Epilogue was made in crunch time…it’s broken. My 2 cents are that after the discs were made, most of the team shifted to GTA or other projects thus leaving RDR2 maintenance to rookies or devs that weren’t involved significantly in RDR2. Also, Rockstar is too CORPORATE to address such mistake regarding John so they figured they bury it forever.

I think they should have went full out with how John worked differently than Arthur. The weapon wheel, the pause screen, how John carried his guns (back holster, knife being on the left side with the satchel) and the FUCKING VOICE LINES AND MUSIC. If they brought back “triggernometry” or “the shootist” when fighting with John that would have made you feel like your playing as John marston, and also John’s raw ass dialogue when fighting. Man, RDR1 John's gameplay lines are severely underrated. He has more lines than Arthur when it comes to random gameplay dialogue. He comments when picking flowers, skinning animals, shooting birds, he even comments when running away from a gunfight!.

Agreed with everything in the video but it doesn't even nearly mention everything Rockstar go wrong about John Marston's character and appearance in RDR2. in RDR2 he lacks all his positive character traits. He has no sarcasm, he has zero charm, zero confidence, can't say a sentence without stuttering (RDR1 John was surprisingly eloquent for an outlaw). They downgraded his character completely and people are eating it up as "character development". But what development is there? John never develops into his RDR1 self. He starts as a barely interesting character, and ends as a barely interesting character. He is way worse than he should have been. And then there's other stuff like John barely speaking during combat, when the real John Marston won't shut up during a gunfight (he goes from hilarious to cold blooded with his remarks in RDR1). He is simply devoid of his personality, and the degradation of his appearance adds insult to injury. Rockstar didn't accidentally mess up John, it was a deliberate writing decision to make him worse so that the new characters looked better in comparison.

John’s also missing so much ambient voice lines he doesn’t say yaw when riding horses really fast, when hunting he doesn’t calm the horse down when it starts freaking out, he doesn’t even have a line similar to “ok I’ll catch you later then” so when he leaves conversation it’s just ackward
i also noticed with John his voice is much more raspy then in rd1 im not sure if the voice actor just got older or if there was different voice directing involved

If you are on pc install mods but if you are on ps4 downgrade it to 1.00 if u cant do that neither. Just make him look like different character like shave his hair to lvl 1 buzzcut and lvl 2 stubble. He will look like your average cowboy
These correction have already been modded in. THE MODELS, TEXTURES, SOUNDS, AND ANIMATION ALREADY EXIST. All it would require is literally lets say 5 people a single days work and maybe 1 or 2 people to double check bugs over the course of a couple weeks and get feedback from players. The company would probably only gain money because of this as word would get out and boost sales.

Vanilla Epilogue John’s energy is that of a happy-go-lucky cartoon character which is very present in his voice lines, neutral facial expression, and his goofy running animation
I understand that back in rd1 jack was literally just a reskin of john because that game came out 14 years ago and also there was no purpose for him as a playable character besides the last mission, so it made sense they’d wanna safe the work and not go all in with jack making him a whole new character. But with today’s game standards and considering the fact this time around there’s still a bunch of stuff to do during the epilogue, john literally has his own storyline after Arthur’s death unlike jack after John’s death, so there’s both main and side missions to do. Considering all this rockstar had no excuse to be this lazy about rd2 epilogue’s playable character, you’d think because all of all they would put on a little more effort and be more respectful towards john as a character, I wanted to feel like I’m playing as him, not as a cheap ripoff of the other protagonist with just a different face(for the second time in the franchise)

When I first played the game, and completed it, I was excited to play as John cause he looked so cool in the beta version. Never been so disappointed. lol thank god for modders though.

I remember the first time getting into the epilogue i though john would have his clothes, animations and appearance, but after messing around with john i noticed that he has Arthur's skeleton and his hair is black with the wrong hairline instead of brown and worst of all his cowboy outfit with Arthur's skeleton makes him look like a low budget john from wishlist, another issue i had is the fact that they could've gave him all of his npc dialog when he's shooting, rockstar could've done so much with him but they realized corporate greed is more important than fixing their own game 💀
Bulky as arthur is a stretch. John has always been smaller. He's not the strongman that arthur is described as but thats ok cause he known in rdr1 as a badass gunslinger.

That’s not true, in epilogue cutscenes where he aims his gun you can see he aims his gun like in rdr1 and holds it up like in rdr1. Also him holding his gun up isn’t just an animation since it was found fully working in the game files AND even has one for dual wielding where he aims both guns up. His running animations and even walking animations that were cut are remade versions of his rdr1 run and walk. The ones he has in the epilogue aren’t even Rob’s
I'm so thankful I got to play this game before the graphical downgrade patch, I can't remember if I ever got to epilogue before the patch though, but damn that vanilla walking animation looks so good. Can you pinpoint the exact reason rockstar did all this or was it unintentional or due to rdo updates? It's just crazy, graphics downgrade, fuck up John, then just dip and abondoned this game. At least we got some whack Christmas update with a fucking Santa costume a few days ago. These correction have already been modded in. THE MODELS, TEXTURES, SOUNDS, AND ANIMATION ALREADY EXIST. All it would require is literally lets say 5 people a single days work and maybe 1 or 2 people to double check bugs over the course of a couple weeks and get feedback from players. The company would probably only gain money because of this as word would get out and boost sales.

I understand that back in rd1 jack was literally just a reskin of john because that game came out 14 years ago and also there was no purpose for him as a playable character besides the last mission, so it made sense they’d wanna safe the work and not go all in with jack making him a whole new character. But with today’s game standards and considering the fact this time around there’s still a bunch of stuff to do during the epilogue, john literally has his own storyline after Arthur’s death unlike jack after John’s death, so there’s both main and side missions to do. Considering all this rockstar had no excuse to be this lazy about rd2 epilogue’s playable character, you’d think because all of all they would put on a little more effort and be more respectful towards john as a character, I wanted to feel like I’m playing as him, not as a cheap ripoff of the other protagonist with just a different face(for the second time in the franchise)

I remember the first time getting into the epilogue i though john would have his clothes, animations and appearance, but after messing around with john i noticed that he has Arthur's skeleton and his hair is black with the wrong hairline instead of brown and worst of all his cowboy outfit with Arthur's skeleton makes him look like a low budget john from wishlist, another issue i had is the fact that they could've gave him all of his npc dialog when he's shooting, rockstar could've done so much with him but they realized corporate greed is more important than fixing their own game 💀
Bulky as arthur is a stretch. John has always been smaller. He's not the strongman that arthur is described as but thats ok cause he known in rdr1 as a badass gunslinger.

Sadly I think the Anims were ported from rdr1 simply just to be a placeholder i think rockstar from the very first day of development were gonna make John new Anims, the ss where he’s holding his gun up is just a standing animation they made for the screenshot
That’s not true, in epilogue cutscenes where he aims his gun you can see he aims his gun like in rdr1 and holds it up like in rdr1. Also him holding his gun up isn’t just an animation since it was found fully working in the game files AND even has one for dual wielding where he aims both guns up. His running animations and even walking animations that were cut are remade versions of his rdr1 run and walk. The ones he has in the epilogue aren’t even Rob’s

I'm so thankful I got to play this game before the graphical downgrade patch, I can't remember if I ever got to epilogue before the patch though, but damn that vanilla walking animation looks so good.
Can you pinpoint the exact reason rockstar did all this or was it unintentional or due to rdo updates? It's just crazy, graphics downgrade, fuck up John, then just dip and abondoned this game. At least we got some whack Christmas update with a fucking Santa costume a few days ago. Rdo sucks, and now I'm not sure I even want to continue my current playthrough to the epilogue, I was saving all my bounty missions and a few others for John. Ughhhh

You know, when RDR2 lost GOTY I felt bad about it, but once I paid real attention to the bugs in the game, like John Morgan and severe bugs in the epilogue, I understand why he didn't really deserve to win GOTY, difference from the first RDR1 which was a perfect masterpiece with no issues like we found in RDR2
