  • Back in October of 2022 I started working a 9-5 for the first time in my life...
    I've always kind of been holding off since graduating University as I was focused on helping my best friend grow his business.
    After spending years and dedicating my time to the business, I was in a situation where I needed more money in order to move out with my girlfriend.
    I finally landed that 9-5 job and then it made me realise...

    Being 16, having a brother recently getting a full time job and barely seeing him throughout the day has really got me thinking. When i was a kid and im sure alot of people can say the same thing, i used to want to be an adult, to want to make my own choices but as life goes on and that adult life approaching faster than i thought im starting to regret those things i said. I miss being a kid and not needing to think about having to make my own money to stay alive.. i dont want to spend 7+ hours at work and not have any free time... So for those early teenagers reading this, be grateful for what you have and use your youth to its fullest

    • @l_eel_em
      @l_eel_em  ปีที่แล้ว +36

      100%! Being in my teens was the best time of my life. Everything was so much easier. Make the most of it man, and if you’re struggling to find things you enjoy and want to do in the future, i wouldnt let that stress you too much. It may not be now, but you’ll find your passion eventually 🙌🏼

      Man I'm 25 and I'm still trying different things... I've been through about 5 different careers, and while all of them haven't really been my thing, I'm still doing my best to upskill myself. And hopefully I've found it with a fitness career. Sometimes it can feel depressing to feel stuck in a dead end job but it's the aspiration that keeps you going. Dw about it bro, adult life may seem scary but you quickly get used to it. Your brain develops too so that changes things a little bit as well.

      As a 35 year old, I don't think it's that bad. Life changes but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. I found my closest friends at work, I got new hobbies and I have the money and freedom I didn't have when I was younger.

    • @angelsface200
      @angelsface200 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I just turned 29. And honestly it isn’t super bad. I’d honestly say I prefer adulthood over my teenage years because at least I actually have money and the freedom to do what I want. The only thing I miss of course are those long summer break vacations.
      The one piece of advice I have for you - whichever career you enter in to, make sure the CULTURE is what you want. I cannot stress this enough. You can have your dream job and make a crap ton of money, but if you have a sh*tty boss/sh*tty coworkers/sh*tty leadership, then you would suffer. 😊

    A little bit of back story for all of you!
    Growing up I always thought my path was to graduate uni, make my parents happy, and get a full time office job.
    After graduating uni, I held off and worked for Panda, the online coaching business i helped grow with my best friend, where i spent my time learning how to make videos, create content, and trying to grow the business.
    I was always a little bit too comfortable with everything. Despite not making much money as the business was quite small, i really wanted to help grow the business where i could, i was comfortable playing games all day, comfortable training, and comfortable relying on other people to get things done for me.
    But i guess life eventually catches up. When my relationship started getting more serious, I obviously couldn’t live like i was living. I needed to think about moving out, making more money, and having a stable income to support my future. So i finally decided to get a full time job and sadly give Panda a break.
    At this time my videos had started slowly picking up which gave me a taste of what i could achieve by myself. And having finally experience what it was like working 9-5, I realised I had an option. Go through the motions of a boring life, or get of out my comfort zone, and really put my all into trying to pursue something as I’ve finally found something i wanted to do for the first time in my life.
    Fast forward to today, ive been uploading every single day, havent had any time to play games or do much else really (but it’s fine, ill get back free time eventually!!), and im finally looking at stopping this 9-5 at the end of March to try and pursue content creation as my full time job.
    And at the end of the day, it’s all thanks to all of you for watching my videos and supporting my content ❤❤

    Man I’m 24 fixing to be 25 and I finally have gotten my own place and etc like a month ago (I know it took a minute but different strokes man ) however a lot of things have changed . It’s crazy cause the adulting thing has been a blessing and a curse . It’s a blessing to have that level of freedom you always wanted but now it’s a burden on bills , rent and other things and as much as I have a few of those things in line I’m still learning (literally scared every month that I may not have the rent or lose my job on super dumb shit ) . One thing I’ve figured out is responsibility comes from you wanting to be responsible for yourself or any other being . No one likes to work but it’s what drives us forward in our lives . Like I’m barely home during the week because of work and other activities and even when I’m home I want to go out because it gets terribly lonely but it’s so fulfilling at the same time being a functional member of society and being able to rely solely on myself is one of my biggest accomplishments as a man , I hope you get to experience that too so good luck

Washing, meals, etc. As amazing as it is, it's also tiring and annoying not being "responsible" for yourself when you're grown. So I left the house at 22 and haven't looked back. Yea the days are shorter when I got washing, cleaning, food, work etc to do. But at least I'm doing the things in my life. Not someone else.

I eventually worked up to buying a car and moving out but i had to help pay rent as well. So it took a while to save up enough money to move out/buy a car when I had to help with bills. I had to learn how to adult really fast but I don't resent my parents at all for it. It's just really weird to see people who get more support instead of having to help support the family.

The past few years I've been able to become a manager at a new job. I work 3 hours a week from home and make 80k per year. Pays enough for me to live comfortably and be home qith my kids. Find a job where you can work the system. Because every company you work for is going to try and take advantage of you. Good luck brother.

    We spend so much of our lives working, if you can make a living doing something you love then you have beat the system. I have nothing against anyone who works a 9-5, but I truly believe deep down that virtually no one would pick to do that if they had the choice.
