It’s amazing, isn’t it? The precision and expertise required to turn giant redwood pieces on a massive lathe are mind-blowing! The scale of the work is incredible, and the skill involved in shaping such large, heavy wood safely is truly impressive. It’s not just craftsmanship-it's a blend of art, engineering, and sheer strength!

That turned out beautiful! But the only thing I could think of watching this video was the lovely red and white non dyed weed free mulch that would be a blessing in my garden beds!

I know it's alllllll about wood working....but I love how my guy got the matching hat and bandana 💪🏾💪🏾 you look good you feel good....yall know the rest
Love to see expert work performed. Especially fascinating to watch craftsmen from other places across the world ply their trades - from a shop, with access to different materials, different sensibilities regarding what people want, different set-ups, tools, etc. Awesome, guys, thank you!! 🙏🏼💗
This looks incredible, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to first saw off some of that wood to leave usable offcuts instead of just turning everything that's not the end product into chips 🤔
I've seen that done with large wooden bowls, where they use a curved tool that cuts out the inside, then use the cutout for a second bowl. Hard to imagine how this could be done with this huge piece of expensive looking wood, but it does seem like a lot of waste. I guess the explanation is "not feasible "
The Master Craftsman demonstrated his skills, dedication, talent, knowledge, expertise, patience, courage, determination, professionalism, integrity, and above all, attention to minute details.
Is not "beautiful", I don't understand how you can cut down a tree to make a vase as huge as it is useless and to put corpses of flowers in it, it's stupid and a worrying symptom of our civilization infected by its consumerism. It's not art because it's reproduced in huge numbers.
My great grandson is asking "What species of tree? How much did the piece weigh before and after finishing? What kind of blades were used on your right angle grinder? Did you hand-rub Tung, Danish or ____________ oil to preserve and/or enhance the wood?"
Redwood is redwood. The more famous redwood is probably the Sequoia of California, but there is also another, smaller species of redwood in California and Oregon.
@@renatocanetti4469 I hope not, that is an endangered species. I dont think it is Padauk either as that is African and the turner here looks most likely Vietnamese (also a PG Bank calendar on the wall which is a Vietnamese bank). Likely Vietnamese Mahogany or possibly Vietnamese Redwood (Dalbergia tonkinensis also endangered and sales of it are illegal).
In awe of the extreme danger and skill involved in giant red wood turning. Woodworking on a colossal lathe is truly captivating!
They are made by skilled workers

Wow! I turn a lot but this is beyond the pale. Magnicent turner and magnificent wood. Thank you.
100 year old redwood for some wealthy dude.
@@KGohBoy: of course you're right but that doesn't change what this turner did.
He has done all this with nothing but his hands and a simple wood turning machine. No fancy machinery. Give him credit for that.
Полностью согласен,но сколько ценного дерева ушло в отходы.Это всеравно как купить билет на поезд а пойти пешком.
Good work ❤❤❤❤
That’s crazy but it’s so beautiful
My grandfather got a lot of wood turning; this certainly beats that. This is beautiful and big.
Wow, I never knew technology could blend so seamlessly with traditional craftsmanship until I saw these Wood CNC machines in action.

The most impressive thing about this guy is that he still has 10 fingers

I was more impressed at first that he had actual closed told shoes on. But then at 1:20, there was the sandals.
And two functioning eyes. I couldn't see any eye protection
