    Are weep holes in a new aftermarket intercooler beneficial/necessary?

  • @gunzblazing16

    I watched your other video that shows the installation of a CPE intercooler and the entire BOV assembly is not used but on this Vortech install it is. Any reason/benefit one way or the other?

    Does it come with an oil drain?

  • @davidrosenhan8374

    Does this intercooler have drain? My main problem is that my 2011 F150 Ecoboost factory intercooler seems to trap condensation at the bottom, which in turn can eventually be a lot of water. When I hit 2500 RPM's I start misfiring and lose power. I had to eventually drill a small hole in the bottom of the factory intercooler to release all the water in it...

    • @lynneftw
      @lynneftw 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard the drilled hole is an easy solution to this. I'm curious as to whether or not the intercooler upgrade is necessary if you only tow every so often in hot temps?

    • @Chuckers84
      @Chuckers84 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is two of them located on each turbo.

  • @Gtrjerry73
    @Gtrjerry73 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    is this really necessary? a lot of people are getting Condensation In their factory intercooler which would lead me to believe that the unit is already maybe a little too efficient on a factory tune. so wouldn't the factory intercooler be enough for a little more power? Unless your going crazy and upgrading turbos and all?

    • @cruzancoconut
      @cruzancoconut 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jeremiah white If you have something like a livewire, you can see the intake air temperature start to rise quickly on a tuned vehicle with stock intercooler. I run my truck on the german autobahn often and I back off the throttle when the temperatures rise.

    • @blackericdenice
      @blackericdenice 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      jeremiah white He full of crap and you are 100% correct. As a matter of fact. The stock small turbos will need an upgrade before the intercooler.

    I thought the intercooler (stock) was already too big for the engine causing that condensation issue.

    • @daveking4246
      @daveking4246 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure I've read and watch he'd the same thing....Ford was adding block off plates to block air flow because it was cooling to well and causing the condensation thus causing people to drill weep holes....that's what I gathered anyway trying to research for my kids truck that keeps having issues

    • @markbulva4188
      @markbulva4188 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@daveking4246 I think it’s the placement that causes the condensation. The intercooler being the lowest point in the system.

  • @paulgrimm7842
    @paulgrimm7842 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did they correct the condensation problem for 2016?

    • @davey3765
      @davey3765 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I heard it was getting too cold so they ended up blocking off part of the intercooler with a piece of plastic to warm it up a little more keep the water for condensing.

      only error iv seen with a inter-cooler upgrade is combustion temp variance. it got lower and it made my mini pop a dummy light. but my 2013 ecoboot fx2 doesn't care at least not so far. but a catch can is a good upgrade due to blow by in this motor or really any boosted motor. but these really benefit from one.

      Heres a black Mishimoto intercooler that fits your 2016, it has a drain plug on the bottom as well.
