    Hi, my name is Merrill Kazanjian. New York City is an amazing place to go metal detecting. We have lots of parks, colonial history and great beaches for beach detecting. I have gone to all five boroughs of New York City To Metal Detect and beyond. I also currently own 19 metal detectors. I want to have the best and I want to help you choose the best as well. Instead of Low & Slow, I would recommend that you have to correlate your reactivity (recovery speed) with your swing speed. In other words, A low reactivity - use a slower sweep speed. If you use a fast sweep speed , you may not hear the target. Likewise, if you use a higher recovery speed, you use a faster swing speed. If you use a lower sweep speed , you may not hear the target. So correlate your swing speed with your reactivity

    If you don't have a permit, you can still have the mudlarking experience of finding, photographing, and identifying artifacts found on the surface of the foreshore with the Thames Explorer Trust or the Thames Discovery Programme. An expert guide will help you search for traces of history and take photographs of your finds. If you would like to visit the foreshore with an organized group, please check the Thames Explorer Trust or the Thames Discovery Programme for their lists of guided tours.

    Question. when I metal detect in the wet sand, I receive tones as if there is something there all the time (with my simplex) Is that because of the wet sand? I want to Detect near the water, but the tones keep me busy and frustrate me. Is there a setting? I have the Detector set to beach mode. What's causing this? 🤔 Please help.
    Thank you

    • @MetalDetectingNYC
      @MetalDetectingNYC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No that’s because of the simplex. Despite what people claim (and it having a beach mode) it is NOT a salt sand detector.

    • @MikeyG-MD-LI
      @MikeyG-MD-LI ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @MetalDetectingNYC So if I really want to metal detect at the shoreline I will have to get a better metal detector?

    • @oz-corner8281
      @oz-corner8281 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not familiar with the Simplex specifically - however most VLF detectors with ‘beach mode’ can be used on the wet sand if you drop the sensitivity down to a point where the background signals from the salt-saturated sand are suppressed to a point that allows you to identify real targets. Conditions will differ widely so bury some test items in the wet on your favourite beach. Good luck! Kiwi.Pete

    I have a question:
    Yesterday I was on the beach with my Legend (First time ever so it was a massive learning experience).
    When the coil got hit by a wave it gives me the ID 10... everytime.
    What could that be?

    • @MetalDetectingNYC
      @MetalDetectingNYC  ปีที่แล้ว

      When coils are jolted they often false. Try (gently) hitting your coil on the ground. It also could be the movement of heavy metals at the beach being read by the coil.

    • @Andre-bs5nl
      @Andre-bs5nl ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MetalDetectingNYC Thanks you sir! I discovered its the Stability setting which when put to 5 it's silent. I'm still on my learning curve of 3 times detecting... :D Thank you for your insight and your support!

      And yes to the jolted point, point taken :) Thanks

    • @Andre-bs5nl
      @Andre-bs5nl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MetalDetectingNYC It might indeed be the heavy metal thing you mentioned. I get loads of falsing near the water, even sit St at 5 etc

    • @Andre-bs5nl
      @Andre-bs5nl ปีที่แล้ว

      I've took my legend with me snorkeling today like half a meter max in salt water.
      I found it super frustrating as it picks up mostly false signals because of the Saltwater... so I had to bring the sensitivity down to 13 and had to shift between the channels a lot.
      Combine that with the water current and you're left with a very bad experience. This beach hates me

    The first ever hint of contactless was a bus card issued in Seoul back in 1995, but it didn’t really hit the big time until the first contactless Barclaycard appeared 12 years later in 2007. Roll forward to 2023 and most people pay with card, phones and watches so the need to carry coins is hugely decreasing. There is still a arcades that take coins along certain beech towns which puts coins in kids pocket and odd fish and chip shops that only take cash but it’s amazing how contactless payments have taken over so quickly, with all the huge advancements in metal detecting in the ten years or so and also the now so many more people owning them I wonder how long before it becomes harder to find coins on beaches 🫣🫣
    Ps. Such polite kids, I was on the beach in Uk and four kids came up to me and demanded, give use a go mate, I politely declined and said you will find it boring as you mostly find junk as would not have got it back for hours or at all type of kids 😬😬😬
