    I have this Sailor Imperial Black fountain pen with the H-F nib. Been writing for nearly 10 years with it as a daily driver. Absolutely love it! Thank you for posting this detailed review: very nicely done!

    I’m definitely a fan of the 21k Medium Sailor nib, which, when tuned properly, writes like a freshly opened felt tipped marker. I’ve had a Pro Gear that was over-polished, and wrote like a paint brush, though, so getting a properly tuned one is crucial. I personally like having feedback to my medium pens, because the drag makes me slow down my writing, and allows me to write more neatly. Sometimes my Pilot E95S writes too fast, because it’s so smooth. For reference, my daily use gold pen is a Pilot Custom Heritage 91 Soft Fine, which is perfect for me because it allows me to write quickly and with a minimal amount of pressure. The 21k softness of the Sailor nib also allows some dampening to the feedback. What I don’t like are hard and toothy nibs like the 14K nib in the Pro Gear Slim Shikiori edition models, which give my fingers nerve pain. Large, dampened feedbacky Medium nibs are perfect for my use requirements.

      @@chi-towncalifornia5916 the E95S in medium is one of the smoothest nibs in my collection, and I agree with you it can sometimes be hard to control. For me the sailor MF is a bit too toothy and this medium is a hair smoother. I find their Broad nibs are the sweet spot for me.

    Thank you for yet another fine review!!
    The Sailor Pro Gear regular size is my favorite pen! I do not own this stealth black version.
    I'd like to buy one in the future.

    FWIW - The finish is not 'gun metal' it is ruthenium plate - quite something.
    The nib is ruthenium plated too. How could you miss that?
    It is better balanced when posted. It seems to be designed that way. (I seldom post my pens)
    A superb pen.
    Good luck with the channel.

    There is definitely something happening with the consistency at Sailor because is the second video I have seen where there were complaints about the "toothiness" of the nib. I got this exact pen yesterday, and my experience is the opposite. The pen is ultra-smooth with the barest hint of that familiar Sailor feedback. It is one of the wettest pens I own and it is a gigantic medium, much closer to a Japanese B. The pen is too short for me to use unposted even though my hands are regular-sized, as far as I know. I agree about the lack of a converter - hugely disappointing. But that matte black finish is almost erotically satisfying, it is such a handsome pen. I love it!

    Great video as always. They are expensive due to the 21k gold nib. How does it compare to Pilot Custom 823. If my money, I'll go with the Pilot. What you think? Thanks again for the great videos especially on the Pilot Custom 823... my grail.😊

      @ForTheLoveOfPens  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@fjschnitzer1 thank you! Personally I prefer the the Pilot 823 but they don’t have much in common. Pilot nibs are polished to be much smoother than Sailor. Also the 823 is a vacuum filler while this is a cartridge converter.

    Very nice review. To me it is a 1911 with a flat top and end finial. I know this may be wrong but it doesn't say I should buy it over the 1911L

    What is difference between this imperial black and regular pro gear large model? Imperial black is costlier, though I get it comes with converter and ink bottle now but difference between both models is still steep….

    • @ForTheLoveOfPens
      @ForTheLoveOfPens  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the difference is mainly material finishes. To my knowledge the design is the same as the standard Pro Gear.
