    I love how they got rid of the old gear switches on the steering wheel and opted for the paddles.

    Besides the grill getting lower and the headlights becoming less vertical, the car looks exactly the same as it did in 1963. Even with the lights and grill, it looks practically identical to the 1997 version.

    I respect porsche immensely for not changing their design much. Im glad that they dont ruin the looks of all their cars by trying to make them look all modern and edgy like most other manufacturers. Thats a classic design that works and is distinctively porsche, and I wouldnt change it either.

    That is so true- Plus it's much easier to down shift two gears say from 5th to 3rd in a manual car.

    Bam! I was waiting for it for so long. The key word here is Direct Injection. With more precise control of fuel delivery it's no surprise you can optimize for fuel economy, and performance. I can't wait for DI engines in tuner cars.

  • @kmi187

    The turbo stays the same, but a GT2 is lighter because it has a RWD drivetrain instead of AWD and a some interior controls are just not there. It also has a bigger bore engine, has suspension and brakes upgraded and probably a completely re-tuned ECU.
    The 911 Turbo is still top of their range as far as stock out of factory Porsches go. GT2's however are completely different animals, with a pricetag to match.

    Good to see that Porsche have finally seen sense and offered the PDK equipped cars with conventional gearbox paddles rather than those silly buttons mounted on the steering wheel.

    It was originally called the '901,' when it went on sale, a Porsche internal project name, but Peugot protested they had worldwide rights to any car name with three numbers with a zero in the middle, so Porsche changed it to 911. That's how it got its name.

    @japster1358 tbh the reason is that porsche allways was a 2+2. the reason the've put the engine behind the back wheels is to fit 2 more seats in the first place.) i know its funny, and maybe unnesesary for some people but still its a 911.)

  • @jrs89
    @jrs89 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was exaggerating the visibility issue there are SUVs and crossovers (think the previous generation Cadillac SRX) with terrible visibility issues in terms of blind spots. F355 is not a problem as the F430 is with the blind spots. I think its when you're driving something so fragile and pricey around, the blind spots make it difficult. With low midengined ferrari it is very difficult to see what's sitting in your blind spot due the long flat b pillars.

    @japster1358 i dont want to sound cocky or anything but my dad has 2009 911 targa 4S. one day we drove it to one of his friends and gave him a lift from his house to one of the caffes in the town center. he wasnt very comfortable sitting at the back but still his legs werent touching the front seat. so i wouldnt call 911 a two seater. its as porshce says 2+2. if its nessesary you can have 4 people inside.

  • @IvyLeagueCars
    @IvyLeagueCars 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love this car. It is criticized for only one thing, not having a good sound.
    But I actually love the sound, it's this wonder howl silent and deadly, very Porsche.
    Plus, if you can afford this car, you can afford a Ferrari 360 to make up for it.

  • @jrs89
    @jrs89 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Porsche still makes their non-gt 911s with the intention that owners will realistically use them. The sheer maintenance, lack of visibility, and ground clearance would make the Ferrari difficult to own. It would be a risk driving one from my house to nearest freeway (potholes, curbs, etc). There is no question the 458 and MP412 will delivering more thrills w/ the mid engine v8s and no rear seats. As much as I love 'em, Ferrari doesn't make road cars. They make track-beasts and eye-candy.

  • @justincrap
    @justincrap 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't understand, why would they limit the speed to 312? and BTW he said top speed of 312km/h. if it was limited to that he just wouldn't miss it.

  • @justincrap
    @justincrap 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe because it has a small engine, and the turbo thrust dies at that speed. so it should do like 315 to 320. It's a quick car not a fast car.

  • @brocky
    @brocky 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    They have manual transmissions for it too. The flappy paddles were made because of complaints about the push/pull pads that were on the steering wheel and how it was confusing. But I do dislike the chrome look on the paddle shifters. Why chrome... looks cheap.

  • @danny355
    @danny355 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow , I really have to disagree with you there. In my experience with Ferraris, visibility is just not an issue. Lambos yes, ridiculous. Spent a bit of time with 355s and 360s and the former has quite a low nose but never scrapped it once or had any problems with potholes etc and I live in England. As for maintenance, its not so bad. You need to budget for £2k a year plus tyres for the modern V8 ferraris to keep them mint so theres not that much differnece between maintenance of a 911 and a 430

  • @typeerk

    Forget the accent, what is really new in this car? Steering wheel, paddles for the gears, rims, 20 horses more? Renewed exterior? Nothing but a disappointing face-lift/tuning if you ask me, and I like Porsche.
    And yes, there are a few glitches in the picture, and a black spot for about 20-30 seconds in the middle of it.

    Yeah we will have to wait and see but thats what the GTR is designed for the track. Not bad mouthing the 911 Turbo but the GTR beat it on every track and test previously. Only the straight did the 911 beat the GTR but the GTR sucks at straight line. If the 911 proves better at every test then they have achived there goal and will have one hell of a car, even being a GTR fan noob I love this new 911 it looks fantastic!

    Good thing Wolfgang didn't plant that Porsche into the wall at the end. Too bad Porsche has a $14 B deficit after former C.E.O. tried to buy VW.
    Let's see if a $100k plus Porsche sedan can put Porsche back in the black. Too bad the economy and credit markets tanked when they did. Mr. Wiedeking had been stellar in the management of the firm up to this point.
    C'est la vie.

    this guy talks like how jay leno impersonates arnold schwarzenegger lmao.
    and i think you'd be nuts to buy a porsche with an automatic gearbox. sure the pdk will give a better acceleration time in a straight line, but the manual is so much nicer to use, and as jason plato demonstrated, faster around an actual circuit.
    the pdk is only for people in beverly hills who are buying this car specifically for its badge, and probably don't know what a manual is even.

    The concept of " new" is to be innovative - yes, the car has some new gadgets. But I'm heavily bored with the design. Think about it - the 911 is the VW Golf(or Beatle ) of the supercars league. It's not bad at all, don't get me wrong - just boring.
    Just my opinion, didn't mean to offend anyone.

    It's harder and more expensive to make a rear-engined, unbalanced car hanlde. They could've made a front-engined car with a gearbox in the back and spank the GT-R with their superior tech, but instead, they decided to stick with tradition.

    Cant get excited about this car with the Ferrari 458 and the McLaren mp412 just around the corner. The games moved on, the 911 is just going to fall further and further behind as each year passes. The McLaren is just on a different planet to this thing. Still, love the 993 turbo and its a good buy now. The modern cars look too bullky.
