So would Lochsong. You can say this about any great historical sprinter. The world record at Epsom is about the ground on the day. Any top sprinter that doesn't mind firm ground could break the record in this race if it's firm on the day. Getting a run is hugely important too in this kind of race.
Actually that’s the other way round. At five he was unbeatable, was still brilliant at six but then I’m sure you’ll remember him getting beaten in the Breeders Cup sprint when he jumped the shadow with the race at his mercy. Greatest sprinter ever in my humble opinion.

I remember them all but a trainer having a large quantity of five furlong horses does not make him the best ever for five furlong horses. It just means he will not have any or many stayers in his yard. Jack Berry was probably more renowned for two-year-olds rather than sprinters per se and Bill O'Gorman was another one, with juveniles like Provideo, Superlative, Superpower, Timeless Times and Mac's Imp, although he did also win King's Stand Stakes with Sayf El Arab and gained Group 1 glory with Superpower and Mac's Imp in the Heinz '57' Phoenix Stakes.
A large track, virtually a straight drag, helps the times when there's no corner. Black Caviar was the best Australasian sprinter I've seen. Was unbeaten with over 30 wins. She raced at Ascot I think and won a big race there against the best from the UK. I think a match race over 1400m with Black Caviar VS Winx would of been the race of the century. 1400m would be at the extent of Black Cavior's champion competitive range with 1400m the biggining of his, Winx's champion competitive range. I believe a dead heat may have occurred. Anyway Black Cavior my choice to 1400m, Winx 1400m plus. Both horses won more than 30 wins in a row.
Incorrect, Black Caviar won 25 out of 25 races. Winx didn't. Black Caviar holds the second place with unbeaten starts. Kincsem still holds the world record with 54 wins out of 54 starts.
