Tallow is rocking out your way for sure. All of ours froze. Leaves just came back out. Don’t think we’ll see any shoots by the time the fill back out. Normally see the tags now and they bring the nectar mid-May. But not this season looks like. Not sure what we’ll make this season. 30 miles south and it’s blowing up, but no access to that. Tallow always amazes me in how fast the bees can fill the supers and how the tallow lasts so long. Id love to try to get out your way and do a Collab video to feature your operation. Maybe one day.
That’s frustrating. We were in a similar spot after the freeze 2 years ago. Set the trees back a good bit. Farming… lol. Would love to show you around anytime!
Great videos, Jake! I know it is more relaxed and fun to check hives all by your own, but show your crew is working progress. Commercial Beek from Estonia
appreciate your videos. What I like about them is your sense of production w/o a bunch of messing around. For a hobbyist (15 hives) I like to see how you just knock through endeavors that might be time consuming for me. I enjoy the bee yard work but appreciate being able to incorporate the efficiency that you must operate under. Can ya talk about your orange gloves? I have been using the heavy nitrile gloves and like them but want to hear about yours. In Alaska - eggs just being layed.
Thanks! Efficiency is key! The gloves are uline, the heaviest mil they have. I only use them for inspections most of the time. When and what kind of honey do your bees produce there? That’s a state I haven’t tried honey from.
Contact the cotton farmer, but cotton doesn’t need pollination services, so they won’t pay. They might give you permission to set them to make honey though.
Thanks. All my hives rely pretty much on the Mesquite Nectar flow for honey. But I’m looking to find other locations for our operation hopefully nearby us and away from people. Because our bees are very territorial.

Usually when I’m with my crew I’m getting serious work done and not picking up the camera. Hoping to get them pulling honey though!

Hello from Australia. Keep the videos coming 👍
Wow hello! Enjoy your lunch. I am going to bed yesterday 😂😂
@@beefarmerjake 😂😂😂
Love shaking nectar
Easily one of my favorite things. That and putting queens in splits after doing alllll that freaking work.
Best Wishes Jake with that heavy Tallow flow 👍
Thanks!
Tallows blooming period is over by now? Jun 24? Can you specify when the bloom begins. Thank you Jake.
Yeah, for us it runs around last week in april to 2nd week in june!
How many colonies do you guys run? Seems like you have plenty to keep you busy. Lol. Bees are doing a fine job!
Plentyyy haha around 3000
@@beefarmerjake holy cow. Lol. That’s a lot indeed.
I'm in the PNW. Saturday during my inspections I had nectar dripping onto my shoes, no shake required.
Nice!!! Obviously the weather is finally cooperating for you then…
@@beefarmerjake I have a bunch of maple trees nearby. It has a strong medicinal flavor. I'll definitely be leaving it for the bees.
Bees must be behaving- your hood is unzipped
I have been waiting for someone to catch this…. 😂😂😂 I do this way too often
How do you get set up pollinating cotton crops? Is there an organization to go through or do you just basically knock on cotton farmers doors?

Nice video, thanks a lot !!! Would you make a video on your thoughts about swarming: what you did or will do to control it
noted!
What county is this in? And do all of your honey supers have eight frame spacers?
We have bees all over deep southeast Texas. Supers are a mixture. Some of the boxes are older than me 😂
@@beefarmerjake I really like old equipment. It’s like owning an old beat up truck.
Do you have some videos on how you split you hives?
Just scroll a few videos back
