I like how despite this song's relatively cheerful beat, it manages to incorporate a heavy, dark drum beat into it. It really fits the games theme of "You might not be a hero after all". It manages to both sound zany and somewhat intimidating at the same time.
It's as if the song is covering up something much more sinister beneath it...something...

My favorite uses of Pepper Steak are the battles against Valerie-Japhet. It totally fits that feeling of "What the hell is going on here?!"

When I listen to this song, I like to imagine a bunch of wacky, old-timey cartoon characters walking down the street. There would also be other "old fashioned things" like automobiles, steamboats, record players, large factories/industry workers, and other things like that. It's happy, feel-good, and celebratory, but at the same time eerie, unsettling and disturbing. It really captures the feeling of OFF.
I just imagine the Batter beating the ever loving shit out of the spectres.

Thing I love most about this song is it's misleading. It starts out all folk style and sort of jazzy then more towards the middle it gets ominous and dark. Love this music.

It's ironic that the most popular track in an ominous game with an otherwise ambient and sometimes forboding ost to match, is actually very upbeat and jazzy

this song is genius, it surprises me that this song is almost an entire sample of a 1930's-1950's song yet it sounds so radicaly different, the songs gives industrial vibes fitting with all the 4 elements things in the world of off, the song at first glance sounds cheerful and happy but if you listen closely you can hear a piano note and the tone of the song changes, at 0:35 the song takes a dramatic change and it sounds extremely dark and..weird? i cant really explaining but is the same feeling that you get when seeing a new enemy of this game for the first time is just extremely bizarre
what im saying is that alias conrad is a fucking musical genius, the NORMAL battle theme is able to fit with the setting, match the themes that this games takes and it sounds so fucking great. hopefully you guys get what i am saying since im really bad at expressing myself with words and english is not my first language :/

This is one of the songs that you arnt sure are repeating until you look at the time
trickgod part of that might be because it naturally loops as you are fighting off spectres so your mind thinks it’s longer than it actually is.
One of my favorite battle themes from RPG's ever, it's catchy great, and even holds up today. The more I think about it the more the religious theme of the crusades is a main part of the story. The way The Batter feels no remorse for what he's doing the way he talks and the overall tone of the game. Purifying specters in his wake not knowing that if you go back to a "pure" are it's now a wasteland of what it was. Just the entire theme of pure really sets it in stone for me. I dunno just my thoughts.
What is it with this tune? Every other song in the game is so sad, worrying, or depressing, but this one's so bubbly and cheerful, we're having a party-WHAT THE **** IS THAT?
And that's when the flying Whale appeared.
