The one thing to keep in mind about the charging speed on the E-GMP vehicles, they sustain whatever power a charger is able to deliver for longer. I have an EV6 and I'm always astonished by how fast it charges on "slow" dc chargers. For example, the 150 kw chargers from EA. It will just sit there and charge between 150-170 (not sure why they go above 150kw) up until 80%. Mine never throttles down. Then...this is something that I think needs to be talked about more. It sustains high speed until 100%. Even at 97%, I was still able to get 50kw. Their e-gmp platform is just incredible.

Cool seeing Alex talking about the possible next trending for EVs: solid state batteries. Shows a bit of care for the technology he's reviewning, not just a "read the script". Congrats, guys!
solid state battery is still a "dream" , instead there's already the solution, Litium Iron Phosphate, more charge cycles, doesn't explode, needs less armor, so there's more batteries and range vs the current lipo solution in cars and bikes.
@@stevewang They are almost just as bad, especially when there are hundreds of them packed in a small space. However, they are a lot harder to get going though. Pretty much any high energy density battery will be due to the laws of physics! Thunderf00t has a good video about why.
@@linuxguy1199 lifepo4 doesn't have extra oxygen so it isn't self sustainable fire. It's a LOT BETTER, even compared to gasoline cars. packing too much is just the stupid engineering...a problem no technology can help. given they are less explosive, engineering a swap system is more possible, so less packing cars up with a ton of batteries, making less weight on shorter travels.. if they want. bikes especially, since a bunch of people already died from burning ebike repair shops. also a better solution that works and solves a major issue now is still better than WAITING for something ideal to hopefully make it to production. @@stevewangI can't wait for ev battery technology to have been continuously evolved in refined for 80 years like gas engines have. But you know what would be better than anything you mentioned? Batteries that are actually renewable, and aren't made from rare earth minerals. That way we wouldn't have to worry about running out of the resources to make them.
3:18 to me it looks more like semi capacitive buttons ( the capacitive part is like select and then push the whole button in to activate. So you have to actually push it so you can't accidentally push a button you didn't mean to witch I like )
Seems like production quality is definitely improving and is great, but guys can you high pass filter the audio (80/90hz)? The rumble from the inside of a car is so loud.
380km range is actually more than enough, if you drive fully charged from home, then it's about time for a toilett brake when it's out of juice anyway. And a toilet brake and a hot dog usually takes 10-20 minutes at the gas station anyway, so why just extend it a couple of more minutes until it's around 80%. then continue from there?
Alex is the reason I watch car reviews here. I can’t wait for Alex to be on the car channel when it arrives, he’ll kill it. Ps- hope to see your gti on there too :p
I really don't understand cars. How are the lights not standardized? I've seen turn signals in all sorts of colors and shapes and locations... that isn't safe.
The worst part about the gv70 is being at a 'genesis' dealership, which is really a hyundai dealership, which is probably really a chevy dealership that didn't make enough money.
So I used to work for Hyundai/Genesis and basically every EV they make has the same issue, the ICCU will eventually over heat and start a fire or just kill the iccu. Pretty sure they are working on a recall for it tho
Video Suggestion? I've always understood the general rule when charging a mobile/cell phone, that it's supposedly best to charge it from between roughly 20-80%. But is it worth doing a video on whether this applies to ALL? types of Batteries. EG:- Is charging your Dyson Vacuum Cleaner battery to fully charged for hours on end bad. Is charging your brand new electric scooter to 100% bad. Is charging your brand new electric vehicle parked in your garage overnight to 100% bad for it's type of battery???. Or is there actual different rules for different "types" of batteries???
As a used car, this might be doable. I could do completely without touch functions but considering where the market is, this is acceptable, if one tries hard enough to find it acceptable.
My car has wired android auto but there are wireless adapters available. After a week of going wireless, I've gone back to wired since AA + navigation destroys my battery.
I've complained about Alex's car reviews a bit in the past videos but this one is really good. Wouldn't mind getting explanations to high speed rebound for the normies. Or at the speakers with the "phantom image", no idea what that is. Very well done 🤝
Rebound is half of damping when the shock is extending. Really I was just talking about damping in general, which is the part of your suspension that stops the springs from just bouncing forever. Low Speed Damping: Smooth loads on the suspension like accelerating, braking, cresting a hill, or going over a large dip. High Speed Damping: When the suspension needs to move quickly, typically when you hit a bump. Got the GV70 it has soft Low Speed Damping, for instance it really squats when you hit the gas and rolls into corners, but it also has stiff High Speed Damping, so bumps get transmitted into your butt. Phantom Image is basically where you see the sound coming from when you close your eyes. With a really good sound system you'll hear the singer directly in the middle, with the instruments panned left to right each in a distinct location. If there is no phantom image the sound just sounds like it is coming directly from the speaker.

Very convenient for selecting music and displaying maps. Most manufacturer software sucks too so it’s nice to have a decent interface with CarPlay/android auto
I'd love to know if the cars you review have a USB port that can be natively used for putting your music on them. I don't want another subscription, and I've been using a USB key for all my music for well over a decade now... And that's one of the things about the XC40 Recharge (which I've been considering in part because of your review) that you guys haven't mentioned - it needs a third-party app (BandWagon I believe?) to play music from a USB drive... because Google doesn't believe in natively supporting it in Android Automotive, apparently. Otherwise, great content as usual. Shame about that range tho. :X
Why is it that every car that has wireless charging is limited to wired android auto/apple carplay? I had a 2022 Hyundai Elantra that had wireless phone connection, but only wired charging. I got a 2023 model one trim up for the same payments and I got wireless charging but lost the wireless connectivity I wanted. It's so frustrating
Some of the b roll test roads look really similar to what you see in throttle house. I'm American and don't know the terrain of southern Canada all that well, or the location of each channel's base of operations, but it's just a small observation.
I would say I'm a car guy. And I don't want a 500hp momwagon. I might be abit biased when it comes to cars, because I want a good driving car (which needs a good manual) and not a fast one (so no automatics). Which makes many high hp cars and SUV's irrelevant to me. But, I'd rather drive an electric car over a bad automatic (which with my pingley ass comes quite often). So if the eGV70 came with 200-250hp (because of the extra weight) I'd already be hella down as like a secondary daily next to something like a GT4 or so.
back to the battery tho, if they didn't put this much power in the cars (which translates to the batteries needing to put out xy- amount of power), they could use batteries which offer more range.
I own the genesis gv70 gas very and i have the same inerior and nebr have a problem with fingers making the area around the shifters really. that means your hands have be very dirty or oily to be having that problem.
I *hope* that its ANC is tuned to consistent sounds, like road & wind noise. If it's somehow tuned to block out irregular sounds (car horns, bike bells, human voices) they've fucked up massively
@@Collin_J I wouldn't mind blocking of excessive sounds, but we both know which one it is. Cars are already sound isolated, relying on distracted driver to pick up visual cues. This is wrong.
Would be also good if weights were in kilograms so normal people who follow standard scientific units can understand. Don’t worry america you’ll get there one day!
I understand being pissed at a lack of wireless android auto, but from someone who has a car with wireless android auto. It sucks. It NEEDS to be better. I've tried multiple phones and usually it works for the first few weeks. After that it will start randomly disconnecting and will eventually refuse to connect at all unless you completely clear all app data and remove the phone in your car. I've tried a Xiaomi and 2 Samsung's. It just won't work. Went back to the dealer but there wasn't anything they could do.
It almost has all the features a used 2017 Ford Edge Sport has for twice the cost... 1 sec slower 0-60 and some v6 twin-turbo lag is a small price to pay unless you just really want electric.
Seriously if you want a reliable performance vehicle with room... just look at whatever model your local police stations use. They're just a custom version of the consumer vehicles, but they are usually the best bang for the buck between features and performance due to small precinct budgets. Designed to be driven 24/7, handle pursuits, room for K-9s, and most importantly intoxicated people in the back seat (kid proof). Police basically pick the perfect family vehicle aside from fuel costs.
@@Triflixfilms except they normally pick American companies just because they're American (and there's probably various deals they're getting from the companies that are also sweetening the offers.) There's often more sensible and better vehicles made by a foreign manufacturer, but they don't use it because what they get is "good enough" with probably a better cost (to them specifically because of bulk buying) and without the appearance of being "UnAmerican" to a bunch of people who usually don't have their head screwed on straight.

Some of the b roll test roads look really similar to what you see in throttle house. I'm American and don't know the terrain of southern Canada all that well, or the location of each channel's base of operations, but it's just a small observation.
Alex looks like the Tetris creator from the Tetris movie.
Best review yet Alex. Could be a little bit longer but that's probably going to have to wait for a dedicated car channel.
Note about the audio: I watched this on my home theater and the rumble during the road test was obnoxious.
not having carplay is a deal breaker for me
Why doesn't LMG have a separate channel for car content?
Interesting, if you think so good of this car I wonder if you'll review the Volvo ex 30😊
Also like this car. Will prob never see it in the UK .
B roll is great
I would say I'm a car guy.
So if the eGV70 came with 200-250hp (because of the extra weight) I'd already be hella down as like a secondary daily next to something like a GT4 or so.
and, metallic > matte
if we talk satin-pearl this could get hard
we hate piano black not because of fingerprints, but because of how easy it gets scuffed and scratched up
back to the battery tho, if they didn't put this much power in the cars (which translates to the batteries needing to put out xy- amount of power), they could use batteries which offer more range.
6:07 forget Star wipe! Introducing Car wipe!
I own the genesis gv70 gas very and i have the same inerior and nebr have a problem with fingers making the area around the shifters really. that means your hands have be very dirty or oily to be having that problem.
Wait till he find out about MG4 XPOWER, now that’s a real sleeper for a mom car 👀
North van traffic is inescapable. Thought I would be safe in this review but no, you had to bring it up 😂
Would it be an electric car video if at some point he didn't jam on the pedal and go "Whoa!"?
ANC in cars is dangerous and should not be allowed. Why can't bikes have earphones but cars get ANC in closed, isolated cabins ?
I *hope* that its ANC is tuned to consistent sounds, like road & wind noise. If it's somehow tuned to block out irregular sounds (car horns, bike bells, human voices) they've fucked up massively
@@Collin_J I wouldn't mind blocking of excessive sounds, but we both know which one it is. Cars are already sound isolated, relying on distracted driver to pick up visual cues. This is wrong.
We need dbrand anti-fingerprint skins for cars.
Would have been nice to have not only kilometers for the distance but miles on the screen too
Would be also good if weights were in kilograms so normal people who follow standard scientific units can understand. Don’t worry america you’ll get there one day!
@andrewbrown8463 Everything should be in both unit types so that everyone can understand at a glance without having to do some simple math
Haha Ford. No thanks.
@@neemanon Better bang for the buck SUV without spending $25k+ for sub 30k miles?
@@Triflixfilms except they normally pick American companies just because they're American (and there's probably various deals they're getting from the companies that are also sweetening the offers.) There's often more sensible and better vehicles made by a foreign manufacturer, but they don't use it because what they get is "good enough" with probably a better cost (to them specifically because of bulk buying) and without the appearance of being "UnAmerican" to a bunch of people who usually don't have their head screwed on straight.
@@Triflixfilmshahaha german so bmw 5 series wagon and mercedes c and e class? ok the older e class wagons are releiable but the newer ones idk. same goes for the bmw.
Alex is a car guy. His reviews don't pull punches and he doesn't gloss over faults just because it's an EV
380km range is a problem for road trips - laughs in European where in 380km I could reach about 3/4 of our border.
Why no sony wf1000xm5 review/short circuit?
I now watch more LTT for EVs than Top Gear!
3:16 Why does the whole button move like that if it is a capacitive touch?
Nghhhhh Knoooooobs, I honestly don't need a super fancy infotainment system. If I have my music and the navigation system is readable, I'm alright. No need to watch netflix in my car on the infotainment screen.
The back of this car looks like Heisenbergs Pontiac Aztec
I can actually see that
Um, I'm pretty sure I'm the best sleeper on the market and I am for hire!
Charge port on the front... I guess korea doesnt have love bug season
