I saw them at Madison Square Garden in this tour. Page was on a mission in 1998. He was back in early 70s form and Plant was going for the screams alot. Great tour.
I'll tell you what, skydiving couldn't produce the adrenaline rush these guys can, saw them in Philly this tour by far my best night out ever

I was there!! INCREDIBLE show!!!! for whatever reason, a dozen or so "kids" followed my wife and I into and elevator because they thought we knew where Robert and Jimmy were. They kept egging us to tell them where they were. They were almost like stalkers, talking about busting into another hotel to find them, etc., was kinda scary. We didnt get off on our floor but went to the hotel bar, where the kids still followed us to. We told the bartender and he called security.

Saw them both nights in Chicago and was so happy to see how great they were playing together. Yes Jimmy was back to playing at the same level as the 72 tour. If you listen to various bootlegs of 98 tour and listen to How the West Was Won, it’s uncanny how much Page is playing at the same level 26 years removed. Check out the Vegas bootlegs and London bootlegs as well.

Jimmy was really back in form and playing great on this tour, he and Plant were at their post Zeppelin best on this tour. Walking into Clarksdale was such a great record as well, the stuff they mixed into the set sounded so good with the Zeppelin material, too bad Plant walked away after this tour. Would've loved another Page/Plant album and tour after this one.

But do you notice during this era, Jimmy seems to have lost some energy? He is not as colorful, has short hair, and gained just a little bit of weight. He is just not himself as if someone and or something took him over! I wonder if anyone else notices this.

This is a good example of why Zeppelin was considered the BEST LIVE band of their ERA. I'd say the BEST LIVE BAND of ANY ERA, but that just me.....With BONHAM on drums they were just sooooo BAD-A$$. I saw ZEPPELIN TWICE, and NO ONE else even came close to them.

You sound like me. I saw then twice in the 70’s, then Plant and Page 3 times. Also Plant with hs other various bands. Life changing for me! No band ever came close ♥️♥️♥️
From 69 into 72 zep was the best live band ever imo. After that the members fell off one by one. Plant lost his voice never to recover it. Bonham was deep into the drink and Page was a heroin addict. Jones is the only one to come out somewhat unscathed.
@@rickchyczewski576 , not a die hard Zeppelin fan Rick? I wouldnt put them out by 72. Their last concert in Nebworth was amazing. So was all of their work before that. We sadly lost Bonzo in 1980, and the band couldnt go on. After that Plant flourished in another direction with his voice just as powerful-as before. Page has never really been able to get live gigs without Plant, but he is still the best guitar player ever. I , for one continue to savor their ability to have produced the best live shows by any band.
@@pattyraczynski9566 I would classify myself a hardcore zep fan. Let me expand on what I said. Zep was the greatest rock band from 68 to 72. Ever. No one could top them live. I am of the opinion that thst eras Robert plant could sing the blues better than any white man ever. Page was hungry. After 72 they were still a great band. Plant recovered eventually with a different voice. It's still better than most but he was no longer the greatest rock singer of all time. He was in a larger group. Plant is what brought me to zep. First time I heard hmmt, I was just blown away by the singer. That feeling never goes away and I am 53 now. I listen to them as much now as I did when I discovered them in the early 80s.

Great show, thanks Mark Zep! I saw a show on this tour with my brother and friends. Vancouver BC 1998 at GM Place, ( now Rogers Arena). Great show also...very clear sound there. Only complaint is everyone in the audience was standing and rowdy. Hard to really see and listen to everything. Hoping to see it on TH-cam sometime!

The early 70's 69-75 Zeppelin was a live musical experience like no other band, and I saw a lot of great live bands back then including The Stones, Faces, Kinks, Who, BOC, Humble Pie, YES, ELP, etc., etc. To state that NOTHING came close to the Magical Vibe of Zeppelin is really saying something!!!
Not even Page and Plant come close.Peace.

Correct, No one I SAW even came close to Zeppelin....until 2017 WHEN ROGER WATERS got pretty close ! closer than anyone else did !
I have the complete set list from the Palace of Auburn Hills I went both nights on Friday and Saturday , the only difference were the Encore songs, I think they played 13 songs each night

Why they didn't invite Jonesy is beyond me and was a mistake!
It's bc they (at least Plant) didn't want a full on Led Zeppelin reunion. Having all of the living members of a band come back together is basically a reunion no matter what the band says. Here, they're still able to somewhat say that it's no reunion.
And plant also said. Splitting the money 2 ways of better than 3
Plus there’s a history between the 3.. towards the end Jonsey didn’t have anything to do with the members except practice and concert. He didn’t even travel in the same car.. we was sick of all the crap.. Page always high.. bonhams drinking and all the constant touring. In 74 he left. Peter talked him into coming back..
@@STW-News-Headlines Who knows the real reason, but I think the other reply was right... when you add JPJ, it becomes a "Led Zeppelin Reunion" and becomes a much different animal. Every stupid journalist will inevitably ask, "what is it like playing without Bonzo?" ...Robert in particular has never gotten over Bonham's death, after all it was Robert who convinced John, his childhood friend, to come be part of his new band.
I do however think it was really shitty of Page and Plant to call their 1995 tour "No Quarter" and to include that song in the setlist... the song most closely associated with Jones, his signature song.
At least we got the O2 show with all three of them, I was particularly happy for Jonesy, that he got to have that experience one last (hopefully not) time.

Plant said the reason.. They didn’t want to split/divide the money 3 ways.. that was one I’m sure of many. And I’m sure that they didn’t want a reunion as well.. but it was mostly about money. At the end of zeppelin Jonsey didn’t get along with page and plant.

Jacksonville went thru a severe "dry spell" for several years in the early & mid 2K's in regards to GOOD RnR shows/bands ....... not sure why that market has been repeatedly passed up by several high profile bands , as of late?
The 1970's & 1980's were a great time for RnR shows in Jax. ...... it's a great city , but like many , it has been governed (at times) by some seriously fucked up people (i.e. DEMOCRATS!) .....I'd love to Jax rebound & fix their commercial RE issues as well as their homeless issues .....it's a great town .
