Each ran the distance faster than Secretariat's Derby, yet it was totally unremarked at the time. Just watched it again. Exactly, it's not a set up or anything. In 99% of such races the long time leader is always expected to run out of Gas and be swallowed up close to home, so the rest of the field usually hangs back, and in most cases like this it is too late when the chasing pack realize that the long time leader is not slowing up. The horse was made fit for the race and the connections told the jockey to take him well to the front and keep a steady pace and try hold on. It's usually called '' Caught them napping''

Awesome race, awesome horse to have stayed strong and hold the lead as long as Steward did, beautiful stride. Noticed though it was starting to tire towards the end. Awesome ride by the jockey as well, but without them being as one, the outcome may have happened differently ….. This race reminds me of the great Secretariat winning the Triple Crown in the 1970s, of which I had the chance to see him in all his glory. Another great horse was Man O’War, lovingly know as “Big Red”, great stallion setting those early history racing records as well. Love a good race without incidences of abuse and cruelty, but more importantly, love a good rider who understands his/her horse more and will do what is right to guarantee its safety on the track while racing. ❤️👍🙏🏼

This ride reminds me of a horse called Night City. It was ran on the all weather between 1m 2f to 1m 4f, must be 20 years ago now. It used the same tactics each time by doing his sprint at the start going off like a scalded cat and putting a couple of furlongs between him and the rest then just coast home hoping the group wouldn't catch him. I've not seen a horse since try the same method. You always got a run for your money and I landed lots of nice bets on him.

Great race and win for this horse. Totally dominated the field. But please don't even whisper the name Secretariat as a comparison. Secretariat got stronger as the race went on. This horse weakened. The Steward had a 30-some length lead at one point but during the last third of the race and heading towards the finish line the other horses were gobbling up dirt taking give chunks out of his lead. He ended up winning by about 13 lengths. He definitely still annihilated those dogs but it was nothing like Secretariat's historic Belmont win. I do have a question: how long was this race? @@rachaeldavie4215 ain’t Bryony great? I love girl jocks with a big personality and Bryony sure fits the bill. I see your point about front runners but 99% of races are won from horses that come from behind. Unless you are an established front runner and know no other way you will tire and fade during the last quarter of the race. Charlotte kidded them all as it was trained up and she had a good horse under her that day that stayed like the mother in law. You ride too?

    wow! that is almost unbelieveable!!
usually in such a situation, the jockey leaps out of the saddle and hits the dirt just before the winning post :(
