      Well yeah. He’s also not a million other drummers. Tommy has a very unique style and his foot work is so solid Ian is a fantastic drummer, love his stuff but a different style the Tommy., Ian’s has a more solid jazz foundation like most great drummers and that’s what I personally prefer Tommy will knock you across the floor with his sound and that’s cool too. Two different styles

    • @ronnienose8608
      @ronnienose8608 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He's a heavy hitter but has little fineness, no light and shade. He's a metal drummer really, and nothing wrong with that, but tdis is nit a patch on the inventiveness of the original. Paice had, speed, taste, technique could rock out, do jazz, funk, has been called the Billy Cobbham of hard rock.

    • @billc.5861

      Now you’re talking. Bill Cohan is so damn good , I’ve been trying to play Stratus correctly for a little wile. He’s just so smooth and his fills are ridiculously good., yes Ian is definitely like Mr Cohan. Tommy is also no Stewart Copeland or Jeff Campatelli or Steve Gadd or ect ect ect. All I was saying is Tommy’s a thunderous drummer with great double pedal footwork and perfect for that style of song. To compare him to Ian is silly.

      Aldrich did a brilliant job on the solo here but for sure Beach was just as capable. Coverdale's always had this thing about 2 guitarists in the band, just in case he has problems with one (like he did with John Sykes, in '87). That way he's capable of continuing the tour (or recording duties) until a replacement can be found.

    Adrian Vanderberg is the solo guitarist in this line up. Amazing musician (aren't they all). I love to listen to what he does accoustically on "Starkers in Tokyo" album, an almost chamber music type of thing as it is only the two of them Vanderberg and Coverdale. I was at this gig and a year later, when they came back to this same venue (Hammersmith Apollo). Both times, Coverdale's voice was shredded; sounded like two cats fighting. But the rest of the band was tight, really powerful. No question that DC went back in the studio to rerecord vocals and overdub them on the audio of this footage.

They could destroy it, with masterful instrumentation, like few others then needed to become the ballad, bubblegum Pop Divas, and well I just couldn't take it. I tend to agree. Way too many ballads - even if Coverdale was good at writing them. They kinda prevented the 87 and Slip of the Tongue from being total masterpieces. When late 80s WS (whatever the constellation) really rocked out there has rarely been anything better.....

      To me early Whitesnake really just continued on the bluesy rock when Deep Purple called it a day. Especially once John Lord joined followed by Ian. Then in 1982 Neil Murray and Ian left to join Gary Moore (awesome tour), David tried to go more 80's with Slide it In especially the US version.I had the UK version as an import before the US version and for a long time preferred it. Can't knock Sykes though, too bad he and David could not work things out.
