When people of the Li ethnic group first landed on the tropical island of Hainan in southern China over 3,000 years ago, boats were turned upside down to make shelters. Today, thatch roof houses resembling that shape are still standing in a remote village in Dongfang City, except that they are all vacant with no residents. Li or Hlai or Lai are the same and could have affinity with Lai of Mizoram and Historical Lai of Manipur of which Meitei is a descendent

Also look at the grainery and it seems very similar with our Kot where we stores our grains/rice in olden times. We also have sticky rice or chakhou

Three stone fire place in Meetei is called "Fung ka Lai Lu/Fung ka Lai Ruu". There reside three gods and one mother goddess; they are Mang-Ngang Lai, Khuman Lai, Lu wang Lai and goddess is Emoinu Lairenpi(E+Moi+Nu; Lai+Ren+Pi).
