  • We are on the hunt to find delicious and traditional Icelandic foods right here in Reykjavik, whilst also giving you an idea on the costs of food and groceries here in Iceland.
First stop we headed to Kaffibrennslan to try or favourite thing ever...coffee of course before heading out to Vagninn on the water to try some street food fish and chips with remoulade pickled mayonnaise sauce.
Next up and the dish we were most excited to try was Lobstersoup from Seabaron as well as their Haddock fish kebab before heading off to the 10-11 grocery store to show you the cost of eggs, milk and bread and whilst we were there we had to try Skyr yoghurt and appelsin soda.
To end our food tour in Reykjavik we made our way to Cafe Loki to try Rye bread icecream and mashed fish on rye bread as well as herron with eggs.
Yes we realise there are a lot of strange Iceland food out there like fermented shark and horse head, in this video we just wanted to show you some delicious foods rather than the weird ones :)
    Where we ate:
    Coffee Spot: Kaffibrennslan
    Fish & Chips: Vagninn
Lobstersoup & Haddock Fish Kebab: Seabaron
    Grocery Store: 10-11 Grocery
    Rye Bread Icecream: Cafe Loki

Pro Tip: When shopping for groceries in Iceland I highly recommend going to either Bonus or Kronan. Both are easy to recognise because they are yellow. Much cheaper than the other supermarkets. Bonus is basically the Icelandic equivalent of ALDI.
Keep up the great work Jess and Stephen, much love from the Central Coast, NSW.

Me and my boyfriend went to Iceland last June, and we went to an amazing restaurant, very small and cozy, in the center of Reykjavík, where they actually served soup INSIDE a big bread bowl, there was no dishes to make at the end except for the spoon. It is called Svarta Kaffið and deserves every 5 star we've given it! The people there were so nice and I've never eaten a better soup!

So excited for all the Iceland vlogs! Travelled around the country last summer and it was absolutely amazing. Actually we had the warmest day ever in Iceland back then - 26 degrees and everyone were wearing shorts and t-shirts. We definitely weren't prepared for that kind of weather :P
Also, ryebread is pretty much our main food source in Denmark. Like, we have it every single day for lunch. Usually with remoulade and some kind of cold cuts or fish. This video just made me crave it so much, and I'm so happy to be coming back home for a few days next month. Living in Amsterdam, and they have no such thing here.

26 is not the warmest day ever in Iceland. In the capital area maybe, but that's because the western part of Iceland doesnt get so warm. Maybe it was the hottest day this summer in Iceland. We had days here this summer with 26-29 °C in the north and east region. The record in Iceland is 31°C.

A great food vlog about Iceland and looks like you both had a good time. The lobster soup is not unique to Iceland. The French do it also and they call it Lobster Bisque. It’s the same as what you both had, a creamy, tomato soup with lobster broth (stock) and if you are lucky some lobster chunks. I’m from Scotland and I had a nice lobster bisque from a seafood bar in North Berwick harbour near Edinburgh. It was expensive at £6 a portion with a roll and butter. You can buy cans of lobster bisque in supermarkets across the UK but not as good as homemade. I loved the fish kebab. Haddock is also a popular fish in Scotland, it is more cod they eat in England. The fish and chips looked amazing too but quite a thin piece of cod you both had. Coffee at 7 aus$ is expensive and sometimes you can pay that for a latte or cappuccino in coffee shops in the UK. I had a cafe creme at train station in France and it was 4 euros - a smaller coffee than what you both had and gave the waitress a euro tip. The coffee is expensive in Iceland but coffee is also expensive in France and some places in the UK.
