Honda really need some marketing tips. At least 2 years too late. The RCV is now the dog on the grid. The mess up over the power / road use / race set up / power in the US was hopeless. Just looking forward to a WSBK or normal bike coming from this. Not as if many will be taking theirs to trackdays......Sounds nice but alot of mechanical noise.

The R1M is a 443lb motorcycle. My CBR1000 weighs the exact same. It doesnt matter how much power the R1M puts out it is at a 53 pound disadvantage. You have compared a production street bike to a custom built GP bike. Honda has given people an HRC built GP bike. When benchmarked on Motegi this bike was 0.3 seconds slower than their open class GP bike.Open class GP bikes cost 1.3 million dollars to lease. They are the slowest bikes on the MotoGP grid. Despite being the slowest, they are on AVERAGE 5 seconds a lap faster than the FASTEST WSBK bikes. GP bikes are non production. WSBK bikes are production motorcycles with fancy parts. The R1M alone is on average 5 seconds slower than some of the slowest WSBK bikes on the track. So in essence what you have compared is a street bike to a GP bike. The RC will on average be 10-15 seconds FASTER per lap than an R1M just given the laptimes that exist. You are paying for a custom build, high end electronics including Honda's revolutionary traction control that actually takes tire brands into account with temperature and tire degradation values to deliver torque appropriately lap after lap without ever generating slip. This system was so good in fact that GP rules have been changed this year to force manufacturers to share traction control technology so Honda does not have the ability to pair their huge HP advantage with their proprietary TC. Now getting back on point, your comment about 160hp is moot. Honda have a great understanding of how this market works. Everyone gets a bike, throws on an exhaust and get a tune to smoothen out the power curve on these bikes. All they have done to restrict the bike is reduce the redline for certain markets and provided a race kit to appease environmental restrictions. This bike was NEVER built for any particular market. It was just retuned to a specific market without the addon of a restrictive exhaust. Most intelligent people see through that ruse. A simple ECU switch gives you all 215hp. No one with the means to buy this bike is going to keep it at the stock power rating. Simply put the bike you compared it to aka the R1M is a great machine no doubt. But maybe it's time for people to open their freaking eyes and understand the difference between a bike with GP stickers, and a bike that is a literally a GP bike with lights on it. GP bikes have NEVER been cheap. Every part on it is custom built. People bitch and moan at Honda who have taken the RC213 and put it on the road with the same tech motor and chassis. But everyone sits happy with the Aprilia ART bike or the Desmoscidici thinking those are great bikes when they are street bikes and share NOTHING with their GP counterparts. Honda has built bikes like this before. The NR750 was 90k when it came out in the 90's. The NSR500 in 1999 was 180,000 as well. If you're too poor to buy it, thats fine. Calling it a waste just illustrates your stupidity and inability to judge a bike past the stickers on it. Much like a 5 year old. Hell the fact that you talk about slapping a turbo on a bike just shows you've never gone knee down before. Linear throttle control is what people want not a bloody turbo on their bike. Stick to your video games or if you actually ride, stick to a drag strip. Some of us understand the difference between power and finesse. Power is easy to engineer. Finesse isn't.
