    I was a CNA for about two years. Got my LPN in August 2021 and have been working as charge nurse now at the same place since then. Im contemplating to work in a hospital. Most likely med surge because I feel like I would learn more than I’m learning now at my current job. I have no one to really train me when I need to do a new skill. Its been rough. If I did switch to hospital med surge would you recommend days or nights as a new grad?

    • @IAMHER_NurseTee
      @IAMHER_NurseTee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      This is a great question. So I have only worked agency in nursing homes so from my experience they are poorly ran which sucks for the residents. I feel at the hospital I have more support and things are a lot more organized, and they actually have supplies which most nursing homes lack.

      I used to do all kinds of IV push meds as an LVN in the step down ICU. There were only a few we weren’t allowed to push. We did not have team nursing at that time and we all took assignments regardless of title or acuity. Fast forward…I’m an NP now so this was 2004-2006. This was in Texas.

    Are your math calculations for your injections really complicated? Because in class we are to learn how to calculate iv’s. Supposedly it’s one of the most difficult math formulas we need to learn.

    • @IAMHER_NurseTee
      @IAMHER_NurseTee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes so school going to teach that way. When you get to the floors things are already preset saves you huge room for error but you still want to recheck to be sure it’s accurate. Some older pumps you will have to know how to do the calculations for sure… 🤞🏼🩺
