Genesis Now Has 3 EVs, Which Should You Get? Electrified GV60 vs GV70 vs G80

  • I was recently able to drive the Genesis EV portfolio on an east coast road trip and came away impressed. I also came away with the surprising conclusion that the "converted" EVs are not only pretty darn good, but that the Genesis GV70 is currently my top pick over the GV60 which is a ground up EV design.

    I chose the GV60 advanced. Designed as an EV from the ground up and the cheapest option. Love the flat floor, open area between driver's and passenger's seat, and storage compartment between the front and rear seats

      Agree. And I put a stealth hitch on mine, which gives you a lot of the functionality of a larger SUV for bike racks and trailers. Genesis doesn't offer an OEM hitch yet, but I think the stealth hitch is better anyway.

      I'll choose the GV60 Base with the RWD. Range is the upmost importance to me.

      @@JT-fq2blI'd likely do the same. We don't have any serious winter weather, so AWD isn't any real advantage. I do like the GV70, too, but the extra length is a disadvantage for a city dweller. I like the styling, and the front charge port, but that copper color on the GV60 is sharp, and I slightly prefer the interior.

    • @daflipbizkit
      @daflipbizkit 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I went with a grey gv60 performance. Range isn’t an issue because I ise it as a commuter car 42 miles a day. I charge weekly and use it with 2 kids comfortably on mid range weekend family/ friends events. The interior and features that actually matter eclipse anything Tesla has to offer even if they offer better range and a cheaper price. Build quality doesn’t suck either hehe

    • @martman123456
      @martman123456 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed, but you lose certain options, like massage seats and heated rear seats, which is annoying. They should give you the option of fully loading it without the bigger motors. The extra power isn't that important, but the reduced range is a deal breaker.

    • @james2042
      @james2042 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @martman123456 I wouldn't be buying this if I planned on having people in the back often enough to warrant heated rear seats. This would be a commuter car. As long as the drivers seat has all the bells and whistles I wouldn't care.

    I've had the GV60 for 6 months, and I've said from the beginning and to the dealer, I have no idea why people would want the GV70 instead, for roughly $10,000 more. Even with the tax credit it's crazy.

    • @stephenj280
      @stephenj280 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      I'll bite. Had a deposit on a GV60 but decided to wait for the GV70. Prefer traditional door handles, material quality of GV70>60, sunroof that opens, rear wiper, prefer 20" wheels over 21" wheels, and I have a slight preference for the styling of the GV70. There's no wrong answer, but those were my reasons. And in Canada the difference is $5k btw the two, not $10k

    • @martman123456
      @martman123456 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@stephenj280 That's fair. If they added some of the tech from the GV60 to the 70, it would be a more attractive buy for me. I actually use the face recognition to get in and drive quite a bit. It's wierd to not have that on the GV70 when they already the biometric software.

    • @volcalstone
      @volcalstone 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@martman123456yeah I know $10K is a lot of money but to me it's worth it as imo it makes the GV60 a perfect EV with the EGV70. I know looks is subjective but I'm not a fan of the rear of the GV60. Other then that I like everything else about it. I was thinking of getting the GV60 Performance but when I heard EGV70 was coming out I lost all interest in it as for just $5K ($70K vs $75K) more you get a way better vechicle imo. They're both overpriced at the end tho. With the EV6 GT going for $55K only I'll rather just get that. 😅

    • @martman123456
      @martman123456 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@volcalstone The performance and the EV6 GT were not contenders for me. There's a small acceleration difference in a straight line, but nothing worth the significant drop in range regardless of price. And they don't handle any better in the corners. As for GV60 or GV70, the EGV70 looks just like the non-electric version, so it really seems like it's aimed at older folks who don't want an aggressively styled car. To me, the GV60 looks like a cross between a Tesla and an old Porsche 911. But styling aside, if they're going to charge more for the GV70, they should offer it with the more innovative features they put on the GV60, like facial recognition and the drawer-style glove box.

    Please do not make the same mistake as me and purchase a Genesis vehicle. I have been to two different dealerships, 4 separate times, for 6 different issues. None of them have been fixed. This is for a regular gas car. I cannot imagine how awful the quality and reliability of Genesis EVs will be. Do yourself a favor and go with another brand that cares about quality and cares about actually solving the issues that exist with their vehicles.
    Just another note: Hyundai straight up breaks lemon laws and forces you to go to court against them. Once again, save yourself the pain and buy something else.
