After less than 12 hours of the free rental I grabbed for it yesterday, I promptly went and bought one at A18. Didn't expect to so quickly fall in love with it, but here we are! Thanks a ton for posting the overviews, Olli! I'm going to be out of town intermittently throughout IAE so getting to at least see if I'm missing anything is great.
I had the Merchantman Trade ship. I cry very time I remember it. I have the Ralen and the new Gatac Ship and I love it. I can't wait for the RSI, Origin and Drake days. It's gonna be great.
4:20 The Glaive has really been reworked for SQ42, but it seems we're not getting that version until after SQ42 drops, similar to how CR is saving the Idris etc for SQ42. And yeah it looks a bit like the blade, SC has put out videos showing the new style, wiki should have pictures of it.
The Blade, Scythe, & Glaive have all been updated in SQ42. There’s a 2019 or 2020 SQ42 teaser trailer that shows them. Plus they did a pretty good ATV, predecessor to ISC. On the updated Vanduul fleet. Sadly they won’t get updated until sq42 release, like the Idri.🇺🇦🇭🇹🇾🇪
By the way the cargo for the Railen are pods that protect the cargo containers which would be located inside of it. It's a like a protective cannister for cargo so it should have a way to open up. IIRC it has a tractor so it should be pretty easy to access.
Fun fact about the Banu: They use the best tech from each race: Tevarin shields, Xi'an thrusters, Banu guns, and Human power/coolers. They may or may not also be using Vanduul hull designs.

i enjoyed the cutter starter last night. it is a bit slow and sluggish compared to the avenger titan and a smaller cargo but the ship features such as ths ship storage and lighting details made it feel more immersive and gritty. plus the easy access to its ship systems for upgrades was nice. looking forward to checking out other daily ships.
Your idea of custom scenes for every ship in the hall is genius, it would help CIG advertise their ships visually and make the show a grandiose experience !
The Mule can carry 6 hand boxes but also 2 SCU, which given the multi-tool tractor is due to get nerfed and may be limited to 1 SCU and below volume capacity (and at a very slow pace, weight depending) the Mule suddenly becomes fairly appealing
10:15 "not much of a use case" ...you can stuff like 40 of them into a ship and they work like little snub fighters in space, they have next to no signature so they're basically stealth snubs, and some craft it is the only thing that will fit in, so, many use cases.
Luckily it didn't spoil for me it was your Gatac Syulen video that I found out about the ship on it and well I found myself in a position to do so I was meant to be buying a bicycle but the weather has been unforgiving this late fall so I've tabled that till next year I found myself buying the Syulen instead I wanted to splurge on something game related but I didn't wanna buy another game that I may not play anytime soon so I figured I'd get this plus with LTI and the fact it's a pledge means I can now melt my other package down later without worrying about losing access to the game in the process! TBH i'm still reeling from the whiplash the Syulen came out of nowhere for me, I immediately fell in love with it watching your vid and well I never cared enough about the other alien ships... it's appearance to me is striking in a different way and the organic marbleized granite look has an almost eco look to it! It kinda strikes me in it's set up like the shape of a campfire at the same time looking like an alien monument almost an obelisk vibe... and well on top of that with all of the amenities it has I'll be getting the expedition pack next year and exploring the universe one day with my exploration org Orion's Reach and hopefully get more people to join us... but I feel like when i'm not doing that I just wanna go out backpacking on somewhere like micro in a Novak armor I can place it in the suit holder on this ship with guns and this ship can be my whole landing site and it's organic rock look will blend right in, in fact with the snow the Chi,iing (white and gold) livery has kinda grown on me so i'll probably sport that and be out in the snowy countryside somewhere I just hope they add it.
watching the syulen video, that ship gives me the apollo 11 lander alien version vibe, so i feel you would have that ship attached to another and be like a drop pod
Oli, got a multicrew question: there's a Star Trek game called 'Bridge Crew' where you manage the AI Helm, Tactical, Operations and Engineering from a Captains chair, will you take a look and do a video if that approach would work with Star Citizen capital ships?
I love the Redeemer for the number of situations I should not have been allowed to escape, amazing times. Five star hammerhead bullying ship friends not included.
The blade is actually not the updated model. It was just created in a manner more similar to the new assets coming in, but all 3 (scythe, glaive, and blade) are getting a really detailed rework. I can't wait!
I was always hoping for there to be a no man's sky Easter egg like being able to find one of the games ships or freighter somewhere or an atlas station.
Much Much smoother Ollie, looks great with the controller. One of my biggest complaints about FPS content is that watching someone who uses a mouse is just vomit inducing.
I think the Nautilus looks cool but it's probably going to be really worthless depending on how they make the mines work maybe it would be cool to lay mines that have a radius when you get close to them they're like a magnet and attract to your ship and blow up once they hits edit kind of exactly like what olli said
Talon underpowered? Friend, it's been one of the best fighters by far in the whole game. Well, until they shadow nerfed it this IAE patch by reducing its maneuverability and acceleration..
I think this is an amazing game and it has so much potential but it just takes so long for them to do anything, like when people say im excited for these things to come out its going to take 10 years for them to do that.
No offense but just playing it for 1 hour i had 2 major crashes and even SIMPLE things like docking/Refuling/Selling can lead to lost progress or mission failor. Those focus on Ships is great if the basic are working and yes it is an Alpha but srsly basic stuff is not working... i don´t get it why they are not fixing stuff thats in the game since the beginning.
@@AnotherVoiceless It works for me too for 90% of the time. Kinda suxx trying to sell all stuff you just farmed to the NPC selling bug 😅 Those 10% are kinda Important. If it where some kind of a Hardware problem i would not argue at all. But im Running a decent System whit a 4tb m.2 SSD 4gb/s read and 2gb/s write speed (raid 0) whit a Rtx3080ti and a 12900k E-Cores off.
i think it is time for cig to start completing this game and release it, stop mimicking while they are ahead. this gatac railen that is in concept is another ship in resemblance to a ship in Eve online, starting to see more and more of these while cig claims to be making completely unique stuff.
The „presentation“ IAE is a nice Thing but the game has the same Bugs since 2020 when i play it the last time, so i dont care new ships. They should fokus on making the game playable and fix bugs instead of design ships!
Olli goddamnit you triggered me, 1st off, thats not a spiderweb, tevarin are birds, the hell they would do with spiderwebdesigns xD?! its a birdsnest design, supposed to be sticks xd! 2nd the Talon is considered one of the top 10 dogfighters, its only 2-3 positions behind the Gladius, dont disrespect my bird of death xd! 3rd, the problem with the Prowler is the same with every dropshipdesign, the fact that you cant sit down in armor makes all the seats frickin useless!... when its implemented that you cant sit down in armor obviously.
Do you think they'd still do these events if they didn't sell ships for literally hundreds of dollars? Something tells me no. Which is a shame because it should be a passion for the nerdy stuff not $$$. Which is why I'm never that bothered about IAE and Invictus (apart from Javelin tours).
As a marketing model for funding, it’s pretty awesome. You can tell just by how it’s put together there is a passion for the nerdy stuff going on. There’s no shame in capitalism my friend.
You gotta remember people have to get paid and technology takes money to develop, this is an amazing way of showing ships and letting people fly them and if they choose spend money to support the development of the game

Price increase right before the Expo, Whitley's Guide saved, no great CGI films so far, an overpriced, useless starter ship for which they even had to make the Nomad more expensive so that someone would buy it. And of course the same bugs as every year, James. Star Citizen is doing right? The only question is for whom. This IAE seems more like begging for money so far. Okay... nice color theme.

Yeah this is correct, they are just triangle pods that the regular cargo containers go into. A dev mentioned it on spectrum in october

That Prowler roof is like a thatched nest, perhaps inspired by the Tevarin bird roots.
The Khartu-al reminds me of the "mosquito" ships in NMS.
the prowler is designed to look like branches / a birds nest as it is a ship from the bird people (the tevarin)

Titan is still the BEST starter ship. Has more SCU than any other starter and can fit a PTV without an issue. :)
You'll need to define "starter" better, for this to make sense.

The Banu Defender reminded me alot of Halo's Covenant ships like the Banshee, Phantoms, Wraiths, etc.
I got QT'd straight into Microtech. My body marker was 100km below the surface 😂 Other than that the patch has been mostly OK
Ollie, I think you missed the possible new mining tool...a set of "binoculars" in a case next to the guy hand mining. Maybe a mineral scanner?

15:25 it would be amazing if they made models(maybe even to build) in real life and it gave you a code for that completed one in game.
For the price of some of them they should send you a die cast model of them I know I would love my reclaimer and galaxy
Google SC ship models, and you'll find a few of them. 3d printing is also a thing since you can grab the file from the game to do it.
