This level of engineering is absolutely incredible. It feels like the pinnacle of what is possible in Space Engineers right now until the sequel comes out.
Omg the way he used wheels as suspension for wheels was meta I mean who does that you either use a piston with a certain power or a hinge with a certain power its amazing that he came up with that idea
I've been working on a rover project with the goal of using it to circumnavigate all the planets, in survival, and the thing I've learned, that I think is now the single most frustrating thing to me with SE is that although we have all these amazing hinges and wheels, and you can build real suspension, the moment you even begin to try and make any form of conventual long travel baja style suspension, for going fast off road, it just explodes. Even this rover, the moment it lands poorly from a slight jump, or you hit a bump wrong, it's just going to disintegrate and it seems there's absolutely no getting around it, unless you essentially suspend the wheels in such a way that the suspension can't hit anything and can't bottom out. Ultimately it's really frustrating because of how close you can get, but it just never ends up being reliable. Developing a reliable rover however has been a fun challenge, and I've indeed pretty much done it, but I still gotta script and film the journey around the planets that I want to achieve with it.
Just increase the length and force pushing down on your swing arms, and make sure your friction is turned down the faster your going, also gyros help make sure it’s just your wheels smacking the ground.
Love to see other builds using turn signals. I recently put together a Peterbilt that has scripted lights for turning, braking, and reversing. It's a rather nice touch. Mad props to the creator of the Fareon, getting that suspension all set up. Building stuff like that is still a bit beyond the scope of my skill.

imagine if some of these modders/engineers that build things like this, got together and made a truly immersive, interactive server with a solid RP in mind. NPCs would be smart and unpredictable, players would have hours of quests and contract stuff to do to keep busy... Keen, please hire a full team dedicated to making the game more IMMERSIVE! No silly fireworks or suit updates...we want more 'economy' sized updates..
the open gap between the modules remember me of old steam locomotives kkk, i worked once in one for a museum and boy, it was fun to pass on them with carts of food while the train was traveling kkk
This kind of reminds me of the one wheel bike that was on the side of the vehicle that the Markus Brothers used in Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. And we see Sophie using it as well
That mono-wheel is cool. Is there a script that's used to keep it upright? I've tried motorcycles in the past, and never really had that great of luck.
Anyone else having issues with the video player? For me the outro starts at 8 minutes, but the player ends the video at 12 minutes. I’m not sure what’s going on. It’s like it’s trying to play the outro for 4 minutes
Hello there :), is this vanilla SE? Like SE right now? I played a few thousands hours (ahem) some years ago and was leaving mentally the video when you started to explain how many grids are involved in the vehicle. The construction is fantastic, don't get me wrong, I love it. I tried over and over to build multi-grid-systems with moveable parts "in my time" playing SE and gave up on the amount of sudden violent and explosive self destruction events. Did not matter how many goats i brought before Klang!, nothing could calm their wrath upon my undeserving and feeble constructions. So, again, is this vanilla SE or do I have to join a cult to get this working? Also big props to the suspension system and the hinge! Looks fantastic! Makes so much sense.
There's only 1 mod and it just adds mount-points to the wheels which is restoring functionality from an older version. Other than that it's vanilla, DLC and scripts. A while ago Keen put a lot of effort into trying to leash Klang and soothe his wrath, all of which resulted in greater sub-grid stability.

Amazing work on that suspension. I can't imagine even trying to begin repairing it if it somehow did take damage though.

This build and other complex systems like it really make me wish that projectors handled subgrids more gracefully kuz i want this in my survival save
