I have thin hair too. Its terrible. I just made braids and i forgot how bald i look without extra hair twisted in. My hair is already halfway down my back so i have length. Just no thickness. Lots of volume though
Have rewatched this video 5 times. I used the damp styling method and OMG what beautiful (but not yet perfected) defined and shiny curls I got!! Before I was putting all products in shower. No more AND the last step of oil to undo the crunchiness …WOW!! Just for reference I am 59 years old woman from South Texas and only started embracing my curls June of 2022. Before I flat ironed my hair for years. Thanks Mel!!
Every hair is different some method suits for other's but don't suit my hairs so the key point is to know what suits your hair and style them the way your hair looks good
Jacey E here, I’ve been watching on and off for a few years but recently I’ve gotten 100% back into curly hair care. You (and a few others) have inspired me to go to cosmetology school and specialize in curly hair. I already feel like I have a leg up from watching your channel! Thank you for being such a fun educator for fellow curlies!
@@princessbanannahammock3925 hi! Of course I would love to include all textures, even wavies😊 I also have super fine hair, so I think I understand some of your struggle!
The comp-hair-ison is perfect show and tell proof! Thank you for making curly hairstyling fun and easy to understand! Happy 6th year anniversary 💜 - Cindy W
This is probably by far one of my favorite videos. This is what I love about you and Amanda. You can be real and admit perhaps everything doesn't work for everyone. I am an OG and I feel you have done this from the beginning. It's not about what works for you for us to follow, but the science and techniques behind it. I enjoy watching other curly influencers but always come back to you. I learned early on that many influencers just shared what worked for them and I became frustrated not understanding why it didn't work for me. Then came Mel. Not only teaching but doing so in a way that made it easy to understand the science behind it. I've always wore my hair curly growing up, but I fell in love with it as an adult watching you. I look forward to every Texture Thursday. Even my straight haired hubby knows when you arw on and it is do not disturb. Thanks for all you do.
Since I was little I always blowdried my hair because I didn’t know how to take care of my curls, for years I watched random youtube tutorials that never worked until these past 6 months I found your channel , since then I’ve tried to buy myself whatever you recommend per month so I can build my hair to a healthy natural state but I’ve really learned so much from you as you know exactly what you’re talking about and you make your videos interesting and funny and informative . So although i have been here 6 months not 6 years , regardless im so glad I found your channel , including also learning from Amanda and her own routine ! Nicki H
Ah! The big damp vs wet debate. I’ve been wondering about oil after hairspray vs before. This is a helpful recap 💇🏻♀. It’s so hard when you’re transitioning - so many variables to consider. And you’re never sure because your hair isn’t going to be at its greatest when starting out no matter what you do or use.
That's me right now. I'm 41 and only just now learning that I'm curly, but I just can't get it to look good at all. I'm really discouraged, I don't know what I'm doing wrong or if I just have naturally ugly hair.
I have a loose wave pattern and painfully low porosity hair (I can dunk my head in a pool and come up with my hair being mostly still dry). Brush styling, damp styling, and hover diffusing leaves my waves so stretched that they disappear by the end of the day. Thanks for recognizing that not all methods work for all hair types!
I can’t believe it’s been 6 years I’ve been watching you for about 5 years myself. I’ve really learned so much from your videos and I’m still learning how to perfect my hair. This video gave me more ideas for my own hair. I love the bloopers at the end they make me laugh no matter what mood I’m in 😊❤️
I straightened my hair my whole life and in 2020 I tried following your advice and nothing looked good. Gave up and went back to blow outs. But in 2022 I went through an awful break up and then shortly after my dad died and I had no desire to even leave my apartment let alone do my hair. A year ago, I just wanted to feel new and I cut my hip length hair to my shoulders and decided to just do a lazy styling with mousse and my god my curls were amazing and I came back to your videos and it’s like a world of a difference bc now my hair quality is better and I follow your advice daily, you are the curly hair guru!
Mel, thank you so much for your content. The info you provide on your channel, Manes by Mel, was informative and encouraging. I finally had confidence to trim my own hair following your instructions. My hair is more wavy to curly, similar to your cousin's. Eventually, I'll get some of the products suggested, like the leavein conditioner. Tks again.❤
I think some of the frustration comes from the trial and error of natural hair, whereas styling with heat tools with the same techniques is very consistent across hair textures and curl patterns. Your natural hair is yours and yours alone, and your preferred look along with your lifestyle and environment are going dictate how you style it and what products you use.
Omg you are HYSTERICAL!! I LOVE watching your videos. All the way to the very end!! I am a TOTAL ManesbyMell girl. I use to be a Curly Girl, but realized that it was damaging my hair, and my curl was suffering. I love love love my hair now that I follow Mell. Everyone comments on my curls, they love them! And my hair is soooo much healthier. Congratulations on six years! Here's to the next six, or more, and I will be watching and following the whole way!! Yours in curls, Robyn C.
I've been watching for years and I'm still amazed how much I learn in every new video. Watching you evolve as a host, as well as watching your hair change as you and Amanda got us through the pandemic with at home haircuts has been such a joy. Congrats on 6 years! I'm so grateful for you and your seester and I am excited to watch for many more years! P.S. that purple top is gorgeous.
I was here in 2019 then got super depressed and gave up on my hair for awhile and now I’m back and Y’ALL’S HAIR!!!! Amanda’s looks so good too! The progress is amazing!!!
Happy Texture Thursday!! Happy anniversary!! The Guido trio!! You guys are truly amazing!! Thank you for all you do!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo 😘 Deanna H.
Thank you for being so curl inclusive ❤ I just combed out my locs and I’m struggling but your expertise makes this transition so much better. Patrice B.
Stephanie P. Congrats on 6 years! It’s been so amazing being part of the curly journey with you! I’ve learned so much from you and I always enjoy your humor 😂 Love you. ❤
Over the years your channel is my go to and I recommend your channel to everyone I meet that has questions about curly hair... hair in general. You have brought me through so much lol out of the days of cgm and cold showers, and styling my hair soaking wet upside down causing back pain. My hair and my back thank you! I'm so happy curries and wavies are talking about frizz being okay. I know for so long it seemed frizz was the enemy along with sulfates and silicones. I've been learning lately I need a little bit of frizz. I was using your ribbon curl technique and it took me too long to realize it wasn't working. It finally hit me that brush styling was causing more mechanical damage and pulling out my hair. I recently made some changes and that includes being okay with frizz. Thanks to you I'm not afraid of trying different hair styles, and knowing how to keep my hair healthy and knowing how to use products and tools.
For 20 years, I straightened my hair bc I was so unhappy with curl stying since I didn't even understand my curls...and straight hair was the "prettiest" way to go in my social circles. Since I bumped into one of your videos in 2020, I was hooked on curls. You helped me embrace my curls. Yes, I get the itch to go back to straight every now and then, but I just watch or rewatch one of your videos and the itch goes away. The damage from 20 years of straightening is still somewhat evident on me, but each one of your techniques helps me out a lot. You are the best and this video helped me to understand why the ribbon and hovering technique was not working on me ❤
I first started watching your videos 4 years ago when I was desperate for a haircut during covid lockdown. So glad I found your channel. You and Amanda have taught me so much and helped me love my curls again! Congrats on 6 years! ❤-Nicki P.
Steph S Congratulations on 6 years! I’ve been embracing my waves/curls for about 4 years and your videos have been so helpful. I do wonder if I will ever truly just love my hair without being so envious of yours! I absolutely love your short bob….just got mine yesterday. Now to learn how to style shorter hair.
Jordan B checking in! Congratulations on 6 years making some of the best curly hair videos out there. I still use your universal hair cut techniques to cut my hair and my brothers! It works so well to give me volume in my look while still letting my length grow. My brother likes the technique cuz it allows me to cut the hair around the nape of his neck since you cut that separately for length. I adapted that and cut his hair from the ears up the way you do in the video! Literally saving my hair and my brothers too! Thanks for all you do for the curly hair community. I will continue to use all your tips! Keep them coming!!
I think one thing we often neglect is that even type 3 and 2 hair can have kinks, although not as tight and dense as type 4. This gives a lot of "frizz" just because the curls go in different directions, but it's not sign of a damaged cuticle or anything like that. My hair is quite coarse and kinky, although it has a 3a-b pattern. When I want a round voluminous effect, I diffuse product free (maybe with leave-in) so my hair becomes a total frizzball, and then apply a mousse or foam that is slippery and quite wet, but just patting it and lightly scrunching, without distributing on the lengths. Then I quickly diffuse to also dry the foam, and this removes the frizz from the ends, clumps and defines the outer layer of curls, while the rest remains fluffy and voluminous. A sort of "wash now/style later" method but actually I can do it all at once or style the next day. My hair is quite short now, the entire routine takes me 10 minutes from start to finish.
I just joined the curly bob life and it’s been such a game changer…you are my forever hair inspo, Mel! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, you’re the best! Congratulations on 6 years❤- Dani P
You made the world of difference for my curls! I started using a blow dryer, buying WAY too many products, and really getting to know my hair. And your bloopers are always AWESOME! Thanks for 6 years of laughs, scientifify-Melly and learning! Melanie M.
Lorena C here, I have been watching you since 2019 and it’s the only reason I can do my hair now at 31 years old. No one in my family had curly hair so I never learned until I was 27 which is WILD. Thanks for educating me.
Happy anniversary! I’ve followed many curly influencers since 2015 that I started my journey , but I have to say you are the only one I’ve stuck with since I found you! You are so funny and honest and have transformed the way I take care of my hair. Congratulations! - Zoe B
I am so grateful for your videos -- I grew up being a redhead with curly hair omg in a beach area - everyone had straight blonde hair - tanned bodies -- in the wrong era -- I bleached my hair and straightened it to fit end -- it took many decades to embrace my natural person -- hell people pay a lot of money for both of my natural blessings - we just did not have the info on taking care of our hair -- so thank you for being you and the beauties we are PS I oil my hair and I use a steamer on it -- it works for me
Mel can't tell you how much your videos have helped me! Just found you this year and with 51 years as a curly girl your videos have helped me learn how to care for and style my curls. Love everything about your videos. My hair is more like Amanda's so thank you thank you thank you for sharing the differences between your curls and hers!
Julie W. Congratulations on your six-year milestone! *Thank*you* for teaching me that it's okay to break the rules and experiment to find what works best for my hair. 💜
Happy anniversary! So exciting, 6 years, been following you since the beginning and still love the videos you post! Have learned so much! Thank you for being you! Michelle J
My curls are 3B. I've been using a flat iron for years and came across one of your videos, and I now want to embrace my natural curls, but I'm nervous that it won't turn out like yours, due to years of straightening. I watched another of your videos prior to this one and purchased the products that you used. They come tomorrow. The Denman brush came yesterday. I hope it turns out well for me...fingers crossed. Thank you for all the information and guidance that you give in your videos 💜
I tried a new technique bc of this video. I had more length today. That's awesome. I didn’t know about blow drying being better than air drying. I haven't seen those videos. I have a ton of thin strands very curly almost coiling dry hair. You are the reason that I have such beautiful curls.
Thank you so much for helping get back to my curls! For years I would straighten my hair! I had long hair and just recently cut it short and decided to embrace my curls!! And it’s all due to you! I saw an instagram post and absolutely fell in love with curls again. Your videos and posts have helped me with my routine. I still am learning and trying to get it right but I’m loving the journey! I even got my sister-in-law into the curl love😂. She is starting her curl journey and hopefully will love them as much as I do! Thank you, thank you, thank you Mel for helping me with my curl journey and reminding me every day to love my curls!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Congrats on 6 years!!!! 🎉 You guys have played such a big role in my hair journey and learning to love my hair. It’s still a work in progress but I am so much more confident in my curls and having big hair! Thank you so much! Taryn V.
Hey Mel! Congrats on 6 years of super curly hair care! I share your videos with anyone who touches my hair cuz I've got naturally curly, coarse and fine, waves, thick hair. Spreading the word. You've been a God send! Thanks for all you share and give!--- Mary R 🎉
Angie C - congrats on your 6th year anniversary. You are the first person I started watching on embracing curly hair. I have learned so much from you on how to style my hair, my sisters think I’m crazy on the prep, style and finish technique. I tell them it works and I don’t have to do redo my hair so much. You and Amanda are wonderful. Always look forward to your weekly videos. Thank you 🎉
Thank you!! I really do need to style soaking wet, no brush, strong gel & oil. Plus, the prepoo!! I learn something new every time I watch your vids, Mel 😊
Congrats on 6 years! When people comment on how good my hair looks I say this is what I learned during the COVID lock down. I literally needed a pandemic to learn how to take care of my hair! Now, thanks to you, my hair looks great and I don't trust it to anyone else. Not even for hair cuts! I just pull up one of your videos and snip away. You're the best! and Amanda too!! I loved her transition especially since I have course hair too. Not sure what to comment for the give away but we'll go with Raquel G. :)
Thank you for explaining who wet and damp styling works best for! My hair does get weighed down easily, but it IS coarser and has a similar curl pattern to your seester’s hair, so I do style on wet hair and squeeze out excess product and water with a microfiber towel once the product is applied. Then, I diffuse my hair. My curls always shrink up beautifully and are so shiny!
"All curl textures are welcome here." And Mell, your tips saved this type 2 girlie's LIFE. I never knew my hair was the way it was until I started watching your videos. I love my hair so much, I love what I can do with it, and I love that I know how. Thank you! Also, I loooove spraying my hair with the Aveda volume spray. It makes my hair BIG.
Can't wait to try your curly hair styling tips. I feel like i have struggling for years to get the most out of my beautiful curls. Thank you for your videos!!
I have been religiously watching you since I was in highschool and now I'm close to finishing uni! I was raised in a househole were even my closest relative would be judging my curly hair as Asians tend to have sleek straight hair, but overtime, by following your advice, even my mom started complimenting my hair! So thank you so much Mel and Amanda for everything that you have been doing, please keep it up! You two are my favourite curly youtubers :) ❤ - Raisha I.
You’ve helped me love my hair more in its natural state than all the years I was straightening it. I’ve also learnt so much about taking care of my hair. Thank you Mell ❤ I love that you give tips for all types and textures so there’s always a tip that works.
This video explains everything!! I've been doing your damp styling routine but i have thick hair, and i get some control but can never fully control my frizz!!
Hi Mell, I’ve tried so many different products by following your channel because I have very porous hair, very fine and not too much of it. It’s gets very frizzy, very easily. I was using Not your mothers hair gel and had even tried some other brands and it wouldn’t give me the hold. So I just blamed it on my hair. Then on here you mentioned why Curlsmith souffle would work better for someone with very porous hair. And OMG! The hold is such a huge difference! I will only use this from now on for my gel choice. I also live in a very humid area (Chicago) and we’ve even had some crazy warm days and high humidity due to lots of rain. And it has been a game changer. Thank you for your advice. I love your channel!! A big fan!
Mell- I learned a lot! First because of you I started in 2024 diffusing my hair right after I apply my products. I am a lot older than you and I have been air drying my hair forever & if going out would diffuse for only 6-7 minutes at the end. I love the volume I get from diffusing from the start. I learned today that scrunching with the diffuser shortens my already shorter hair. That makes sense! LOL So I think I will try to just hover. I also learned about the oil. I need only a tiny bit. Secret-my entire life I was picking out the cast and literally hair would be everywhere. Now that I’m older and my hair is much thinner and extremely fragile, I just shake it out and lightly scrunch. In my 20’s and 30’s I would have had such magnificent curls but I picked it out. Why? I didn’t know any better. Curly hair is a journey & each person has to try tips & tricks until they find what works. It’s insane how great both sides of your head look. My hair is not like yours. It’s very fine. I am afraid to cut it too short but would love to know if you cut your hair in a way that gives it such a beautiful shape. Do you need thick hair like yours to pull off the shape of your gorgeous haircut? Ty Mell. I have your towel too! You have been a godsend to me on my curl journey. I’m single again after 31 years 😮 So I am trying to update my look & find my confidence again 😊
I have tried brushing, raking, shingling on wet, damp, and microfiber dried hair - great definition, low volume. What works best for my hair is to shake my head after applying my stylers to semi wet hair and then diffusing. I never get volume with air drying!! You taught me to air dry and you were right!!😊
Congratulations on the 6 years!!! I myself have only been watching you for a few months now. I just want to say thank you for being you! lol seriously though you have inspired me to go to cosmetology school to do hair. I naturally have wavy hair but I wanted more curly so I got a perm(2 now) and I love it so much. Thanks to you and your videos, also lots of practice. I have learned how to care for and style my newly curled hair.
Congrats on 6 years! I have been watching for a few years now and have learned so much. I love that you guys are so personable and relatable! and the bloopers are the best part! lol. Thanks for all your time and teachings! Kelsey H.
Zoé C. I have been watching your channel for years now and I want to thank you for the help you’ve been. I found your channel at a time were I was very confused and frustrated with my hair, and you made it easy and fun. Thank you for the content you make because I’m always learning something even years later :)
I appreciate this video so much!!! I had gotten away from watching you not because your styling techniques didn't work, but because the products you recommend really don't do much for my hair. I live on the Gulf Coast in an incredibly hot and humid climate (our city was quite literally named the most humid city in the US last year 🥵), and I think the thing that this video touches on that many of the others don't, especially the older videos, is context. There is another influencer on TH-cam that I watch a lot of who is really specific about what products she recommends for certain climates and density/hair texture.. and having that context makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the world whenever you're trying to learn. One thing you specifically mentioned in this video that was also terribly counterproductive for me was using the oil after styling. Y'all just raved about it, so when it made my hair fall apart and start frizzing 100% of the times I tried it, it made me feel like I must be doing something wrong. I absolutely cannot use oils in my hair. Unfortunately, I just had to learn that the products you recommend are to be taken with a grain of salt UNLESS a more thorough explanation is given about different ingredients and who'll they'll work best for. Thank you for striving to be the best communicator that you can be, for us!
Hi Mell, I love watching your channel because I’m learning a lot. I’m embracing my curls since I got tight curls after my chemo. It’s still in the short side but I’d love to get to your length. ❤️
Been watching you on and off for the past couple of years, have been SUPER grateful for your tips. My biggest issue is that I can damp or wet style, get some definition when it’s done under the dryer… But then 30 mins to an hour later (scrunch or no scrunch) my hair is flat 😢 might be my hard water, might be not the right product combos (though I feel I’ve tried everything), might be my still-not-correct-haircut, or even some combination thereof. I’m just ready to not cry when I’m done styling my hair. 💜Temperance D
I'm so glad to have found your channel early into discovering at 30 that I have waves/curls and not frizzy, mostly straight hair that I can't heat style to save my life. Thanks for all of the content and hair positivity; it's making this process way less daunting than it would have been ❤ ~Ashley S
Thank you for addressing fine hair styling on damp vs. wet hair. I've been noticing that soaking wet styling doesn't seem to agree with my fine hair and my loose waves just get so tired looking. Plus I lose my product cast to the solution in the water on my hair and then microplopping. My refresh days always look much better than my wash days, no matter what. I need to microplop before applying my stylers, I think.
Michelle R. Thank you for all the tips! It's been a lifelong struggle figuring out my curls. The days before TH-cam were dark times with a lot of flat ironing because I didn't know how to take the mane.
Congratulations on 6 years.🎉 Your tips finally helped me not hate my curly hair. I bought a hair brush and a hair diffuser. I figured out how to layer products, too :) Now to figure out which hair cut is the best- Danika F.
Shalyn P. here. Congrats for 6 years on TH-cam and thank You and Amanda! Your content has been so helpful, especially when you show the comparisons, because I'm seeing what I'm doing vs what I want. It's been more relevant for me after you've had your natural hair color since I've never colored mine. So the product recs are even easier to choose from - there's only been a few differences from living in a dry climate.
This was definitely the most helpful video you've ever done. Thank you! I could never understand why using a finishing oil didn't work for me. I really appreciate you and the time you spend on your videos! Nicole S.
Well, even though not every piece of advice was suited to me, I still appreciated your videos and learned so much. As someone blessed/cursed with tons of volume, if not curl (coarse, gray and wavy), I found the information super helpful and was able to use it to experiment and practice. And I am loving the process of learning how to style my hair and even my kid's, which happened to turn curly during adolescence. Thank you making your videos so enjoyable too!
Been following you Mel and Amanda since prior to Covid, you saved my curly hair which I never embraced until watching your videos. You gave me the confidence to love my curls! Love you bunches, ❤ Bethann K.
Jenny B here! Your vids have given my curls a new lease on life! (I even cut my own hair now!). I will forever love your Verb foaming gel. It’s changed my life!
LeahB. Congrats on 6 years! 🎉 It's all thanks to you that I've embraced my curly hair and I wouldn't have it any other way! Thanks for all the advice and laughter you share!
Thank you Mel I started watching your videos in 2022 when I started my journey to natural hair. I used japanese straightening And stopped 3 years ago. Now dealing with hair damage Your videos are so helpful Thank you so much ❤ For my heat damage are finger curling bigger chunks if hair works better because smaller don’t curl properly Looks more like a fried ramen 😂 Want you to know i love your vern baby and it’s probably the best product i tried so far in my curly journey ❤ On this video both sides are great but i love more your non gel side. ❤️
I just want to say THANK YOU, thanks to you my hair looks better and better. I wore my hair straight for so long because I just didn’t know what to do with my curls. I finally decided to embrace my curls a few years back and I just hate that it took me so long to find your channel. I have been watching you for about a year and have caught up on every single video. Again THANK YOU! ❤❤❤❤ if only my bangs would cooperate then I’d be set! ❤Rozy F
Perel Z. In the almost 4 years I've been following you, I've learned so much and my hair has gotten so much better!! Thank you for making these videos and sharing your knowledge with us! ❤️
I’m fairly new here but definitely here to stay! I have learned so much from you, especially about brush styling. And your wacky humor is just a bonus! I can’t wait to try your volume tips on my next wash day! Kim M.
Claire S here! Congrats on making videos for six whole years, and teaching me how to style my wavy hair (which I used to think was just very frizzy, straight hair haha)!
Rebecca G. Congratulations! I love how outgoing you are in your videos. You provide great information while also being entertaining. I look forward to watching your videos.
Ever since I found you a few months ago and after watching and learning from you, my hair has been looking BADASS! 58 years old and I’m finally learning how to work with this hair! I’m even teaching my stylist about how to style curls because she’s got a few curly girl clients, isn’t a curly girl herself, and admittedly has no idea how to style curls. Or even cut them, really. (She got one Deva Curl dry cut class when Deva Curl launched. That’s it.) Which leads me to a possible video idea for you: How does one get a stylist to cut a curly girl’s hair in that style you rock in all your videos, no matter what kind of cut you have? Where the hair is “wider” on the sides? (It’s narrow on the top, poofs out more on the sides, and then gets more narrow at the bottom.) As a stylist yourself, are you open to demonstrating your curly cut method in a video so we can have our stylists learn to do the same cut? Mind you, I’d jump my ass on a plane in a heartbeat if I could get an appointment with you! But I know you’re not taking new clients, and a flight from Florida would be a lot of cheese. (You’d be 100% worth it and there’s nothing I’d love more.) The video suggestion I’m giving is NOT to show how to cut the adorable bob you are currently rocking. The video I’m suggesting would show how to cut curly hair…should it be a dry cut or should it be a wet cut? Do you just go in there and hack away with no rhyme or reason as the Deva Curl method teaches, or should a stylist truly go in there with a lot more “order” than the Deva Curl method? (Where the stylist just hacks off random dry pieces of hair in such a willy-nilly fashion.) The video could give an idea how many layers are necessary to highlight our curls and not have a cut where the curls are flat and weighed down. If you’re not up for the idea, absolutely zero worries. It’s just a question that I thought I’d pose because my excellent stylist needs your help! Before I sign off, you are so flippin’ adorable! I just love you! 😁 - Tamara L.
We stick around cause we just LOVE you SO MUCH!!!! I have been watching you for 5 years and just love all your content. Thank you for everything Mel! Sandra F.
Deanna R. from Houston! You have completely changed my curls and confidence after the CGM ruined my scalp. Other than your knowledge, you and your seester's videos have become a beautiful, loving, and welcoming escape throughout 2020 into my chaotic everyday mom life now. Always keeping me laughing and learning. Thank you!
Whitney M. here! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I've learned a lot from you. I grew up getting made fun of a lot for my frizzy wreck because no one knew how to handle my hair when I was a kid. I felt ugly for a long time. When I got old enough to do my hair myself, I began a very long journey of learning and trying things, and I'm happy to say now that I LOVE my hair.
Lisa G. Thank you for giving us the best curly hair advice and the confidence to wear our curls! Wouldn't have known anything I do now about curly hair without your channel. ❤
Jocelyn K. here!!! I recently have been experiencing extremely dry curls that were knotting easily. After watching a couple of your previous videos (again) I decided to add the Aveda leave-in spray and finally got the Verb foam gel and omg!!! My hair is so much better this wash week!!! My curl pattern and texture is very similar to that of another TH-camr, India Batson, but the products that work for her just didn’t do it for me. I have tried almost everything you have suggested and am debating on the bounce curl brush even though you mentioned it might not be right for my hair type and that they are working on one for different textures like mine in the future. Congratulations on 6 years. I believe I’ve been here for at least four of them!!!!
TanyaD …. I really love this channel. Since my hair has came back from Chemo I’ve had no idea how to style curly/wavy hair and this channel has really helped a lot. Thank you Mell!!!!
I love using the verb curl foaming gel after applying gel and microplopping for that extra hold! My routine is super similar to your side side which works super well on long and coarse wavy hair
Hi Mel!! Thanks for all you do for the curly girls! Started watching your videos this year and they have been so helpful to embrace my curls! I was wondering if you could do an updated “curl refresh” video sometime soon! With the summer months coming up, would love to be able to learn a refresh method that works for my curls, thanks to you and your sissy! You guys are the best
OK but realizing you were filming this video for over FOUR HOURS?! The dedication is real!! We’re so lucky to have you Mell!
Agreed !
BEST VIDEO EVER!!!!!!! I tried the method you did for thin hair, DAMP, SMALLER SECTIONA HOVER.... WORKED PEFECT!!!!
The oil scrunch doesn't work for me at all. Like, at, all. My hair is superfine and thin so the oil just weighs it down, and it looks stringy.
@@WobblesandBeanin your case, I would just scrunch with no oils. That’ll help break up that cast a bit
Please include wavy hair with your curly specialty. I'm having the hardest time finding someone who can help my thin, fine, 2b waves thrive.
Nicki H
Next Generation MOMS, now you have the knowledge to teach your son's and daughter's how to take care and love their curls.
Happy birthday🎉🎉❤
6 years later and still coming up with fire content 🔥-Gabriella R.
Also, I have to say, I have only learnt to embrace my curly hair because of you and this channel. Very grateful for your content!
I sorry, I'm going to miss you live but I am work and can only watch during my breaks. Much love to you Mel and Amanda ❤❤
Much love to you!! You can always catch the replays
This was AMAZING! Many thanks for showing the impact of relatively small changes in the routine. I’ll be trying some of your tips to get more volume.
Much love to you beautiful!! Thank you so much for all your continued support, we appreciate you so much!! xoxo
Thank you for your service. I’ve learned a lot but still have so much to learn. Congratulations on 6 years!
❤Sarah N
Thank you for being so curl inclusive ❤ I just combed out my locs and I’m struggling but your expertise makes this transition so much better. Patrice B.
Best video! I have wavy/curly hair, coarser texture and most of your techniques never worked for me. Now I know why. Thank you
Stephanie P.
Seriously Mel you have helped me so much to learn about and embrace my curly hair. You are the best!!! Happy 6 years!!!
*Congrats on six years!*
I think poofy without frizz is the perfect style for very curly hair. So your right (camera left) side looked best to me!
I’ve learned so much about what does/doesn’t work for me, and it just makes me more confident in myself and my natural hair. Thank you for all of it!
Happy anniversary! I’ve followed many curly influencers since 2015 that I started my journey , but I have to say you are the only one I’ve stuck with since I found you! You are so funny and honest and have transformed the way I take care of my hair. Congratulations! - Zoe B
I am so grateful for your videos -- I grew up being a redhead with curly hair omg in a beach area - everyone had straight blonde hair - tanned bodies -- in the wrong era -- I bleached my hair and straightened it to fit end -- it took many decades to embrace my natural person -- hell people pay a lot of money for both of my natural blessings - we just did not have the info on taking care of our hair -- so thank you for being you and the beauties we are PS I oil my hair and I use a steamer on it -- it works for me
We stick around because we love you Mel! And you’re right we only follow the Mel curly hair method ❤❤❤ Emma G watching from Phoenix AZ!
Michelle J
You changed my curly life! I’ve been watching you for years and you’re still teaching me new things x love ya x Marilyn S
I think i've been watching for 6 years. Brush styling changed everything for me! Dawn K.
Jocelyn U.T. !!! You’re the ONLY person I’d trust taking advice from for my curly hair
Haleigh F. Thanks so much for all you two do 😊 I’ve been watching you for 2.5 years during my healthy hair journey. I’ve learned sooooo much!
Jennifer C. I have been watching you for my whole curly journey, almost two years! I have learned so much from you!❤️❤️
Thank you for explaining who wet and damp styling works best for!
Congratulations girl this is literally one of the best TH-cam ideas you’ve ever had. Honestly, this is amazing I really needed those.
Thanks!
I figured out how to layer products, too :)
Now to figure out which hair cut is the best- Danika F.
Shalyn P.
Thank you Mel
I started watching your videos in 2022 when I started my journey to natural hair. I used japanese straightening
And stopped 3 years ago. Now dealing with hair damage
Your videos are so helpful
Thank you so much ❤
For my heat damage are finger curling bigger chunks if hair works better because smaller don’t curl properly
Looks more like a fried ramen 😂
Want you to know i love your vern baby and it’s probably the best product i tried so far in my curly journey ❤
On this video both sides are great but i love more your non gel side.
❤Rozy F
Stephanie A. It's amazing how it’s been 6 years, thank you for teaching me to embrace my curls you made my journey reachable!
I loved it. You did resolve my problem. I was styling with the wet soaking hair method. Now I understand why it was not working for me. Thanks ❤
I'm new to curly hair. Just got a perm at the end of last month, so it's very new.
But your videos have helped me sooooooo much
Thank you.
You are amazing! This is easy to understand, clear, and way more education than I’ve ever had with caring for my curls!!! 😘
