We had the Spirit Detective and Dark Tournament games growing up. I remember our tactic for beating Turgoro in the GBA game was by spamming Kuwabara’s spinning slash whenever he got close, and just running for the spirit energy to refill. I never saw the ending to Dark Tournament though, cuz Tugoro was too damn hard! My cousin says he beat it when I wasn’t around, but I don’t believe it.
Bro. I STILL play tournament tactics on my jailbroken iPad. I wish I still had my gba copy, but it’s still a lot of fun; mostly because I love the show so much. Unlocking their techniques and seeing them featured was my favorite part, and still is
Spirit Detective was so easy, I played it so many times that the karaoke tune is still burned into my head like 20 years later. I used Hiei to teleport through land and altitude borders. I laughed at how they used the same male groan sound for when you die, even when you play as Genkai.
I would love it if ArkSys made YYH FighterZ! Personally, here's my roster (including a season or two of DLC) BASE: Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, Hiei, Genkai, Rinku, Chu, Toya, Jin, Shishiwakamaru, Suzuki, Younger Toguro, Elder Toguro, Karasu, Bui, Doctor, Seaman, Sensui (Minoru/Kazuya), Yomi, Mukuro, Shigure, Shura, Mazoku Yusuke, Sacred Energy Sensui DLC: Koenma, Rando, Suzaku, Itsuki, Raizen, Enki, Ootake, Yokumo Honorable Mentions: Gourmet, Kuro Momotaro, Gama, Young Genkai
18:48 From what I remeber there's a button delay like you're inputs are only thoughts and the body reacts slightly slower only in sense. We always have a plan until they get hit. And maybe a flow type combo, which makes this harder. Like you have to hit consistent black flashes.
The clip that plays when you beat the Dark Tournament game for the PS2 game is actually really funny because of how different it is from the show. I think it came after beating Toguro. But it's an animated clip that looks like it's right from the show, but it's not. From what I remember, Hiei and Kurama walk toward you while other characters kind of dance and fly around. It's a very happy and victorious vibe and not at all how it happened in the show.
This guy shows it in the last few minutes of his vid. I guess it was made exclusively for the game. th-cam.com/video/1m-q2d6AHAc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Slj-xnZrLG3ssCo0
I remember getting Spirit Detective and Tournament Tactics for my birthday in like, 2010 since I was a big fan of YYH (probably too young for it as I was 12 at the time but w/e) and playing MAYBE an hour of SD but actually REALLY getting into TT. Never beat it tho, I got grind-walled at some point and gave up. I still have the game tho, and a DS to play it on so maybe I'll mess around w/ it again some day
I will say, Spirit Detective reminded me a lot of the 1st Dragon Ball Z Legacy of Goku game and how bare bones it was. Makes me wish they couldve made a second one with as much polish and care upgrading the gameplay as the jump from Legacy of Goku 1 to 2 that could've told the Dark Tournament story, and then a 3rd one that tells the Sensui story that wouldve been as good as Legacy of Goku 3.
Appreciate the info on the Tournament Tactics postgame. My brother and I played it a bunch as a kid, and while I could beat it I couldn't ever figure out what the pirate at the end wanted from me to go further. My brother either maxed everyone and found out or just heard about it, and I didn't care enough about the Saint Beasts to try leveling Yukina, but also Touya, Rinku, etc. Didn't know you could farm xp like that though, good to know if I ever want to try them.
I played all of these games while growing up, plus a few Japan exclusives. Tournament Tactics is definitely the best of the bunch, but I would never replay any of them.
Talking about the Yu Yu Hakusho games being weird and not mentioning the japanese only SNES game where you had some bars for placeement and attacks. It was wild getting it to work in emulators 20 years ago
I really liked Tactics despite only playing it once. It just took so long. Never maxed out the characters because I didn't know it would get me bonus content but I guess it wouldn't have been worth it anyway.
I had a game on PS2 titled The Battle of Yuu Yuu Hakusho: Shitou! Ankoku Bujutsukai! 120%. It felt like a great game, though I was 9 at the time. I think the story went from the start up until the end of the dark tournament and Sensui was teased at the end. Toguro was a huge challenge but you had checkpoints. From what I remember some fights were skipped, but overall it had a pretty good story mode and even a challenge mode.
I don’t why you struggled to max out Hiei & Kurama for the Spirit Detective GBA GAME. All you have to do is stay in an area where enemies respawn at a good rate, level them up, & save the game without completing the level. After that you set
@@dnmstarsi true the fastest way is going into the Pursuit Level, the level where you take out the Turtle Demon before he steps on the square on the other end of the level. You use Hiei as the first in your party and use darkness sword repeatedly to take him out. Easy experience points for everyone in your party
The GBA dragonball game is really good and has some unique mechanics and gameplay mixups. I'm not referring to the Legacy of Goku games. The PS1 Gundam fighter game was also a lot of fun if youre into fighters, it has an enormous roster including some really unusual looking and playing ones like the boss Dark Gundam which you can unlock.
I never played the gba hakusho game and it looks lame as hell. 23:35 what happened to Genkai's nose?? I remember I got the dark tournament game the day it came out. I barely remember any of it but I remember the part where you had to fight kuwa without using your hands as Hiei when you mentioned it. The only thing I can recall about that game if you bought it up to me was that younger Toguro was VERY hard to beat and that's all I would be able to recall of that game.
I had and beat both of the gba games back in the day and a buddy had the ps2 game dark tournament. I was hyped to play the game due to the characters but I remember it felt really clunky and I didn’t like it.
There was a bunch of Yu Yu Hakusho games in Japan but there's one I played when I was in the Philippines as a kid. It's a 2D Fighting Game called "Yū Yū Hakusho Final: Makai Saikyō Retsuden". It was pretty decent and I loved playing it with friends. You could even do Finishers kind like Guilty Gear with an anime cutscene. Couldn't understand the Japanese, but we figured out how to go through the menu. Same with all the old Japanese Dragon Ball games. All Super Famicom.
considering this is about YuYu Hakusho games, THE demon fighting anime, I don't have it in me to change the like bar from 666, though the vid deserves it. (and no Demon slayer isn't THE demon fighting anime cause YuYu is better :)))))))))))))))))))))) )

I literally just came to the comments to ask why a bread knife! lmao
Soooooooo what happened to yu yu hakusho forever?!
Is this music from Dead Pixels? If so that's so sick!!! 💯
Too bad I don't see any YYH games for the Nintendo Switch
They look more like Red and Blue spheres and not discs.
We got millions of DBZ games and Naruto games but few yu yu hakusho and hunter x hunter games.
The four Super Nintendo games and the Japan only ps2 games were the best ones
@@daltonoakleyjr391Also the 4-Player Genesis game we never got outside of Brazil and Japan.

i maxed out my level and beat Toguro in one Overdrive MEGA SPIRIT GUN shot
I had both and loved playing them.
Whenever this man talks about anything YUYU, sign me up
Great video! And now I need to go back to playing tournament tactics myself. I keep on forgetting that I was in middle of a game with it....
You showed up on my recommended out of the blue, and I'm glad I gave it a watch, you got a new sub! Thanks for your content!
I just want to chime in...I've played them ALL. Even without translations.
I'm glad mama Saturn still liked the food after making you cut produce with a bread knife.
Dude really? Jump Force is bad? You completely missed the point then.. but hey Hello Fresh!!!!!!!!!!!
Not gonna lie, seeing my twitch chats showing up in a youtube video was something I NEVER imagined I would see.
Thank you for not lying
I wish yu yu hakusho video games comes back into the Playstation 5 🎮
Apparently NO ONE played this game, so guides are hard to find. You’re the first person to point out the 4 categories of the “point” system. Thanks!

If the folks that made Dragon Ball FighterZ could make a YuYuHakusho game in the same style I would buy it. And I don't even like Fighting games.

Jus got a sub this video brought me waaaay back I look forward to seeing more
The secret to beating Toguro is throwing him I figured out by luck & after a few tries I got him.

That’s a bummer about Dark Tournament. Looks like it could be fun if rebalanced.
Awesome video! Keep it up! Would love to see more older classic Anime games.

HEY MA, LOOK I'M IN A HIGHLY SCRIPTED WELL EDITED VIDEO!
Talking about the Yu Yu Hakusho games being weird and not mentioning the japanese only SNES game where you had some bars for placeement and attacks. It was wild getting it to work in emulators 20 years ago
My friends and i used to have Budokai 1 and Dark Tournament nights
The input reading / computer priority in dark tournament is ridiculous - especially with Toguro
I remember playing Spirit Detective as a kid, beating it, and thinking that was pretty okay.
We need an open-world kind of you you game like Kakarot the follow the plot with a bunch of side stuff and then some new stuff added towards the end
Or a beat em up game if you want to make it a smaller YYH game. Maybe go all Shredder's Revenge with that idea.
I really liked Tactics despite only playing it once. It just took so long. Never maxed out the characters because I didn't know it would get me bonus content but I guess it wouldn't have been worth it anyway.
Liked the reviews keep up the good work mate 👍🏾

Great video Saturn
and mum, look, I'm on TV
13:26 What's up with the random JoJo reference on the right of the screen?
Love the video, Dark Tournament is a weird game my brother played. I liked the visuals and the knife edge death match was cool but that’s about it.
There was a good fighting game on Genesis. I forget what it’s called. It was by treasure.
Yeah on the fighting game you have to use the combos and really practice them to perfection to beat the last boss
I just want to point out your Persona 2 streaming.
That's a W in my book
Sick hair yo. Also this reminded me I gotta finish yuyuhakusho. I never did 😢

Yeah but as someone who still likes this game, it can get tiresome grinding like that. It just feels like padding to me.

I have and loved all of these games as a kid
In the drawer on the left of my side of the desk
My favorite part of the Spirit Detective game was the ear grating overworld theme.
"BWAMP BWAMP BWAMP" is stuck in my head
that shirt is dope what did you get it?
Gotta play the OG game boy black yu yu hakusho man- so much fun
The only one I didn't play the hell out of was tournament tactics. These games were actually pretty good given the limitations of the console
YH Final and Tokubetsu Hen, both in the SNES and the best imo
Togoro whooped your ass in Dark Tournament so bad Yusuke went through the ground

My local arcade has some like 2012 Yu Yu 3 button fighting game it’s actually really fun would otherwise be Japan only
Perfect job on the video
This was a fun watch!
@ 28:09 wtf is the text saying he thinks he's the only one who likes kids about?
I was with you on twitch during the burning building level - brutal
gotta play yu yu hakusho forever that one’s good
someone needs to make a rom hack of yuyu hakusho
Tournament Tactics was my child hood
14:30 not sure what the commenter is talking about considering Kurama's Japanese voice actor is a woman.
No sega yu yu fighting game? That was great! With the dual lanes and all
Of course it was but that game wasn't weird, it was a Treasure. ;)
I guess im the only one that loved the PS2 game.. I did beat it!! I had to cause I wanted all the charaters for vs lmao
Yyh content enough said new sub
yyh rpg from gba, lives rent free in my mind. i play every 2 years i think
I never played the gba hakusho game and it looks lame as hell.

Shoutout to that mediocre Inuyasha game for PS1 that I played a lot one summer as a teenager for some reason!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO
There's a Japanese only Nintendo ds game that may drive you insane
Yukina is actually very useful in tournament tatics
Stop lying.
considering this is about YuYu Hakusho games, THE demon fighting anime, I don't have it in me to change the like bar from 666, though the vid deserves it.
(and no Demon slayer isn't THE demon fighting anime cause YuYu is better :)))))))))))))))))))))) )
The GBA games were my heart
Your shirt... give it to me.
The fact that YYH Forever was not mentioned in this video, HUGE L
Why didn't you play
Yu Yu Hakusho FOREVER on the PS2 it's the best one
eheres the snes and genesis games ?????
25:22 ...Cheat.
*woosh*
jump force was hot dog water 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I find it sad that the fighting game for yu yu is trash.
