William Atherton, one of the most underrated actors, I understand that he was to be the folly for the Ghostbusters, however he was only doing what he thought was the best interest for the city, and he did a very great job as his character, and loved his interview in the documentary, 'Cleaning Up The Town, Remembering Ghostbusters', it was great, and unnerving watching him display humour, and chuckling, such a great actor.
Everything about Walter Peck was fantastic; his motivations are entirely plausible and he is authentically portrayed by William Atherton. Compare him to the characters written for the 2016 movie: they're vapid, cartoonish, one-dimensional, joke regurgitating machines. Sony's best course of action to maintain the value of the franchise should be to disassociate itself from that stupendous misfire and remove any references to it from the Ghostbusters TH-cam channel.
Probably the same thing. He likely would have asked them to explain in detail every aspect of their operation, not just the containment unit but the traps and packs too. The Ghostbusters didn't have licences for their nuclear equipment, so Peck would almost definitely have ordered them to shut down their operations when he learned about that. The guy clearly doesn't believe in ghosts, so there is very little they could have done to change his mind.

It was also in a residential area and not zoned for their type of business. Although Peck's the one that caused the explosion, it probably would have happened anyway. Egon even theorized that their efforts might be increasing the frequency of paranormal occurrences, instead of curing them. As for rest Zuul situation, Peter was the one who did a half-assed search of Dana's apartment. Then he told her it was safe for her to move back in. When she did, she got possessed by a demon dog. When he discovered she was possessed, he drugged her, and left her unchaperoned. I mean they rescued her at the end, but I still think she should have gotten a refund. All the customers who paid them storage fees should've gotten refunds, too.

I may have liked William Atherton's character in "Buried Alive" but I hated his guts as Walter Peck, the EPA man in "Ghostbusters." When he got covered in molten marshmallow at the end, I was like, "Take that, you bastard!"
