    Loved both of your results! I’ve been experimenting with plopping and no plopping lately too, I think I prefer when I plop for 5-10 minutes though it seems to set my wavier hair better 😊❤️

    Thanks for the video! I used to use a regular hair tie to secure my plop instead of tying it. That way you can control how tight the plop is. I now have the Perfect Haircare towel which has a drawstring.

    I have a lot of hair and my curls would always look better (but messy) when I'd sleep on them. Plopping is the /actually/ way to help my heavy curls be bouncy! Mind blow, thank you!
    I just got out of the shower and all these methods are new to me. I watching my hair air dry wanting to touch it and wished I had plopped instead haha
    Next time, I can't wait to see the results!

    Hi Gena, The No Plopping had a much better result, with great curl definition and volume.

    This plopping worked very well for me. I cannot believe the struggles I’ve had with my curly hair since it thinning out and I just discover this method. How awesome. I also found a shampoo,conditioner and mousse that works for me about the same time I found this plopping. Maui products work amazing and specially with the plopping. My hair is no longer fuzzy and my curls now have an awesome curly bounce. Back to the tighter curls YES. I put the Maui mousse on very damp hair. Then scrunch the damp hair and then plop for 20 to 30 minutes in a cotton t shirt. My hair is a little damp once o take the t off but I will scrunch more and let it air dry. I’m so happy I learned about plopping as well as giving Maui hair products a try. Just simply and finally happy to have my hair back after many years of it thinning out

      the light green maui shampoo and conditioner is the best combo i've found for my curls! my hair loves that stuff, i can tell a difference when i use something else.

    Your videos always help me so much as we have the same hair. But my curls never look as good as yours lmao.
    I also live in an arid environment so trying to keep moisture in my hair is so difficult.

    Great results on both sides. I guess it depends on which look you're going for and which method fits best into your schedule. =]

      I agree! I had shorter diffusing time with plopping.

  • @makeupjunkie723

    I like the no plopping side better. It looks thicker and more definition. Especially in the back

    What would you do if your hair turned out looking wet but still dry and crunchy?

  • @ineverleavemyroom2683
    @ineverleavemyroom2683 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I dunno if it's just me or if I'm doing it wrong, but whenever I plop I lose definition on the sides of my hair and the front of my hair gets flat.. overall it's just crushing my curls and letting it dry in wonky positions 😕

    • @StormyDay
      @StormyDay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plopping makes the top of my hair flat. And about 6 inches shorter, I always have to go in and rewet.

  • @smccarty44
    @smccarty44 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am definitely going to try plopping this way! Thank you for the video. One question though, if using the BounceCurl leave-in under their gel as you suggested for fine hair, would you still apply it on damp hair like you did the cream, or would you apply it while in the shower and then skip to gel on damp hair? I’ve been loving damp styling lately!!

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either way! I’ve done both 😊 I find that creams and leave ins work well on wet hair because they soak in and don’t appear white on the surface. Just be cautious of scrunching or plopping with a towel can remove some cream.

    So I’m confused. U did a video of diffusing with head upright. But if I plop all my hair goes forward. That not the same as brush it forward right? I get way better results plopping cause my hair is long I can’t sit and denman it. I love all ur videos though and thank you for sharing

  • @majorpsych19

    I really crave volume, hold, and definition so I'd like to try the plop method.

    • @majorpsych19
      @majorpsych19 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      update! so I tried it, and definitely got more volume and hold with some frizz. my curls tightened a lot to corkscrew size all on the top, when they're normally bigger with deep waves. I think they're nice overall, but I'm realizing I like the look of bigger curls on me personally. I still will use that brushing away from the scalp technique for more volume now!
      thanks Gena!

  • @hardenzielig

    The no-plopping side looks fuller and softer compared to the plopping side. The plopped side looks a bit like there's still parts that need to be scrunched out. Although there is no 'bad' side, the no-plopping side is far more beautiful in my opinion. And I like to add that results of course will be different on everyone's hair.

  • @tomarcrauswell5613

    Please clue me in on the witchcraft you use to keep from having that stuck to the scalp wonky bits in the back after plopping. Please.

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha I think that happens when you leave it on too long and it starts to dry. How long do you plop? My hair was still pretty wet after 20 minutes of plopping

    I think your hair looks great in both sides! but you did have more shrinkage in the plop side
    I personally only plop for the time I get out of the shower to the moment I finish dressing, just so I don't drip water over everything
    But also, because when I have plopped after styling my hair, I feel that my ends end up kinda straight (when my ends are the part of my hair that gets more curly), so I don't like it that much

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here! I like to go do my makeup while plopping, and it helps it not air dry too fast before I get to diffuse.

    I like your curl definition and volume with plopping. The no plopping looks good too just a looser curl. I've tried plopping (although I think I did it wrong) but after I take it down my hair is still so wet. I just ordered my Hair RePear towel. Hair is 3A high porosity low density fine. Any advice?

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’ll love the towel! It’s more absorbent than a tshirt. I would use it to scrunch out some of the water before you plop too

    When I have tried plopping, it mashes my super fine hair onto my head and it makes the back part of my hair not hang right.
    I just don't do it!

      I also have fine, low density hair. I started “scrunching” my roots gently in the towel right after I plop. Not only are the roots not smashed it helps me get definition at the root! 😊

    Plopping for too long causes frizz and turns the curls deformed and squished. I just plop while getting dressed after shower so I protect the curls from rubbing against the clothes )

  • @Elizabeth-kl9ps

    I only wet plop long enough to get clothes on
