Yeah it kinda annoys me how almost every TH-camr has to beg for subs and likes in every video. Refreshing when someone doesn't do that and assumes we already fully know how TH-cam works by this time and don't need constant reminding.
@@wileyschmitt While it is annoying, apparently videos where you don't ask for subscribers give you significantly less channel growth than in ones where you do. I consider useful to point out that this is the 2nd game with this system, the first one has characters that are both in the initial part of the series and the first half of the dark tournament I love this game, it's like watching the series and getting your dream matches, also the hidden mechanics like certain skills working in combos to unlock Kurama's Yoko form, Young Genkai, "Saiyan" Karasu or 120% Toguro are great additions or how some attacks like Kuwabara's sword work like in the anime to break Itsuki's dimension is simply genius
Me and my friend played a lot of versus mode on the early 2000's. Zsnes was and still is a great emulator, a window to awesome titles. Man, you just bring me a lot of memories!
A lot like Super Godzilla, except that one involves Zilla walking around on a map until he fights an enemy, thr fight scene involves you having to wait until you are able to choose an attack, then a cutscene showing the attack happens.
@@Nagytika Well duh, this was like 20-30 years ago- some people might be able to go that long without gaining weight and losing speed or maneuverability, but there sure aren't many of them. Ah, yes, this is it. The anime-based video game that started it all (for me, that is). YuYu Hakusho Tokubetsu-hen was my very first access to the series, and also my first time knowing the shounen anime/manga genre in general. My older brother was a big fan of YYH back in the mid-90's (I was 3-4 years old during that time), so he got this game and played it a lot on his SNES (sometimes on single-player, sometimes with his friends on VS mode) while I watch him play from time to time. YYH became my OG cornerstone of becoming an anime fan that I am today, and it is probably one of my most favorite shounen series ever.
Here in Peru we were addicted to the 2nd game of the saga that is a somewhat less polished version of this one but with a better history mode. Man! I don't know how but we were capable to discover how to use all the movements and playing the game was almost as watching a cinematic manga!
Thank you for the great video! I hope you have a great rest of your day! I was going to finish my rewatch of TMNT ('03). But I think now I'll be taking a break to rewatch my Yu Yu Hakusho blu-ray set.
I’d always wondered how to play this game. Now I might go back and give it another try! Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorite anime series of all time and is my favorite in the shounen genre. Even toppling giants like Dragon Ball. So seeing someone else talk about it is always a treat!
There are guides out there that explain the mechanics. Through trial and error u can figure it out, but you can win the game just by using your strongest attacks when there is a lot of fires in the center and using your weaker ones when there’s fewer
Oh man, I learned about the YuuYuu Hakusho anime thanks to these games. I remember playing a ton of this back in the height of the SNES emulation craze which led me to create probably the first move list for the game on GameFAQs back in '98. I think both YYH1 and YYH3 have this type of game play while YYH 2 and 4 are both old school 2d fighting games. All of them are pretty fun in their own right. I'm honestly glad to see this game get a spotlight after so many years and that more comprehensive guides have been made. It's worth a try if you've never played a "cinematic fighter" before.
I remember playing this all day back in the 90s here in Peru. I asked my dad for any Saint Seiya SNES game in one of his travels and he came back with this gem. Now I'm glad he didn't knew anything about animes.
This is one of my favourite games back the day cause I was a huge fan of 幽☆遊☆白書, and it looked spectacular and was much deeper than what meets the eye. As a Chinese I didn't know Japanese but this game is full of kanji which helped me a lot on understanding what's going on there (now I can read Japanese after some hard working). Btw the YYHS for the mega drive is an awesome 4 player fighting game created by treasure. But unfortunately It's also very obscure for most western gamers for the same reason this game suffers.
Also it has an earlier version with different sets of characters and a solo campang starting from spirit detective 'till the end of dark tournament, with in game cutscenes
I remember first playing this on ZSNES way in 1999 and being completely intrigued by the style and the gameplay mechanics, once I figured them out since there was nothing online about it at all. I wrote down a quick movement list for my friends and told them to download the game and try it out which back then on dialup was a 30 minute wait depending on ROM size. Many years later I am proud to own this game complete in box, thanks for making a longer video on it.
I'm so glad that you made a video for this game. Like you, I messed around with his in ZSNES back when I first discovered emulation, and I loved the hell out of how unique it was. I've said this before, but despite how unrealistic and unlikely it'd be to happen, I'd love to see a _Pokémon_ spin-off with this kind of combat. Alternately, I'd love to see a new game that plays like this, only using _Hunter × Hunter_ characters (as they're both made by the same author).
There's a Wonderswan game called Hunter X Hunter Michibikareshi Mono that has exactly what you need. But the gameplay is a bit different but the presentation has similarities.
I love SNES Drunk videos. This looks so cinematic and i love Yu Yu Hakusho. I remember watching on adult swim back in the day. Keep up the great videos Drunk!
I don't think I've ever really stopped thinking about this game since I first played it. A friend of mine who first saw the show in the Philippines as "Ghost Fighter" years before it came here showed me this game via emulation. I remember thinking it was like playing an anime at the time!

As someone mentioned for sure the genesis treasure yu yu game should also be on everyone's to try list, it's the precursor to the popular guardian heroes game with 4 player combat for its time
I remembered playing this game with my brother on my aunts PC. Playing vs. mode on a single keyboard at the time really sucks due to how the game made you input command and weird limitation on keyboard input
I remember playing this one in an emulator too, long time ago, along with Ring Ni Kakero which is kinda the same, it has cinema-display action as well, very fun to play.
I love this game. It's probably the best anime representation in a video game for the SNES. I remember playing this on ZSNES aswell, my senior year. My buddeos didn't get but I couldn't stop playing and trying tonfigure out hownit works. I always hoped for a English patch at some point.
Me and my friends played the heck out of this game during the popularity of YYH over here (96-97ish) on the SNES with the UFO attachment. We don't understand a lick of Japanese, so figuring out everything was half the fun. I distinctly remember the amazement we had discovering Kurama transforming to Youko, and Hiei's Jagan form. This game depicts the cinematics from the series beautifully.
This one is very interesting. There's a lot of strategy involved and it's more cerebral than straight up fighting games. In the game's intro, you actually get break downs of each characters' moves and these moves are graded from C to S, if I remember right. From that you can start to get a good feel for what the good moves are for each character. It's also worth mentioning that some attacks make the stamina bar (light blue) go down, so it can be a viable strat to just force a knockdown (by emptying that bar) and then use cheap attacks (low spirit energy cost), to accumulate more energy for the next combat round (or an item, if that is being shown in the central sphere at the time), and deny your opponent those things. Lastly, projectiles have crazy priority in this game, and will generally beat non projectiles unless the opponent messes up the timing entirely or fails to fill the red action bar (I believe if you press a button right when it flashes yellow you get a boost to the action, but I can't confirm).
I hope SNES Drunk videos inspires more English patches for old SNES games. That would also be a good idea for a video: List of games that need English patches.

Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite anime and I got all 3 Super Famicom games, along with DBZ Hyper Dimension on my SNES Classic. All of them are very fun once you get the controls down
Yusuke's Spirit Gun is called Rei-Gan in Japanese. It uses the kanji for Spirit and Bullet and the pronunciation sounds like 'Ray Gun.' I think that's funny. This concludes another episode of Thanks No One Cares.
Reminds me of the Captain Tsubasa SNES game, but less menu-heavy. Taking the cinematic route and decision making approach to combat (or a soccer match in Tsubasa's case).
I hope someone does make an English patch for this game eventually because it looks amazing. May I suggest next time you do Segadrunk you should talk about that Yu Yu Hakusho fighting game made by Treasure.
This style of "fighting" game was pretty popular in Japan. Back when I was dabbling in PSX imports I ended up with a Fist of the North Star Game of a similar style.
I never played this on emulator, I actually bought the carts for this and the sequel with similar gameplay! Fortunately, it was in a bundle with the other two YYH games that played like conventional 1v1 tournament fighters
@@Mepholar I don't recall all that well, but I think it was one of the RPGs. They were indeed fun, especially when you managed out manoeuvre tough enemy.
Believe it or not, there's a pirated rom hack of this game called "pokemon stadium". I haven't played it myself, but the graphics suck and the gameplay probably suffers as well.
I remember getting this one to play in ZSNES emulator maybe 20 years ago and my reaction was just like that: what the hell am I supposed to do? Then I stick with the traditional fighting one in the Dark Chapter Arc (Sensui arc)

I loved this game. The fighting system in it is so cool still.
I remember making little index cards for each character with their moves so I could know what to do whenever I played.
My favorite game channel :)
Yusuke's Spirit Gun is called Rei-Gan in Japanese. It uses the kanji for Spirit and Bullet and the pronunciation sounds like 'Ray Gun.' I think that's funny.
This concludes another episode of Thanks No One Cares.
This game is very enjoyable. I like the characters that transform, like Kurama.
Urameshi Yusuke: Mi Existencia no sera en Vano
Reminds me of the Captain Tsubasa SNES game, but less menu-heavy. Taking the cinematic route and decision making approach to combat (or a soccer match in Tsubasa's case).
I like playing SNES games *"Any way I can"* 😉
Love this game!!! Try Yuyuhakusho Final too. It's in my opinion, the best of all the Yuyu conventional fighters on the system.
hold down, wait for bar to charge, press X, unleash the character's most powerful move
Nice one brother of the glistening sprites. HAGROYD.🕹️🕹️🕹️😁
This is what I call a great video
I hope someone does make an English patch for this game eventually because it looks amazing. May I suggest next time you do Segadrunk you should talk about that Yu Yu Hakusho fighting game made by Treasure.
I love Yu Yu Hakusho anime. I had no idea there was a game.
This game is basically it's own genre.
The graphical effects are too impressive for a SFC game. Never imagined a game like this existed in the platform.
This style of "fighting" game was pretty popular in Japan. Back when I was dabbling in PSX imports I ended up with a Fist of the North Star Game of a similar style.
Thank you I'll practice
I never played this on emulator, I actually bought the carts for this and the sequel with similar gameplay!
Fortunately, it was in a bundle with the other two YYH games that played like conventional 1v1 tournament fighters
I don't drink, but I do get SNES drunk!
That might be the best looking SNES game ever
Reminds me of some DBZ game, some flash Gundam game and SRW series...
NGMK was the dbz game a fighting game or the rpg using cards? That rpg was pretty fun...
@@Mepholar
I don't recall all that well, but I think it was one of the RPGs.
They were indeed fun, especially when you managed out manoeuvre tough enemy.
I remember ZNES back when I 1st heard about emulators
This game looks cool.
Samething found this back in the day reminds me of evil zone on ps1
Toguro... dayum he still is a badass looking XD
This looks pretty cool. Like a 1 on 1 fighting game if you replaced the button mashing with chess like intricate strategy.
YEEEES YUSUKE!
I need more of YYH 😭❤
Believe it or not, there's a pirated rom hack of this game called "pokemon stadium". I haven't played it myself, but the graphics suck and the gameplay probably suffers as well.
That music sounds like the battle music for Chrono Trigger
I still have the first version of this game.
I remember getting this one to play in ZSNES emulator maybe 20 years ago and my reaction was just like that: what the hell am I supposed to do?
Then I stick with the traditional fighting one in the Dark Chapter Arc (Sensui arc)
Yuyu Hakusho Final for the super famicom 👍
Thanks for this SNESDrunk. This game really confused me and still confuses me. I... kind of understand it now? Hahaha.
