Cuphead is really a game built around its bosses. From the Root Pack to the Devil, ninety percent of the time spent on this game is facing boss characters. But, not all bosses are built the same, some are intentionally easier than others and some are surprisingly difficult. With the Delicious Last Course having just released a whole new slew of bosses have arrived, but which of those bosses are easy as pie and which are the most difficult of the bunch?

Cagney is actually one of the THREE bosses you can fight at the very beginning. There is a secret path to the right of Goops tree. This is also how to access the 2nd run and gun early.

2:00 When I first played Cuphead, I actually chose Goopy Le Grande as the first boss, because his design was probably the simplest in the whole game (a blue ball of slime with a face), and he's an excellent introduction to the moving bosses (as opposed to the stationary bosses in The Root Pack).
When I started playing cupheaf for the first time it was the second to last boss I faced since it was too hard for me
@@pugglypugger4807 How is that even possible? Because to get to Inkwell Isle 2, you first have to beat ALL the previous bosses on Regular or Expert. You probably meant second to last on Isle 1? Or were you using hacks or something?

30:01 That could be said about the majority of the DLC as well, since most of the bosses there are designed to better utilize Ms. Chalice's horizontal parry, double jump and dodge roll. But it's also worth noting that the bosses in the main game are built to use Cuphead's and Mugman's vertical parries, which makes certain bosses much more different with Ms. Chalice.
Especially trying to S Rank Grim Matchstick. Parrying the eye beams with Chalice is a hassle
Try beating the bunny on king dice with no hits as miss chalice, u will not do that. Real.
It's interesting that King Dice's boss fight was modified to suit ms Chalice's dash parry, but not other bosses.

@@latexu9589 Above the cards on the actual King Dice fight, pink hearts float above the parry cards which I'm assuming has a larger hitbox which allows Ms Chalice to parry them instead of just dashing over.

I am surprised Esther is so low because it took me a while get used to her attacks and all the stuff on the screen in phase 1. I thought she was one of the hardest bosses in the DLC

Rumor is actually quite easy, lobber is amazing for the first faze AND last, just aim up above her and the shots will always hit. People seriously overestimate her.

Saltbaker may be in the top half, but he's still surprisingly low in my opinion. What's even more shocking to me is that bosses like Moonshine Mob and Djimmi the Great are above him, both of which I never really had troubles with.
Djimmi is the hardest boss in the game to me.
I found moonshine mob much, much easier than glumstone

I’ll never get why people find Rumor Honeybottoms so difficult. I think she’s one of the easiest bosses in the game. She’s one of the easiest bosses to S-rank as well.
Just beat her today. Honestly pretty easy just the platforms get a bit shitty
A mix of offscreen attacks and an unusual direction to shoot in during the final phase would be my guess. I'll edit this later when I actually fight her with my bro or dad and say my frustrations if i have any

@@letshavefun1015 yes, but it could also be because of the platforms. They get very difficult sometimes, and there are also random gaps in the platforms that could screw you over.
You got to get lucky with your platforms because when the honey is raising up and you need to get on another platform sometimes they don't spawn in.
You have no idea how happy I am that somebody actually realized Esther shoots snake oil and not ink.

Chaser is just not that good. It's one of those weapons that feels really powerful due to the idea that you can just focus on dodging but the truth is its always much better to end the phase quicker with some danger rather than taking double the time to focus on dodging. What's worse is the fact that crackshot has literally made chaser useless because it's just chaser but better in every way.
P. s. Chaser is busted on run n gun levels though
Yeah it's one of my least favourite weapons but it is quite useful for certain parts of some levels especially run n gun

Two things to note:
1. Because Werner Wermin is German, it’s pronounced Verner Vermin (vermin being the pun).
2. Cagney can be fought as one of the three, but most players try the other levels because of how close they are.
Honestly, I don't agree with a few of the placements here.
For example, the King's Leap should have been on the lower half of the easiest section. While their attacks are pretty simple, it can be a bit difficult at first sight.
I would say that Mortmire is easier than the Moonshine Mob, since that there is enough time to react and his attacks are rather kinda simple at best.
Chef Saltbaker should be, at least, in 5th place of difficulty because his attacks are so diverse and mostly come all at once that it's pretty hard, especially during the very 1st phase of the battle.
Totally agree saltbaker took me the longest on expert to beat. he's not super tough on normal but man the expert setting is a chore to say the least

Personally, I disagree with you putting Dr. kaul’s robot at number 1#. While learning it, it was immensely difficult, but once I figured a pattern I got to the last phase every time with full health.
Well I dead 15 times before I cood get to his last stage with full health but is easy with the chare that gives health on your 1 3 and 6 pary

Converge makes Ribby & Croaks pre-slot machine phase a cakewalk because since they have two hit boxes that share the same HP, Converge’s piercing effect deals double damage to the frog bros. Converge is the best weapon for Ribby & Croaks in phase 1 and 2

Before more people talk about Cagney I’ll explain at this stage of the game you don’t have much to work with due to the lack of coins you’ll have to choose carefully about what you should do since Cagney is different from mainly the others the only shot that helps you here the most is roundabout since it’s also good for the others but the shot that’s best for them is spread which is not good on Cagney the difficulty itself definitely makes it the hardest isle one boss due to the amount that can be on screen plus Cagney attacks are hard to dodge in the first 2 phases due to the acorns coming out at a slow pace and the boomerang being fast and large and in phase 3 you have limited space and you need to have fast reflexes to dodge the dandelions while avoiding the roots so that’s my explanation so please no more of why is Cagney so high

Yeah, it took me a couple of weeks to beat.
I feel like werner should be higher because the second phase can be tricky thanks to the caps. Especially when one entire cap wall comes towards you, limiting your movement options.
If you crouch to the left side completely up against the cart he's on the only damage you'll take is from the bottom left bottle cap

Yeah. Kahl is definitely easier on expert because of the delayed laser in the first phase and the bullet hell patterns being easier to dodge in the third phase (imo)
Kala's first faze is the hardest (in my opinion) because all her attacks working together is a nightmare to not take a single hit
Rumor honeybottoms wasn't that hard for me...but doctor Kahl's robot sure was. It was only boss that took me more than hour to defeat, and the only one who started to be frustrating after some tries (I disagree with some placements tho)

Mortimer was the easiest boss for me on the dlc and he's probably in my top 5 easiest bosses

Definitely not normal but freeze is one hell of a boss to S-rank. Definitely harder than the devil in that regard
Every Cuphead boss is easy once you really become use to their attacks and don't fold under pressure
What I learned from this is that I'm way worse at plane bosses than I thought

The bee mission was for me the easiest in the third map cause I was trivialising the first phase,the second phase is just a matter o knowing pattern and last phase can't be beat without it even begining
14:47 These two shots are from two different versions of the game: the first one is the updated version where other actors bow to the audience, and the second one is missing them, since it's from the older version.😉
A lot of the shots are from various difficulties as well. You can see the platforms moving in different directions in the Grim Matchstick fight.
Also when I first played on my first playthrough I went around the map. Cagney was the first boss I faced and beat. (NO JOKES)

I just wanted to do my personal opinion based of experience and I’ll be sorting them by isle because it’s just easier for me.
Isle 1.
Hilda berg: I don’t know why this was the easiest for me even though this was the first time I’ve ever played this game, still this one took me the least amount of tries.
Root pack: took me quite a lot of tries but I could make it to the carrot easily, the issue was beating the carrot.
Goopy le grandé: took me a few tries with limited damage on the first phase but it was fine.
Ribby and Crocks: took me a lot of tries to not take any damage during the first and second phase but I managed.
Cagney Carnation: this took me the longest to defeat on isle 1, but I was able to manage it.
Isle 2.
Djimmi the great: took me the least amount of tries, 1st and 2nd phase where easy enough but the turban during the third phase was difficult to avoid and the last phase was fine.
Grim Matchstick: I really wanted to like this boss but I didn’t like the 2nd phase or the tail in the first phase. 3rd was tedious but fine.
Beppi the clown: I disliked the third phase and had a hard time keeping enough health for the last phase.
Wally warbles: it was easy not taking damage from phases 1 and 2 but screw the third phase and the fourth phase was fine.
Baroness von bon bon: I hated the first 3 phases because of the randomized enemies. I didn’t like the fourth phase ether with the homing head and keeping enough health for that phase.
Isle 3.
Sally stageplay: more annoying than difficult but was easy enough.
Werner Werman: also more annoying but I kept resetting the fight to have enough health for the last phase.
Roumor honeybottoms: easy enough fight, just annoying to avoid the stuff in the 2nd phase.
Cala maria: this fight took me the longest but wasn’t even that hard, I just kept resetting from taking at most 2 damage during the first phase and the other 2 phases where ok.
Captain brineybeard: this one was extremely rough, there was too much crowding the screen for my liking.
That’s it because I haven’t finished dr khal or the phantom express yet soo yeah.

Fact : King Dice cards have a heart bubble on their head when you play as Ms. Chalice, so I guess not too hard for dash parry.
I love how they say they'll be ranking only Regular Mode and then proceed to use Expert Mode footage avery 5 seconds
I had a lot of trouble with the captain because there were a lot of things on the screen and that damn cannon ball from the ship ceeps hitting me. So I would place him higher up on the list.

When I tried getting an A Grade in every boss it was the hardest to get the Robot on A

I straight up don't understand people finding Grim Matchstick or Rumor Honey Bottom particularly hard. I'll agree that Dr. Kahl is the hardest fight in the game, but those two are pretty straightforward.

It will make it harder at first but after a couple of try's it gets easier

I just beat the dlc today and I gotta say, that was quite a bit easier than I expected. The hardest of the dlc I found, was surprisingly the mountain guy. I beat saltbaker in 15 minutes, and most of the others in about the same time, but that mountain guy was so obnoxiously hard. But out of them all, I canNOT beat the stupid dog knight guy in the kings games, so hard for me bro

Paper Mario Bosses Ranked: Easiest to Hardest
Easiest: Goomba King (Paper Mario 64)
Average: King Olly (Paper Mario The Origami King)
Hardest: Bonetail (Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door)
You forgot to add Baroness Von Bon Bon.
How to beat (DLC) dr kahl: Equip Parry ring. Shoot the antenna, shoot the chest, destroy the antenna, destroy the vent, get to 5 to 6 hp then break the middle. Destroy the heart and in the 2nd phase go up and shoot him with ur 1st weapon then when he gets close use the nuke and then ur on phase 3. Go for parries so you can nuke him. Phase 3 of Dr Kahl is basically Phase 1.5 of Wally warbles but harder. When he stops shooting nuke him, then use E.X attacks until you win
You can actually skip the onion in root pack by not shooting it at all
This is my top5 difficulty list.

4. Howling aces
5. Salt baker

I tried to beat every boss in the game on expert and get an S rank, and besides goopy le grande and the root pack, they are all very difficult. I still haven’t beaten all the DLC because it seems nearly impossible
I REALLY think Phantom Express should be a bit higher, the first phase is not too bad if you use converge or rondabout but the second and third are actually really tough, with the pumkins moving the car and the head hitbox in the second phase, and the somewhat luck dependant third phase with the little ghost cornering you to not allow you to move the car on time for the lightning attack....maybe im bad at the game xd.
You forgot all 4 secrets phases. 1 for root pack, 1 for the genie, 1 for salie and last for the dog poilts.

Dice is easier with chalice because of parry dash, they radiate hearts that don’t hurt to dash on above the pink cards, making it the easiest part of the fight

For me I found the devil to be the hardest boss followed by Chef Saltbaker as they were the only bosses looked up on how to beat, Kahl's Robot and Djimmi the Great were the plane stages that took me the most attempts.
