- Yu Yu Hakuso is getting a Netflix adaptation in just a few days! So, my anime game loving butt had to sit down and comb through what was a shockingly small catalog of games for the show! WE NEED MORE!

I wish we had more Yu Yu Hakusho games, it’s such a legendary anime with a lot of cool characters. Imagine how cool of a game they could make today with it
i know, its nuts so few. i had 2 of them and they were quite good and my friends had one of the ps2 games.
There are many in Japanese. You could check if their emulations have an english patch.
Yu yu hakablow is a copied mix of dragonball and inyuasha.
@infernaldaedra everything has an inspiration haha. You could say dragon ball is a copy of journey to the west
@@mattneal4309 true I felt pretty dumb after I said that as humans we are generational beings lmao. Like how The Lion King is literally an abridged anime of Kimba the White Lion.
I had the Dark Tournament game growing up and enjoyed it. The anime is one of my favorites ever. Its a classic
I have loved DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh, YYH, Inuyasha and all those older 80’s and 90’s anime- it sucks that this set of games is so minuscule in scale- but it is truly interesting how they came to be.
no *Rave Master* ? 🤔
I put so much time in the YuYu Tournament tactics, I love the fact that you can pick from so many different characters from the dark tournament, and getting to utilize masked fighter/genkai was SICK.
Honestly my favorite game out of all of them that came out here
Mines too. Best Yu Yu Hakusho game imo
Same here!! I felt like a fuckin genius when i beat this game
@@tjflacid this was my first tactics style game I ever played haha it was amazing. Just finished it again 🔥
When you said you liked Sasuke and Vegeta, I was expecting Hiei to be your favorite character 😂😂😂
oh so that's really what he says, i was confused lol. I think Kurama is more like...Trunks, maybe 😂
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. I literally paused the video and had to think what I just heard 😂
I’ve always thought that if togashi was didn’t have health problems and was able to write the last saga the way he probably would have wanted, yu yu hakusho would have been the goat. Every arc before that was absolutely perfect
Just look at HxH!
Actually the health problems didn't really affect the ending of Yu Yu as much as the stress of writing 2 mangas at the same time. So he chose to wrap up yu yu post haste because it's already had a life span in order to make sure HxH came out unaffected. Now unfortunately that's when the health issues came about was after he did all of that work on yu yu AND HxH it caused his health to get worse. So his health didn't affect the end of yu yu the end of yu yu and beginning of HxH affected his health which in turn affected HxH down the road.
Good times with Dark Tournament. Man i remember putting in the no damage cheat against the 1st fight with togoro, that message that pops up saying you must be cheating because this fight is impossible is one of the coolest gaming memories i have
One thing about PS2/DVD cases of that era is that the discs popped in there snugly. So many games nowadays are rattling around in the box before I open them 😂.
They actually make em more lose cuz believe it or not people use to crack and scratch their games tryna get em out 😂
@@gabewyatt7974I remember always being worried about snapping the new game I just got lol they were in there snug
There are a lot of YuYu Hakusho games only in Japan. The Treasure developed games are the most notable from the early 90's and the DS Shonen Jump crossover games are really cool and fun to play.
Dude the Treasure developed fighter for Genesis absolutely rocks
As expected from a Treasure developed game, the music is incredible as always from Aki Hata to Norio Hanzawa.
th-cam.com/video/vD5OS6E0JkQ/w-d-xo.html
Im actually surprised Hiei didnt end up beung the one that caught your eye. I really think Kurama is one of the best characters in the series but Hiei was more your stereotype imo
Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite anime of all time. It's just so well balanced and fun, with a good ammount of progression to the world and characters.
It's not painfully short, and also doesn't drag on-and-on for a million seasons.
Perfectly rewatchable, good voice acting, compelling characters, good mix of action/drama, and a palatable style.
9.5/10, very solid anime.
Lots of amazing memories of tournament tactics as a kid !
I managed to drag myself through that PS2 game all the way to the last level, where I proceeded to get destroyed both in game and mentally in reality. Toguro is one of the most one sided fist fights I've ever experienced in a fighting game.
The developers really put as much emphasis on how powerful Toguro was as possible. It took me and some friends around 4 hours straight taking turns to finally cheese him and win 🤣
Bro you really be on it when it comes to the content creation. Respect
The younger Toguro fight of from the PS2 game...i still get flashbacks, it was stupidly hard. 😂😂😂
I grew up playing the snes yuyuhakusho games, my friend would get imports from japan along side snes DBZ games and the like. I couldn't read any Japanese but I had a hell of a time playing them.
Weird that they never make more Yu Yu Hakusho games. Guess it never gotten that much popularity, and recognition as DragonBall did. I loved this series, and I'm stoked to watch the live action Yu Yu Hakusho coming to Netflix.
These games are unknown to me. The games I played are from Gameboy and SNES.
I play Yuyu Hakusyo in megadrive when I child, the graphic look amazing and gameplay so nice at that time
The netflix live action show is AWESOME! They really nailed the characters and their costumes, and even tho they had to condense the first several arcs down into just 5 episodes, which obviously mean some changes to how the events play out (they can't exactly get a whole dark tournament arc in that few episodes), they did a great job adapting it to a live action format. This is what caring about source material looks like.
There's a Japanese only YYH game on PS2 called Yu Yu Hakusho Forever that's pretty good. I think it was developed by the same team that did the original 3 Budokai games, so, if you're able to, check that one out.
There's also a Super Famicon game which... it's name is escapiing me, but it's a pretty solid fighting game. Wayyyyyy better than any of the SNES era DBZ games.
Yup there is Yuyuhakusho Forever and Shitou Ankoku Bujutsukai
There were 3 SNES/Super Famicom games. One was just called Yu-Yu Hakusho, and it got a sequel called Yu-Yu Hakusho: Tokubetsu Hen. Both of those were essentially 3D rock-paper-scissors contests, but the third one, called Yu Yu Hakusho Final: Makai Saikyo Retsuden, that was a typical Street Fighter-esque 2D fighting game, and one I spent many many hours on when I was young. Great games.
@@CenturyBlade THAT'S THE ONE! YYH Final!
Thzt is a legit, great fighting game.
@@CenturyBlade The mega drive one that came out for Brazil and Japan is really cool
@@demtonedraft8015 The Treasure developed one? Yeah, that's also a really good one as well.
Classic Gameboy YuYu Hakusho games are the best! it has 4 games in total for Gameboy classic which covers all the arcs. awesome times.
The Yu Yu Hakusho games that were localized in the US aren't that good, but there are definitely some good ones that came out in Japan in the 90s. The Yu Yu fighting game on the Sega Genesis was a great game and was good enough to be apart of the Japanese MegaDrive mini that was released a few years ago.
I only ever played dark tournament on PS2, but I could never beat it as a kid lol.
it's unplayable it's not on you
Huge fan of anything Yu Yu Hakusho.. the only game I own is Yu Yu Hakusho Tournament Tactics on the GBA which I think is a gem.. Still play it from time to time nowadays.
Been following you since you were posting on instagram. The evolution of the project has been so much fun. Looking forward to what you do in the future.
I loved dark tournament on ps2. I always used to rent it but i definitely regret not tracking down a copy.
Wonderful series that needs more game representation. Same with Hunter x Hunter, too!
I love Yu Yu Hakusho the games are fun and your rite dark tournament is best , if I may recommend giving the Inuyasha games a spin .
Fun fact. One of the first fights in story mode where you fight Toguro, your really supposed to lose the fight and then the story progresses as usual but if your good enough(or like me and used cheat codes) it will take a little bit but you can actually defeat him and a different cutscene will playout. .
I’m just here for the GOAT anime content, that is all.
Its funny that this was uploaded. I was feelings 90s nostalgia and started this anime yesterday. So good
Love the retro throwback videos. Roundhill anime proud. 🔥🔥🔥
With the anime supposedly getting a remeastered version like ruroni kenshen, i hope we can get a storm style game with the meticulous detailed cutscenes. Though my monkey paw will be it will happen and look beautiful but the story will be the 3D models with text boxes over them and the boss fights might be the big fancy ones.
You did this and did not cover the Treasure-developed fighter for the Mega Drive. It had supers, four players, super-cancels, a combo counter, and different planes to fight on, before almost any of that was a thing. It's pretty easy to find a translated rom.
He's coming back! And I love it! Rewatching it was really Slepted on!
yu yu hakusho is one of my all time favs, so matty i just want to thank you for making this video
and can we just please talk about one of the most fire anime themes that is smile bomb 😮💨🔥
They had a number of YU YU hakusho games back in the early & mid 90's. On multiple stystems like PC's, Arcades, Handhelds, SNES, Genesis.
Can't wait for the Yu Yu Hakusho live action netflix show coming out in 4 days. Will definitely get a subscription to Netflix just for the Yu Yu Hakusho live action show!
I played the hell out of Tournament Tactics its incredibly fun and coverd the entitre tournament arc and even parts after.
Spirit Detective on Game Boy was my shit.
oh no Matty you need to try YuYuHakusho forever and Battle 120%
Those games really deserved english releases, Forever is basically and upgraded version of the Dark Tournament game.
@xxspiritgunxx632 I found out about these games just a few months, and they're amazing. I'm currently looking for the Cowboy bebop fighter
I loved playing Dark tournament when I was younger
12:50 so basically the dark tournament where everything was stacked against them
Man I can't believe you're going over this title!! Amazing!! I watched this anime for the first time 5 years ago and never played the game besides the Gameboy sp one
I've only played the PS2-titles, and there are two more follow-ups on the PS2 but they're in Japanese only, as they were never reelased outside of Japan - they're the same style just with more characters and later settings.
13:50 sounds like hiei should have been your guy... kurama is nothing like those other characters until his real form.
The one which came out for Mega Drive in Brazil and Japan is a great game and original style fighting game for its time. I love Tournament tactics. The beat em up on the game gear is unsatisfying. And Yu Yu Hakusho Forever on PS2 is cool
Fighting Younger Toguro in Dark Tournament is to this day still one of the most crushing fights I've ever experienced in a fighting game. Damn they didnt have to make that boss lore accurate 🤣.
I remember as a kid playing Yu Yu Hakusho Spirit Detective and being stuck on the Hiei fight for like a week
Yu Yu yessss.
If we going to even YuYu now, we gotta get a Zoids video at some point!
I still have dark tournament, and it still looks crisp. Thank you for bringing these games up 🔥
Man! I remember playing Yu Yu hawasho on the gameboy advanced so much..i even still have the cartridges!
The amount of content you could create around just the spirit detective arcs, everything before the dark tournament, both canonical and invented with closely associated creative license would be plenty for at least one excellent RPG or arpg, possibly two. Wish they would consider it.
As a newer fan of Anime ( grew up on Pokémon but that's about it. Just seriously got into it 2023), out of all the older shows, Yu Yu Hasuko just felt the most unique to me. I'm trying with DBZ and One Piece but idk I think I'll stick more with YYH in the long run because Yusuke and Kuwabara are wonderful characters I think.
My main favorite is Re Zero right now, but Hakusho is second or third.
I loved those games, some of my favorite games on the gba
Yukina was always a must for my team in tournament tactics. Good times.
I have VERY fond memories of playing Dark Tournament as a child. The mini game was super fun to play as well. Tournament Tactics was one of the games I had on game boy it was also my first experience with turnbased combat I didn’t really like it much but it grew on me it was just hard. I loaned it my bestfriend and he loved it. Another friend had Spirit Detective and I thought it was so cool. Funny thing is I didn’t get into the show until 2022 almost 20 years after playing the Tactics 😂
I never played the first one, but I loved the last two. The mini game in the Dark Tournament game was a lot of fun too. YYH is a top 10 anime for sure. Borderline 5 for me.
Tournament Tactics will forever be a classic
The best one was on the mega drive
3:17 so we arent going to mention the wierd driver
And the fact hes a floating head with hamds
Been looking for that Yu Yu Hakusho game for ps2 for years now I'm still looking
Kurama is the GOAT
I only ever had a GameCube so I never got to play the Dark Tournament game but it looks really fun I wish they would’ve done a gc version Yu Yu hakusho is a top 10 anime for me
Criminal that there’s not more of these games
There's alot more, the ps2 has a better fighting game than dark tournament. Most of the games are Japanese only
Yu Yu Hakusho: Sunset Fighters from Treasure was a banger.
i had tournament tactics as a kid back in the early 2000s. Kuwabara's sprite looks like Ricky from Trailer Park Boys lol
I love playing Yuu Yuu Hakusho Dai 4 Tama: Makai Touitsu on the original Gameboy.
I remember mastering some combos and ultimates 😅
Itd be nice to have more Yu Yu Hakusho games in the west. Thats ps2 game was the GOAT back in the day though
If you wanna try a really good adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho, go for the one released on the Sega Genesis. It's called Yu yu Hakusho Makyou Toitsusen. I loved this game back in the day. My cousin at some point got this PS2 game you show in the video, but we would simply play the one on Genesis instead, on an emulator.
If I remember correctly, you can have up to 4 players in the arena at the same time, as it was divided between foreground and background, and all the techniques and fighting styles were well represented in the game. You can get your way around even if you don't know Japanese (it's a fighting game, after all) and it's a great game to play with your pals.
Yu Yu Hakusho Makyou Toitsusen.
Honestly if the gameboy game was expanded and didn't have doo doo graphics it would of been pretty amazing
Tournament Tactics was so damn good. My first ever turn base RTS/Fire Emblem style game and it was so much fun
All these years I'm I didn't know yuyu hakusho had video games
The tournament tactics on gameboy advance were 🔥🔥🔥. I was going to replay this and dbz buus fury 🔥🔥🔥Wish they would make a great fighter on the ps, xbox, or steam
There’s a way to combo lock people in the first yu yu hakusho game, just tap the button wait half a second then tap again and the opponent stays stun locked
I saw what you did there 14:12, nice!
Yu Yu Hakusho FORVER is the best one ✊🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 PS2 legend
Toguro in the Dark Tournament game will BEAT THE SHIT out of you. I recommend learning Yusuke ‘s longest combo and spamming the shit out of it and the spirit gun. Even then, it takes a lucky run to put him down
I've never heard of this franchise and feel it's a deep cut but I LOVE Seeing these kinds of videos from you man
You've never heard of Yuyu Hakusho?! Seriously?!
Yeah lol, but I'm always up for broadening my horizon!! So now I do 😂
@@PodcastNow Yuyu Hakusho is one of the most popular anime of all time. Unbelievable. Are you living in a cave or something?!
The Yu Yu Hakusho Game Boy, SNES, Master System/Game Gear and Genesis/Mega Drive are good too. You should make a video about them.
If we got a western release of YYH: Forever I would’ve been happy for life
I would love for there to be a remake for all of these games.
The SFC/SNES Turn based fighters are really good. There also is Yu Yu Hakusho Forever and The Battle of Yuu Yuu Hakusho: Shitou! Ankoku Bujutsukai! 120% for PS2.
The SNES Yu Yu fighting games(Japanese) were the best, with evolving characters during the match, which superseded DBZ
Buus fury might be my favorite gba game
Give all 112 episodes in dub all non filler a real chance it'll stay with you
The only yu yu hakusho videogame I ever played was their fighting game on the SNES
I love this anime so much, i wish i got a chance to plau some of these when they came out. Im getting my steam deck soon, soo i may have to emulate some of these😁
No one chooses to grow a "goatee" like this guy. They're unable to grow a proper bears so they go with this.
My all time fav anime
the SEGA Genesis Yuyu Hakusho: Dark Tournament? (not sure about the title because the game that i played is in Japanese) that Fighting Game is a Banger!! Game mechanics and the Visuals are Awesome! 🔥🔥
Update: heres the name 👉Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyou Touitsusen - all Bad@ss Character are all in here this is the best for me 👌
Yu yu was a huge success in Brazil by the way
Wish they’d start making some YYH games again. Still my favorite anime.
the 4th game in the original Gameboy is my favorite
The best character by far is Kuwabara, "My names Kuwabara and I got a sword"
I think there is a NES YUYU Hakusho tournament fighter game where when you have low health you get your ultimate and all it is based in the sensui arc
Dsrk tourney ps2 was pretty good but playing as our boy in jumpforce is awesome not gonna lie you get his demon form and everything
Legendary anime; dark tournament was a good game for its time.
OMG!! Nickelback singer is the host of Retro Rebound 😄
