With current solar tech and the massive energy storage required for cars, in perfect conditions, parked in the sun you would only get about 2-3 miles. So, that makes the panels only useful for parking at the airport when you know you will be gone for a couple weeks. However, if you left it in sentry mode it would likely still draw too much for the panels to save you from losing miles. There just isn't enough surface area to make solar useful on a car.
Tesla's fanatic fans always tease us with all these rumors and we are still in wait for the release of this new Model Y, so just release the damn new Juniper model and put it up for sale to the buyers!

Yeah, EVs have a range problem, not a roof problem.
First release proper FSD to Europe. We paid for it. Don‘t need you guessed features until then.

Hope Tesla includes fancy HUD features. Voice control of FSD feature. Quiet cabin and comfortable ride.
Tesla needs to incorporate some solar so the new cars no longer need to be supercharged and all the charging can be done at home and longer range
