That is footage from the California Jam in 1974, where Deep Purple DID NOT PERFORM Stormbringer, since they hadn't released the song yet. The audio is probably from the Made in Europe album, but the video is probably when they performed the song Burn at California Jam.
Thanks to Gillan's Ego they never performed the MKIII era or the Joe Lynn Turner era too (1990-1) And Blackmore was the Bad guy 😅 Of course he's not a Saint but he without Gillan was a little bit happy even on a interview ( he on the 1990 era ) Joe Lynn Turner told him :" Ritchie come on ,say hi and he give a interview with Lynn Turner a very relax interview later when Turner was fired the battle rages on literally not just the album tittle.
@@TOMDUTRA-hm9pq You know him personally to make that statement? Or are you just going off what you've heard/read? I suspect the latter is true. People are quick to judge without knowing the facts.🤷♂
That was the California Jam. 300 000 people in the audience. There was also, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Black Sabbath, Earth, Wind, and Fire. What a show!!!!
This is 1974 , California Jam ! Their last song they did at this show was Space Truckin , when Ritchie Blackmore smashed a TV camera , then started blowing up his amps ! He wasn't in a good mood because the camera guy wouldn't stay out of his face , so he smashed the camera with his guitar !
The bass player here is Glenn Hughes(the bloke in the white suit)...his voice is magic. He fronts a band called Black Country communion with Joe Bonamassa on guitar and Jason Bonham on drums....his register is absurdly high.
This is Deep Purple with David Coverdale who later formed the great band Whitesnake. He replaced Ian Gillan in 1973 and they recorded three albums with him and bassist Glenn Hughes. The best of them is Burn.
The Cal Jam that year apparently sold about 250,000 tickets, this for a one day festival. Estimates vary between about another 50,000 to 150,000 gate-crashed, so the audience could have approached 400,000.
They were incredible, many a folk went off and space-trucked for years, and few parties back when didn't shake things up without a few of their tunes at 3am, love them all, nice review :)
Jon Lord used to put sand bags in the base of the organ so he could slam it around like that without it falling over. In some videos, he leans it WAY over.
This is before certain people hijacked the rainbow. Check out Steppenwolf (Wolf Hunters) Magic Carpet Ride. Bands of my 20’s and 30’s sadly I’m now old but still love these guys.

@@norkannen Yeah...needed 2 to make work of 1. To my taste (or ears), it seems strange that a band that has always been essentially instrumental has followed a path of harmonizing voices at this stage (mark III). They're good singers, it's not the point, and Glen Hughes better than the still inexperienced David Coverdale... but for me Mark III definitely doesn't fit🤔
California Jam. Simulcast on fm radio and broadcast on tv. This song came out later as I don't recall this at all, and I did record it on my cassette recorder. Good editing to make it look real. At 14 years old, this whole concert was a treat! Would have been a cool thing to be there, but I was in Utah at the time. 😉
its is edit video clip i believe, they r actually playing other song lol...this live video is actually from California Jam ( i've watch the whole live video this song not in list lol)✌
Travis & Suzi Both of you already have reacted to David Coverdale and his own band, Whitesnake (long-haired man without a bass or guitar). After Deep Purple disbanded by Ritchie Blackmore with this final lineup, David created Whitesnake. Bassist/ singer is Glenn Hughes, who has played in a lot of bands such as Black Sabbath
Stormbringer is a magic sword featured in a number of fantasy stories by the author Michael Moorcock. It is described as a huge, black sword covered with strange runes, created by the forces of Chaos. Blackmore would'nt go out till dusk because he blew up his equiptment and wanted it to happen at dark. Then they had to rush off because they were gonna arrest him. It's only rock and roll. Peace.
Deep Purple was terrific; particularly live, which is the mark of a good band. I mean, there are some bands that put out excellent studio albums but aren't as good live. That definitely does not pertain to Deep Purple.
This vid is a bit of a con. The visuals are from the California Jam but Stormbringer wasn't performed at that gig. Whoever made this just overlaid the song onto the 1974 film.

Interesting that this concert was literally in the dead center of the "disco" era [1970 - 1980].
