    Hi Pj.
    Thanks for all your intel.
    If i can help and correct you on the blanked off vacuum actuator.
    That is a actuator if the accelerator is being pressed and the choke is on. It opens the choke under acceleration so the choke doesnt stay closed. A aircon will have a external source of input. Hope this helps🤜🤛

      On the Keihin Ks2 carb there is only one port at back of the carb.,for the Vacuum Advance.... Use a mirror to see it.. Or take a pic with phone..that pipe will run to the vacuum advance unit.. On the distributor

      Your second stage butterfly valve could be dirty and full of carbon..so just spray it down with some carb cleaner.

    Great and informative video as always, I have a question but it's bit of the topic of this video. On the left of the carb there's a unit that I see you have blanked off, what is that for as mine is Connected into the carb, have the same carb

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi that unit is applicable for engines with aircon.. It's like an idle compensator... I blank off mine like many other mk1 owners, who don't have aircon..... If the diaphragm in that unit has a tear in then it's best to blank off both sides, as it will suck unnecessary air into the fuel mix.. It's fine to leave yours as is, but just ensure you don't have a ruptured diaphragm in that unit... So best to blank off.... Well, I'm assuming you don't have aircon

    • @1andonlySella
      @1andonlySella 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pjs-golfmk1-diy yes thats correct don't have an air con, will blank it off tomorrow both side just to be safe as you mentioned. Thanks for the advice, have a great evening

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1andonlySella well when I blanked off mine the engine just idled much better and smoother, it was then that I realized that the diaphragm in that unit was shot... Not sure if it will be same when u blank off, but just listen to engine when doing so... Blank it off on the carb side, or just put your finger on the pipe coming from carb.. And hear.... Do it when engines hot.... I'm not saying it's going to run better or worse, as your diaphragm in the unit may be fine still...

    • @1andonlySella
      @1andonlySella 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pjs-golfmk1-diy evening, I have blanked off mine and don't see a notable difference with the idling but haven't driven yet. Also checked the 2nd stage and noted when I suck on the pipe the butterfly barely opens but if I open the throttle and suck on the 2nd stage the butterfly open 90 degrees. So I take it thats normal. Also just wanted to find out if it's normal for the revs to slightly move. My current rest idle is just under 1K so if I just stand and idle the Rev counter will move slightly up then down I'm talking about maby 2 or 3 millimeters. Thanks

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1andonlySella OK, so that means your diaphragm in the aircon unit is fine.. And yes it's normal as you open throttle wider the second stage will also open wider.. As long as it works is important.. The other question about idling moving about 2 or 3mm...could be to do with ignition timing not 100% on the mark. When last did u set it...

      Hi. Don't make any adjustments to it.. It doesn't open very easy when u just Rev it while car is stationary.. It activates under load, like when you driving and reach from over 2. To 2.5 rpm... Just ensure your 2nd stage diaphragm is OK.. And spray carb cleaner around the butterfly valve down throat of carb, and thereafter a tiny bit of Q20 to Lub the butterfly..

    Hi, i have problem with my 2nd stage!
    After accelerating it takes about 30 seconds for the engine to go down in rpm with the vacumhose for the 2nd stage attached.
    Is it possible that its's broken in some way so it doesn't release the vacum when i let off the gas?

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the side of carb there's a lever. Do this test,.. When the rpm does that again, go to the little lever on the side and push back on it, and you will see the RPM lowers.. That means the lever or the butterfly valve is sticky. So just spray some Q20, or Wd40 on the lever to lubricate it..... Or, the butterfly valve could be getting stuck from some dirt, so in that case spray some carb cleaner down the throat of carb, to blast away any dirt stuck there

    • @andyhouston69
