Loved all the colours here, especially liked the bungubox and lighthouse!
Please do a video of a writing sample too!

That lighthouse model looks much nicer & darker than I’ve seen in photos. Very nice!
My #1 is the Imperial. Absolutely ❤️ the matte finish with the dark trim.

Love this pen and agree that it’s the best! You kind of make me want a Lighthouse now...

Love your presentation! My first Sailor is on its way, a Pro Gear Realo. Never played with one before but I really love the look of their nibs and I got one in my uni's color. 😀

Thanks so much for checking out the review! Hope you love your Realo. I now have a Realo as well and it's an excellent pen!

Just picked up a Large Pro Gear in boring black & silver / broad nib. Good thing I didn’t see that Sunrise edition first. That’s pretty epic. Love the color keyed converters. Great job here. Thanks.

Thanks for the review of your impressive pens. I was disappointed at the lack of a writing sample and I had hoped for a size contrast with the smaller version (if you own any). I am sorely tempted to get one of these but your comment that the nibs are so firm has me reconsidering. I like a bit of bounce in my nibs. Thanks again !

Sailor used to make soft nibs but those are extremely hard to find these days. If you like bouncy nibs you should look at Pilot's pens.

Great review! I just purchased my first Sailor Pro Gear and I can't wait! The Bungbox was beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

    Excellent review. Great collection.
My Sailor 1911S with a extra fine nib and the recently acquired Taccia Spectrum with a steel Sailor extra fine nib are tied for my second favorite pens.

Thank you for a great video of a magnificent pen series! Someone described writing with a Sailor nib as like writing with a freshly sharpened pencil: I find that a very apt description of the writing experience.
I have just purchased my 12th (!) pro gear, so I definitely agree with your opinion that the Sailor Pro Gears are some of the greatest pens available (but the Large 1911 are wonderful too, and let's not forget Pelikans). Interestingly, I bought an Aurora Optima last year which I found to be very close to Sailor pro gear, although the Japanese nib is better.
As you point out in your video, Sailor does a large number of beautiful exclusive pens for shops and certain geographical areas, like the USA. If only these were made more widely available. I have a wonderful pro gear gold demonstrator which I found on a business trip in Taiwan, which the shop owner told me was a special edition just for his shop. I suppose finding these is part of the fun, but it is nevertheles frustrating! I live in Europe so regret that I may not be able to find the Sailor Lighthouse pen which you show in the video- that is an absolutely gorgeous pen.
I look forward to more Sailor videos!

Delightful viewing a beauty pageant of these outstanding pens. I have a pair of the Sailor PG black with chrome with different inks in them. And a pair of the piston filling Pro Gear Realo, a deep burgundy and the other a marine blue one. Have you seen the Pro Gear II? - identical to the Pro Gear except that the PG II is a bit longer at both ends because of the finials. And the clip has an added minor design feature. I have one of
them. Anyway, these 21 k nibs are to die for. Absolutely dependable, consistent, and immensely pleasurable to use. Most of mine are B nibs, and I even have a zoom nib on one of them. I enjoyed it a lot.
All of your collection seen here look swell. The orange one will stay on my mind for days. 🙂

Where did you get that violet on the upper left ? It’s amazing.

That’s a Wancher collaboration with sailor. You can get them pretty easily on eBay or from Wancher’s website.

Great review. Wondering where you going the clear demonstrator with white gold nib? I've only found the two tone nib in the clear.

    • @MatthewMorse
      @MatthewMorse  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Mine came this way. Not sure if maybe there was a change at some point to the two tone nib?

@@MatthewMorse Must've been a change. I hope that at some point they do an 'Imperial White' (White with black trim) to complement the Imperial Black.

The standard colours are all a bit boring to me. I love the cocktail series pens but there is no way that the more than doubled price is justified by a little colour grading in the resin. I really want to try the nib though! Ignoring line variation how springy is the nib in comparison to a steel Jowo #6? I've had a platinum 3776 which didn't give any real line variation but the nib was soft and flexible and this was a nice feeling.

Apologies for the late reply on this! Sailor nibs are pretty stiff, lending to their almost pencil-like feedback. I would say they're about comparable to a Jowo #6 although you might be able to squeeze a tiny bit more variation out of a Jowo #6 just based on the longer tines / longer nib.

You think this pen looks a little 'monolithic'? Try fixing it into the end of the 1911!
