get you going with no wheel spin. So fast and more than I need! Hang on baby!

    I have a 2013 XTS premium with 82,000 miles on it. I believe it has been a exceptionally good car. But I was considering possibly getting a CT6 because it would be something different to have for 2018. But the way I see it the CT6 would probably be about $10,000 more than the XTS. This would be something else I would want to consider for better budget and the way they depreciate so quickly.

  • @h.n.2259

      Scotty Perrillioux where are you getting this information? The president of Cadillac has said they will have a new car unveiled every six months through 2020 as they look to strengthen their lineup.
      The crossover that I was referring to will be a competitor to the Explorer, aviator and other 3 row crossovers. It’ll be more affordable than the Escalade. This will give Cadillac the XT4, XT5, vehicle X, and Escalade to round out their crossover/suv stable.

    I hope the CT6 has a better lighting system than any of my XTS's. High beam is useless unless you are hunting owls. My dealer tells me they are set (self-leveling) and cannot be adjusted. Am I the only owner who has this opinion?

    • @wasabiworthington6352
      @wasabiworthington6352  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The headlights are "self-leveling" when you start the car. But, there is still some adjustment. For example, on my XTS the driver side headlight was aimed higher than the passenger side and higher than it should have been. The dealer mechanic pulled it down in a couple of minutes. I will kinda agree that the high beams are not quite as powerful as I expected too. But I live in Florida where there is almost always traffic and the low beams are awesome...I never get to use high beams.

    Great commentary. Very much interested in the CT6 Platinum, however, I'm a little concerned with the fact that this is the last year for production for this car. What happens, if down the road you need repairs and parts? Will they be available? Anyone with an opinion is welcome to chine in.

    • @wasabiworthington6352
      @wasabiworthington6352  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your questions are valid. GM threatened to cancel the XTS several years before they actually did. And so here we are. The CT6 I drove is long gone...and they are out of production. The XTS I chose to still drive, against all recommendations, is still the best car I have owned in my whole life. Now about those mechanics who take the cheap way out and who easily recommend replacing $3,000 in struts and $2,000 anytime anything else is wrong (Not my local Cadillac dealer, whose numbers although are not much better) I can say this one thing. Prove that you are a real mechanic. I will pay up for proper maintenance. But don't just start slinging around repair quotes that cost more than a good but used Honda Accord. And, so far, every part I need has been available from an authorized GM source. The challenge has been finding good mechanics...not finding good parts.

      Yes, the setting to move the steering wheel and seat "out of the way" when exiting is turned on. And the seat setting it moves to is actually worse than the driving position for you. The owner's manual or OnStar can help you turn this off or set the "Exit" seating position to something better.

    You missed a ton of key points. Two main ones are which dashbord is nicer. That’s what you spend your time looking at every single day while driving around. Also which draws more eyes while driving around. To me the clear winner here is the CT6. One looks like Cadillac’s answer to an S Class and 7 series and the other looks like a rebadged Buick LaCrosse

    The ct6 does not have a bumpy ride what so ever!

      These things are relative. Compared to the XTS, the CT6 has a bumpy ride. Do an immediate ride-by-ride comparison and you will see what I meant.

      i agree, we own both the CT6 is not bumpy what so ever and does ride quieter than our XTS.....

    Wait, my hearing IS going bad, which makes me favor the XTS in that aspect. The CT6 is quieter, but I don't gaf because noise isn't an issue. What am I missing?

      Haha, I thought the same thing. However, a quieter car might make it easier to hear conversations in the car if you have bad hearing.

      @@Spikejou That's a good point, maybe that's what he meant. But Cadillacs are traditionally very quiet, and the XTS is definitely the more traditional between these two. I can't imagine that the decibel difference really matters that much in the real world; there's no way a big, cushy Caddy could ever be considered noisy by any stretch of the imagination.

      I am laughing. Well, people like me with hearing loss...certain sounds can even be quieter but yet more annoying. Hearing loss has unexpected impacts. :-) And this is one reason I drive Cadillac's. They all are above average with interior sound levels.

    7 1/2 feet of floor space is like a Minivan and bigger than most SUVS.

      Bruno TaTa I am guessing that you don't drive a diesel ford Excursion like I do then. It fits in my garage just fine as well.

      I know my comment on "hearing going bad" surprised some people. With hearing loss certain sounds become super irritating. It's not so much that volume levels go down in your head but rather that some sounds (like tire noise) can dominate what you hear in your head. :-)
