Info for FFXIV-only viewers: Rhythm Doctor is a rhythm game played by hitting a key whenever a character's heartbeat monitor reaches the 7th beat (the yellow section). The DRK on the bottom calls for you to press the key on a steady rhythm indicated by the spotlights. All of the other visuals like the characters moving around is just for show, adding challenge in obscuring what's going on. The black haired guy playing SCH is Ian, an avid gamer as well as a doctor, and the DRG is being played by his no-nonsense boss Edega, who is giving Ian a hard time for gaming during business hours. The SAM and DRK are played by other hospital patients. Info for Rhythm Doctor-only viewers: The group are playing through the Final Fantasy 14 dungeon The Twinning. Edega is playing as a damage dealer that looks like Richard But A Catboy, while Ian is playing a healer that looks like himself. Edega is playing very poorly, possibly on purpose to teach Ian a lesson. The big robot at the end is a time machine, hence all the time slowdowns going on there. At the end the Samurai attempts to do a big dramatic attack called a Limit Break, but the Lancer preempts him by getting the killing blow first, winning the fight but with a wet fart.
To be honest, I feel like Edega isn't trying to screw Ian over. From the dialogue, I get the assumption that Edega is curious as to what Ian and the patients play (particularly Ian who was playing "on company equipment, in company time") and got in since he had a good amount of free time.
@@mystryvexyll In FFXIV, every expansion has a series of bosses that 8 players fight against. After beating them you can take on extra difficult versions of all those fights, and those are called Savage Raids. They're some of the most difficult fights in the game, surpassed only by Ultimate Raids. Given how badly we see Edega play in this dungeon, which is relatively easy content, savage raids are going to be hopeless, and since Ian is a healer it'll be especially hard for him.
@@watchmp100 Act 5 of Rhythm Doctor showed that Edega is a fair bit more sinister than he seemed back when I made this, yeah. Still think I would've wrote him the same, though.

One shame about the recorded run being perfect is that it doesn't show off the miss or partial-miss animations, because I'm especially happy with them: i.imgur.com/NXRJ6Q2.gif
It’s a one-button rhythm game, so you hit the spacebar/clap or whatever button on the seventh beats of the individual lines. “X”s are quiet different effects/sounds are used to indicate changes in rhythms (like “get set go!” indicates that the rhythm is switching to a steady 4/4 rhythm where you “clap” on beats 2 and 4, the rattling means you hold the button for the full beat, and the curved beats mean the rhythm is swung). it’s really fun, and i recommend it!!
Time to give a long Explanation for no reason - Every bar is 7 Beats and you hit on the Seventh Beat. These Beats can be Swing Beats which take the same time but have a Swing Timing. If a Normal Beat has an X On the Bar, that beat will be Silent. It will still be Played Though, just not Audible. If each beat has a Sort of Shake Sound and Takes a While to Play (like row 3 at 1:58 ) then you hold it for the amount of time the Previous Notes were Held. These are Hold Beats and can also catch other beats if they end up being hit while a Hold Beat is playing. The Bottom Beat Is a simple Call and Response Type Beat that's called an SVT Beat. You get the Timing through "Rea-Dy-Get-Set-Go!" with "Dy" and "Set" being when you Hit and the Rest when a Beat starts. However, this Beat can Pulse to add more Flavor. This doesn't change the Hit Timing. If instead of "Go!" You hear "One!" Then the beat only goes Once. If an SVT Beat has 2 Cues before it begins and freezes before it hits, You have a Freeze shot. The length of Time between when you would have hit and when you do actually hit the beat is the same as the First and Second Cue Before the Beat. Sometimes Levels have extra Mechanics created from the Community. For Example : A Yellow Outline - The Beat is only 6.5 Beats long with the last beat going half a Beat Early. A Red Outline - The Beat is 8 Beats long, starting from Beat 2 and going back to Beat 1 Before continuing as Normal. An Owl Hoot/Whistle - The Beat is 3/4 Beats Long, in the pattern of "-XX-XX-" or "-X-X-X-" . These are just to help you tell when a 3 or 4 Beat is Played. An Electric Outline - The Beat is the Same Timing as the Previous Beat (or any specific Marked Beat) and you hit it on the same time no matter what the beat does. This is a Lot so I would recommend Watching or even Playing the Game itself and having a look at the Level Editor.
I literally had to watch 2 video on what this game was, and how to play it before understanding this one. But after that, I can finally say, that this is pretty neat.
A lot of people talking about the DRK animation for unleash and DRG floor tanking. But another cute detail is the tank actually using mitigations in 1:17 . Notice as well that the cast is on a “rattle” beat meaning you have purposefully miss the next hit which could signify downtime for dps. Doesn’t make sense though since TBN is an oGCD, but still a neat touch.
I'd never heard of Rhythm Doctor before this video, but I'm obsessed with the detail! I feel like every time I rewatch this I catch something new, and I've been rewatching it a lot.
