This is my absolute favorite candy. Can’t wait to make them. I have enjoyed making many of your dishes. I am 87 years old and still learn new things from Tom. We are never too old to learn!

May God continue to bless you and your lovely wife and family and may you prosper in all you do, in Jesus' name.

Margot, I’m glad this is a recipe that you will be comfortable making. Just want you to know that you can get a candy thermometer from pretty much any grocery or home store, Walmart included, for a very, very reasonable price. Having a good candy thermometer opens up a whole world of candy making possibilities. Just something to think about. Merry Christmas!
Mary, I am absolutely fascinated by nativity sets. I don’t even know how many we have. I love having them all over the house during Christmas, even in our bathrooms. Thank you for noticing the one we have on our kitchen counter. Merry Christmas!
My wife makes pralines, but she pours it in a cookie sheet on parchment paper and then she takes a knife and cuts it in squares, and she also makes them dipped in chocolate😊 just remember the pralines before they completely cool has to be cut. You cannot cut with a knife after they’re cool.

AND the best job is to be the beautiful wife to Chef Tom! How awesome are those jobs!! 🤗🤗❣❣Thank you for the videos, recipes and for all that you both do for all of us! Merry Christmas! 😊💖🙏🌹
I’m not so sure about all of that, Lisa. Being the taste tester is probably a great job. Melissa would also tell you that it’s much better to be the camera woman than to be on my side of the camera. However, as hard as I try, I’m sure I’m not always the perfect husband. Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. Merry Christmas!

Another recipe so similar to mine, the only difference is, I also add one teaspoon of maple extract. Thank you for showing the neophytes how easy it can be.
Oh I can't believe you said that, I've got some maple extract and I was thinking about adding that, wondering how it would make it taste! Thanks for your comment.

Love these! Like you, I like my pecan pieces big, and I want plenty of them in there. I was also thinking it might be fun to do an alternative version with some chocolate chips in there. It'd be tricky, though, because I'd want chocolate streaks instead of chocolate all throughout them. I know y'all are working very hard to make this series happen, but it really is fun having y'all daily.
@@Susan-cooks That's really more chocolate than I'm looking for. My other thought besides swirling it in at the last bit of stirring would be to have someone follow behind the spooning out and drip a few chips onto the hot mixture, and then they'd melt in that way.
@@bowed305 If you dipped a teaspoon in some melted chocolate & quickly went back & forth over each piece you may get the amount of chocolate you're looking for. @@bowed305 I like the idea of chocolate chips. You might achieve the swirl by running a toothpick through the melted chips. Mini chips will melt quickly. Good luck!

Rita, these are not hard at all. In fact, I think they’re very simple. I’m so excited that you’re going to make them for Christmas. We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas.
I made these last week before I ever saw your video. It was my very first time, and I tried to follow the directions exactly, but I either stirred them too long or cooked them too long I could barely get them out of the pan. They were hard thick. I think they were starting to turn back into sugar. I was very disappointed because those pecans are not cheap. Yours look great. I would eat another one if someone made them but I don’t think I’ll ever try it again because I’m too afraid of that happening again and it’s too costly. Good job, Tom and Melissa.
I used to make these many years ago. They make wonderful gifts. I used a candy thermometer to get them to the right temperature, but I like Tom's method better. Either way, they're fabulous. A little hallelujah for the mouth.
nikibretthauer, one of the great things about this recipe is that you don’t have to use a thermometer or cook it to a certain stage. I love that it’s done just by timing it. I hope you give it a try and enjoy it as much as we did. Merry Christmas!
@@maryanndarr8057, you don’t have to use a thermometer or cook it to a certain temperature. If you’ll notice in the video, it’s all done by timing the boiling of the candy. Merry Christmas!
That's How You Make Pralines Right They Never come Out the same Size! Us New Orleans Love's them at Christmas Time as Well.. But I Cook Them Pralines like Once a Month lol Chocolate Ones too All Different Flavors
just made a batch of virgin prawlines (no nuts) boy are they delicious!! In the summer of 1983 I worked for Mrs. Bess Lykins who was from Nawlins. She taught me how to say it right. Thanks mr. & Mrs. Lykins. You are fondly remembered.
I adore you! These videos are so heartwarming and good American eats…. Thanks so much for sharing these recipes and your wonderful tips. That last one about NOT doubling or tripling the recipie is a life saver (I was thinking I would do a double batch until you steered in the right direction. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas😊

I was taught to make these in “Home Ec” in 7th grade (and I’m 70 years old now!) . But I remember how much I loved these!! I’m so glad I caught this post! Now I can make them again. Yay!🎉 thanks
Aaahhhh, I just love this time of year, my tastebuds are dancing!!! When I was flying with the airlines, pralines were one of my favorite treats to pick up down south. The best I tasted were in Savannah Georgia. I didn’t think they were this easy to make, but Tom makes everything look so easy lol! Love you guys, God bless! ❤
Chris, we certainly do appreciate that. It means the world to me that you take the time to watch our videos every day. Thank you for being a part of our TH-cam family. Merry Christmas!
Your video was the best one I have ever seen and made things so simple and the candy. It’s totally delicious. This is my favorite candy. I am from New Orleans but this is my favorite candy and my favorite recipe.
OK, Tom and Melissa! I always have faith in everything you show us. And this year I’m gonna try to make the pralines one last time. I have made them so many times and they just don’t seem to set up. I spent half of my Christmas season, looking for the best way to make a praline. Last year I made them and I had to scrape them off with a spoon because they just didn’t set up.
berbabrinkley, YOU’VE GOT THIS! I have all the faith and confidence in the world that you are going to do a fabulous job making these pralines. Make sure you boil them for the full four minutes, remove them from the heat and immediately add in your vanilla, butter, and pecans, and then beat the mixture with a large spoon about 75 to 100 beats until it starts to lose it shine. Scoop them out quickly on your parchment paper! I cannot wait until I get a message back from you saying that you made them and that they were a huge success. YOU CAN DO THIS! GO, berba!!!!!
Pralines are a New Orleans treasure. Here we all grew up eating them. We say, "Pra leens," "Pa cawns," and "New Awlens (or New Or Le Ans). Thanks for your video. May you both have a very Blessed Christmas Season. Get ready, because on January 6 (Little Christmas/King's Day) starts the Mardi Gras season.
Eileen, however they are pronounced, I love them! And, I love visiting New Orleans! I usually pronounce your city as Nawlins, which I have heard most of the locals say. It is such a fun city, but I stay way off Bourbon Street. That is not a place for me.😂 Merry Christmas!
I’ve only had pralines once when a co-worker from New Orleans came to where I worked in Ohio and she made some and brought them to work one Christmas to share , they were delicious !! I can now make some myself ! Thank y’all ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
Way to get to the finish line Tom!! All I can say is yum and yum! Never made these but am going to now, can I just come to your place for Christmas? LoL 😊 Merriest Christmas to you both!
Oh, Dori, you have no idea how much Melissa and I wish we had a place where we could gather all 224,000 subscribers. That would just be heaven on earth for us. Unfortunately, we’re all just going to have to wait and meet in heaven one day. Until then, we wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Throughly enjoy pralines! Not sure my grandchildren or Great-Grandchildren have had them. Have to make a batch during the holidays! Thanks for all your great recipes!
One of my absolute favorites. My Grandmother made these when I was a child, no recipe and she used Buttermilk in hers. One question I have for these and the caramels. Can I use liquid vanilla? I just didn't know how it would work for the texture of the candy. Thanks
Isn't it amazing how the reality of 4 minutes is way longer than the idea of minutes 😂? It always amazes me, for sure. This is a brand new recipe for me and I might make these to gift this Christmas 🎄 🎁 💝
My mom made this for frosting on a spice cake, homemade of course. She maybe had a little more milk in it but it sat up like pralines. It’s such a great taste.
Oh my goodness. I had no idea how basically easy these delicious candies actually are to make. I just might make some. I'm putting on weight just reading the recipe. 😂😂
That's cool - I've never seen a "pinch" measuring spoon! You & Melissa can have my pralines - I'm allergic to walnuts & pecans. Nut allergies seem to run in my family.
Wow! They look fabulous! I have never seen thick vanilla like that, so I went back to where you were showing the ingredients and saw that it was a paste. Is there an advantage to using that? Where do you get it? Then I remembered that it's the 21st Century and I can order it online. So, I looked it up. No more running from store to store! Are all the recipes you are making in your cookbook?
Hi Tom and Melissa, here in Boston we call these pray-leens. I’d like to be sitting at your table right now! So far, I’d like to make these and the creamy caramels as gifts and for my cookie and candy platter, and we’re only on day five!🤭 Thanks so much. Enjoy the season! ❤️🎄🎁🧑🏻🍳✌️Peace on earth…

Hi to hello everyone ❤🙏from Tennessee. I going to try this. Yummy
I used to make these many years ago. They make wonderful gifts. I used a candy thermometer to get them to the right temperature, but I like Tom's method better. Either way, they're fabulous. A little hallelujah for the mouth.
What temp did you cook them too? I have made them before. It seems like it was 232 but I would have to look
nikibretthauer, one of the great things about this recipe is that you don’t have to use a thermometer or cook it to a certain stage.
Katie, we appreciate your kind and encouraging words so much! We appreciate that you are sitting at our table and a part of our channel. Merry Christmas!
Oh these look so good.
❤
Sherry, I appreciate that. They really are delicious. Merry Christmas.
I was taught to make these in “Home Ec” in 7th grade (and I’m 70 years old now!) . But I remember how much I loved these!! I’m so glad I caught this post! Now I can make them again. Yay!🎉 thanks
Oh, Nancy, I am so excited that we were able to reconnect you with this delicious praline recipe. Merry Christmas!
I love pralines. Definately going to make these. My Moms favorite ice cream is Pecan Praline. My other favorite is Pecan Tassies and Pecan Pie.
Thank you for taking the time to come up with different recipes everyday. I might not make all of them but I look forward to each video. ❤
Chris, we certainly do appreciate that. It means the world to me that you take the time to watch our videos every day. Thank you for being a part of our TH-cam family. Merry Christmas!
Praylines and prawlines have always been my favorite homemade candy. Save me some if you can.😋
Your video was the best one I have ever seen and made things so simple and the candy. It’s totally delicious. This is my favorite candy. I am from New Orleans but this is my favorite candy and my favorite recipe.
Yes! Melissa it’s your job!
Make sure that is not raining or really humid, that can cause candy to not set up
Pralines are a New Orleans treasure.
@@tomwyant9297 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I’ve been looking forward to a recipe that I can do, but I’m not sure I can do this when I haven’t been able to do it. Good yet. I’ll try it though.
I absolutely love pralines. Yummy 😋
That looks so good, thank you guys for this great candy recipe.
Thanks
I love these!!! I’ve never tried to make them
Tammy, they really are pretty simple to make. You should give them a try. Merry Christmas!
All I can say is YUM.
Thank you, Phyllis. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the tip to not double but to make it twice.
Wow! Who knew candy making was so suspenseful? I might not make it! lol! 😂 Those pralines look delicious!
Oh, Jennifer, I have great faith in you and know that you can make it just like I did! The pralines are absolutely delicious. Merry Christmas!
Thank you, going to try making pralines 😊
I call them the second pronunciation, shared this with my daughter because I would love to make these, Hope she takes the hint.
Those are huge! ❤❤❤❤
Isn't it amazing how the reality of 4 minutes is way longer than the idea of minutes 😂? It always amazes me, for sure. This is a brand new recipe for me and I might make these to gift this Christmas 🎄 🎁 💝
Cathy, this would make a wonderful Christmas gift. I’m sure those who receive it will be thrilled. Merry Christmas!
Thank you Tom and Melissa for another delicious recipe. Looks yummy 😋
These look so awesome..ive never had these but im going to try and make these for sure..have a wonderful weekend and enjoy ❤❤
Originally I’m from south Mississippi near New Orleans. Now live in Crossville Tennessee. Yes praw leens
I'm so excited to try this! Thank you for sharing!
The first time I had a proper “praw”line was in Charleston. I am from the Midwest and never really had one before. I was in love! Gotta try this soon.
Treasure deal, they really are very easy to make. We hope you’ll give them a try. Merry Christmas!
I’ve made pralines before. Different recipe but similar. They were a big hit wherever I took them.
So far, I’d like to make these and the creamy caramels as gifts and for my cookie and candy platter, and we’re only on day five!🤭
Thanks so much. Enjoy the season! ❤️🎄🎁🧑🏻🍳✌️Peace on earth…
