Wow got the trophy. Thanks matey. Jumping on the rooftops while on fire shooting them with arrows was the absolute key, otherwise you're going to be spending all your precious time trying to achieve this annoying trophy. I kept accidentally killing them too soon and then it was difficult to find more of these type of guards. Awesome video, video liked

Don't usually comment on videos but thought this was a great video so had to! This was one of the last achievements I needed and thought it would be a lot harder! Only took me 5 min on my first try! For anyone having trouble with this achievement/trophy, Just keep finding shield guards to kill. I had to kill 5-6 before it popped up for me and I broke combat a couple of times. Also make sure you have the fire symbol that actually means you're on fire on the bottom left where your health is. Other than that just keep killing until it pops up! Great video by the way! Made it super easy to get! :)
I've tried several different methods to get this one to pop up for me. Including a variation of what's in the video posted above. The method that finally worked for me is: I powered through the game until I was a 300 power level, then I went to Werham for a quest. Here's what I did when I got there. I busted an oil jar next to a building climbed up on the roof of a building I was standing in front of. Took out, lit and dropped my torch on the roof. Busted a second oil jar by the first building. Annoyed the shield-bearers and for whatever reason, without me even lifting my weapon a second time, they walked into my fire storm and burst into flames. What I find strange is, I only shot arrows at the bearer's feet to annoy them, after that the rest fell into place. But it worked.
This is probably one the better walkthroughs and spots for this trophy that I've seen. I mean I wouldn't reset all my points, as long as you're at 280 or below the enemies will have the skull icon. The sitting on the burning roof and returning the spears of the heavy shield enemies does work effectively and the trophy will pop.
Yeah great walk through, also he had to reset his skill points cause he was level 400, either that or take away like 120 points, I just took away points that I didn’t need got it and reloaded the save easy peasy

THANK YOU so much for this! I got it very easily. I was level 340 and just wiped out a couple chunks of my skills to about 275. Went to the exact spot in the video and just started killing everyone from the burning rooftop. My fire resistance was really good so I basically hung out there for 5 minutes and the trophy popped! Didn't even use the throwback ability - just crushed them with arrows.

Thank you. Got the trophy first time following your guide. I killed 1 shield Bearer in Wincestre and 2 in Werham. Make to sure to manually re-load your new save file with easy mode. The game does it for you automatically when changing modes but exit the game and re-load the new save file.

I finally got this thank you, literally took a break from getting this achievement and decided to do it again since the dlc came out. Did the same thing he did but idk what happened for me but was able to one shot all three in the head, thank god I’m done with this. I think you can use mastery point because I had like almost 100 mastery point on.
This worked on 2nd try! Thank god! Just lowered my level to about 279 and it took only one or 2 reversals tops. Felt like i broke combat once or twice since after the 2 standard bearers i had to seek another enemy
I just tried it. According to me you don't have to be in the same combat. I killed two and died, reloaded previously manually saved game, killed one more and then got the trophy! 😁
THANK YOU. I spent so much time trying to do this with the guards by the gate. At one point it got super buggy and I wasn't staying on fire (after dying and respawning this fixed itself?). I did the rooftop trick and after one shield bearer the trophy popped.
This was ace, thanks for this it was buggy, it didn't drop for me first time, but then loaded back up I still had to kill 4 shield bearers but nevertheless the breakdown was great stuff. Many thanks!
Just done this on second attempt, I only did the smaller shielded guys and it popped.. used predator bow whilst on roof.. platinum done in 104 hours! Thanks 👍🏻
On my second attempt I managed to get this trophy. I put my level up to around 240 so the damage killed in one hit, I usually hit them with an arrow to lower the damage slightly before attempting. Not sure if recent patches had fixed bugs that surrounded this trophy previously. Biggest issue is timing but you get the hang of it quick enough
Amazing guide and excellent location. I thought I had to restart the game, due to the fact you need to be lower power level (I'm 400 too).. but of course... silly me, you can reset everything. Lmao. xD
I unlocked thoa today. I killed three without breaking combat and killed 2 others in two different encounters in that xamp and got it. Not sure if its delayed or only counts as one since i climbed on a roof and lit them on fire and uses reverse missle
A little adaptation to this method if you are having trouble. Try just removing skills until you are under skill level 300 (I did 299 just to be safe). Then weaken the shield bearers so that you can kill them with one hit from catching and throwing back their projectiles while being on top of the house that is on fire. Being level 299 made me able to take a few more hits from the enemies.
Finally got ths trophy thanks to this video. I did it after 6 tries but on my 3rd attempt I 100% killed 3 soldiers without breaking their shield so its still a little buggy.
Finally got it but it seems as though when throwing the spears back if it then hits a shield even a shield bearers one that can't break that wont count either
4:21 "I have no way to know if I broke this guy's shield..." I mean, it was irrelevant as you ran over and had an option for a stun attack so he wasn't dead yet.
What I did was equip two weapons no shield ingnore small enemies only focus on deflecting the spears from the big guys once you killed the first guy get off the roof wait for the fire to go out and go back up kill the next guy and do that again for the next guy
I can’t see and find a Red Skull enemies in the area why ? My current lvl 416 full tree abd I have mystery points installed but I tried to decrease my lvl down to 260,286,100 and bellow hundred still the Red guys aren’t showing any idea why ? Plus I didn’t finish the story yet and didn’t travel to Vinland so please help
I think I got lucky with this one because when I tried it I only killed 2 so I went to try again put myself on fire and the trophy popped the second I killed only one guy, weird but appreciated ^^
If none of these fixes are helping you get the trophy BUT you know you've definitely met the requirements several times - fast travel to Ravensthorpe and speak with Petra and "Take Her To Bed". Saw this on the Ubisoft support page and worked instantly for me on PS5. Hope this helps someone :)
Actually all you have to do is click on the let fate decide. Then when you get to about 280 back out and you can then remove the one or 2 you need to get under
How does level scaling affect this trophy? I’ve already maxed out, and I’ve been on Aesir combat difficulty for a while. That one has the level scaling where enemies are 60 levels above you, I know it’s weird bc there are some enemies that don’t scale.
After many successful but trophyless run, I teleported away and came back. I "roof-fired" myself and killed a mace+shield soldier that was left from the last try with a melee ability. And it popped.
I tried it in combat quite a few times and it didn’t work for me at all! As soon as I tried the mission reversal standing on the roof on fire it worked so thank you!
The one thing many of the other guides fail to mention is lower the difficulty so you don't die just by fire, so thanks for that.

I upgraded my guy to 150 power level. 2 missile reversals and a couple arrows for each, and they were dead. Thanks a lot for the guide, very helpful!

You don't need to totally reset your skill tree you can get rid of individual parts of it to be quicker.
If ur on 400 power level and have to get down to at most 280.. its easier and faster to reset
