Your reminder that Arabs colonized the entirety of North Africa and most of Southwestern Asia. Excluding the Jews and the Persians, the entire SWANA, some 99.6 percent of the geography, is run by Arabs, whose original homeland is the peninsula taking on their name. Not a single one of these people bitching about "decolonization" mention the Kurds or the Assyrians or the Amazigh or the Copts or the Nubians nor a single one of the many Amazigh peoples.
"Palestine" is nothing but revanchism Arab imperialism, a colonial project of very angry colonizers who are real, real mad that they can't force one of the innumerable peoples they forced under hideous dhimmitude back into that situation. That's the truth. Nothing more needs to be said.
    Long live Israel.

Imagine my excitement in seeing TWO of my favourite contemporary thinkers engaging on a subject where the world has gone demonstrably insane.
Imagine then my utter disillusionment in finding out that both are
    a) pro “decolonisation”, and
    b) pro mass-immigration.
Profoundly depressing to hear this from such superior intellects.
The world of seemingly heterodox ex-academics is now wiilingly converging with the Woke on certain fronts - and I genuinely cannot understand why?

That's pretty much it. They find out what they're supposed to be for or against this week, and a few even learn to reel off a few lines about why.

There are claims of human rights violations by both sides. Many from both are unsubstantiated but still alarming. We live in an age where these are easier to report and this region has the most eyes in the world. The UN HRW is assembled of Middle Eastern countries that oppose Israel, so their claims of Israel committing the most war crimes in history deserves massive scrutiny. However, even if the correlations made between Israel and Nazi Germany are loose, how can their poor treatment of prisoners, Gazans, alleged bombings of hospitals, known housing districts, and mass civilian casualties be excused? Although it is the lesser of two evils, do they deserve our aid, which can be seen as encouragement, if they aren't using these increased resources to carry out and end this conflict with as little collateral as possible. I'm not sure if O'Neil has addressed this somewhere else but I still believe that, while Israel has a right to self defense and that Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran are evil and the aggressors, Israel is no Saint and should already have enough military prowess to defend itself at the current rate. Any funds from the US or NATO should be to ensure it is carried out as humanely as possible. While the Middle East is the disinformation capitol of the world, there is still alarming evidence of cruelty by IDF soldiers that needs to be taken very seriously.

Let's be real, human rights violations, war crimes, and such have never been enforced equally and it's why so few Israelis choose to respect the claims. When a Global North country does it, the ICC and other groups will jump at the opportunity. But let's take Indonesia for example, a country that is rife with human rights abuses by its government (to say nothing of countries like China). You'll never hear people argue for the same level of scrutiny from the international courts towards countries like that, because they're "developing postcolonial countries and really, what do you expect the growing pains of postcolonialism to look like?" Really? Is that the argument that the international community should make? That you should just get away with abusing your own people if you're a Global South country because "they're already suffering enough"? There's no universal standard there, if you live in a poor country you are just objectively allowed to get away more without being criticized. And people will say "well the US will never be punished for anything" and that's true, but there's a difference between "too militarily, politically, and economically powerful to enforce it even if you would REALLY like to" and "we're not even going to bring it up", because the Global South is the latter.
This is why Israeli historian Benny Morris says that he just straight up doesn't believe in international law, because the standards applied to Israel will NEVER be applied to its neighbors, so why respect or even acknowledge it in a world where there's one Jewish country and 28 Muslim countries and the Muslims countries will always vote together in solidarity against the Jewish one?

    • @womplad9864
      @womplad9864 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@SeruraRenge11 I see that position. Often, when people violated the Geneva Convention, all bets were off. However, I do think that these countries holding each other accountable is important but it could mean the difference between victory and failure. For the US, who mostly invades other countries, it's far less consequential than Israel, who has its existence at stake. However, when terrorists hide out in hospitals, mosques, use "journalists" as shields, Israel still attacks them. In the Iraq war, war journalists put their lives on the line to gather evidence of mosques being used as weapons caches. I hope Israel has taken similar accountability recently, especially due to the changing nature of humanitarianism and journalism. Even withstanding their alleged human rights violations, they have started and instigated wars in the Middle East with the US's backing. While this is the third invasion of Israel, it's not their first war. I still side with the IDF over Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran, and the Israeli people. However, I still believe the IDF and the Israeli government are corrupt even compared to the US and that neither side is doing Palestinians and Gazans any good. With the missile strikes to and from Iran, the entire Middle East is now in direct danger, which may draw more combatants into the fray. This could easily lead to US troops on the ground, without international support. Although international law may be meaningless, their missing troops and aid will be felt if the war is escalated and will affect American troops.

You're literally just describing war right now. That's what you have a problem with, is the act of war. Which, yeah, that's why people protest it, it's not like a nice thing, wars.
EDIT: The problem with your attempt at framing this though, is the people your blaming didn't START the war. They didn't start it in 1948, and they didn't start it on October 7th. In fact basically the only time they've ever been "the belligerent" party is when Sadat started lining up his entire tank corps on their border and they launched a preemptive strike.

The American way is against wars of aggression. I mean, our govt, our combined resources are for defending ourselves; not for any one of us to use in our own personal charities, wars, crusades, etc... Of course, that's not what's been going on, & that's a big problem.
Do Objectivists not understand this; do you not understand the reasonableness of such a way, our way?
& as far a "dual citizenship", I gave my reason, that we're not obligated to put someone first who doesn't put us first.
Sorry to disagree; I also, enjoy the engagement.
Wasn't it Aristotle who said "a friend to all is a friend to none". Well, I definitely don't want to be the Technofascist Israeli State's friend, & I'm surprised you would. Govt control currency, fascist censorship, limiting our resources, & the list goes on, unti this New World Order needs to fall...
Additionaly, has the Ayn Rand Institute been co-opted by the Israeli govt? Also, how do u view Palantir, millitary contractor, private company, agent of the state? Seems rife / govt to me. Chosen People only, Jews are specifically chosen for work @ Palantir ie suveliance state censorship technazi bs. Wtbs, when are Objectivist gonna do a bunch of shows damning that, the fascistic Palantir favoring one type of people to censor, surveil, & otherwise control the world?
You know this is fascism supporting censorship & not the free market, right? Why do Objectivists care so much about the Israeli state? It's a technocratic aparthied state, vax passports, mandated injections, heavily regulated, grossly propagandist. They were the worst of the fascist covid agenda, & support censorship abroad, here in Amer no less. They represent the worst of the West & need to be rejected because of it, not followed into the New World Order. Is such a state supported by Objectivism because if it is, I don't want any more objectivism in the US...
More specifically, if Israel has to take that much freedom to be "safe", than the enterprise is too unacceptable to the local market; in an economic sense I would call it a bubble. Bubbles burst of course, which is bad, but this one is taking our freedoms here in America now, lobbying our govt as well as the market itself ~ with ill gotten gains no less. against our freedom of speech, as well as that govt colluding with our own in the covid agenda, stupidly empowering our Govt & their own. Unbelievable harm & much less freedom going forward being the results.
In other words, the dog is biting, are you gonna keep it, than you're responsible.
To be clear, what amt of govt is too much, when do objectivists advocate we stand? It is unamerican to suggest there is no line, & it would lack objectivity as if there isn't a bridge too far. The fascist covid agenda brought us a bridge too far as American ideals portend...
Bottom line, the Israeli, US & other western technazi govts need to fall so we can get their boot off our neck & rebuild. However, here you are, acolytes of Ayn Rand who sought refuge with us, only to support this existing big govt evil set against us, supposedly against your or her principles & definitely against ours. (unless you're frauds)
Otherwise, Objectivism doesn't appear to be conducive w/ American values of small, limited govt. As an American you're supposed to be willing to fight against tyrannical governance, it is what naturalized citizens like Yaron Brook "Ayn Rand Institute" Director swore an oath to do. Perhaps you ought get out, move to Isreal, since you love it so much, go get a vaxpassport, a sex change, & a dunce cap. Your lesser of two evils is too evil for us.
If Media Matters or any other tool of censorship operates on govt or other ill gotten gains, the act is force & its criminal to use force against someone's free speech. Seems like Objectivists are excusing fascism; not holding it, fascism, accountable for the censorship, & covid agenda obviously sponsored for it. Wtf. First, Objectivists train Greenspan to betray us to the Federal Reserve & now here you are screaming support for the techocratic surveliance state of aparthied Israel while fascists run a muck. What gives? Do you really believe in Capitalism, in Indivualism, in Egoism, or are you just frauds, purposely misleading Americans into tyranny?
The Israeli govt is ruthless, like a viscous dog, willing to harm so many so far removed from those who targeted them that they're seeing enemies behind every bush, everyone is suspect or subject to be killed.
Take Jeffrey Epstein, the likely Mossad spy; the Isreali govt along w/ the US spy agencies no doubt, were sexually enslaving children for their honeypot schemes.
Strange how Mossad was supposed to be about killing Nazis, yet George Soros, the Ukrainian Azov Battallion, & some guy honored in the Canadian parliament, all Nazis & apparently unscathed by the fraudulent supposed Nazi hunter Mossad.
Has the Israeli govt blackmailed people around the world into supporting the Technocratic & Fascist 5 Eyes New World Order?
The Amer people are not responsible for being the police of the world, nor are we obligated to defend Israelis because they seem to be at war w/ Islamists, even though Islamists committ child marriage, terrorist acts & other such things. We ought instead be for the downfall of Western 5 Eyes govts & Israel. These technocratic surveliance states who are coalescing into the NWO, taking American's freedoms ie lives in the doing. I would think any freedom advocate would agree with that.
Objectivists for the NWO & against American Free Speech? The Israeli govt is the just about the biggest govt there is, surveilance, border control, forced medical experiments, lockdowns, forced masking worst of the Western Countries I do believe. Does that sound capitalist, free market, to you, the apartheid state of Israel? Yet, Objectivists support it.
From where I sit in American that makes an Authoritarian govt that needs to fall. Furthermore, like Britian & the rest of the 5 Eyes, countries which work together to among other things, invade their own citizen's privacy, the Israeli govt works w/ our own, the Amer govt, against Americans freedoms which includes censoring Americans speech, as if critising the Israeli state is racist, yet still you support it.
If, "still could be worse" is your argument. Did I mention our govt like the Israeli & other Western govts slotted for New World Order supremacy, are manipulating our children into medical sex change. If you disagree, they'll steal your child & do it anyway.
Speaking of parental rights or the lack thereof, they're still coercing your Big Govt TrumpJab on kids. They threatened to take your child for that too, in some instances if you didn't submit~like you Objectivists like to do. Parents have no rights in your NWO, our govt already steals children from the father seemingly in every chance it gets .
No one else has rights in your Objectivists technostate either. Weren't they putting people in camps there. They're building fema concentration camps here. Weren't they already putting defenseless (unarmed) brits into these quarantine camps there. Lol, f' that. You can love the Bobbis or whatever you call Police there if you want to but that's on you. Literally, as you can see, I'm blaming you.
I'd rather fight than live on my knees. I'll not accept your chains to keep me from some worse fate. Funny how our govts just seem to permit if not create threats just to get us to accept their totalitarian controls evermore. Bet you wish you had your guns now.
Did I mention, the Israelis were made defenseless by their govt disarming them like what's happened in Britian, Australia, & Canada too.
To end, our Western Govts have gotten too big & they need to fall, if you support them then you can fall too. Hamas isn't at my door, your govt henchman are. First things first.
What do you have to say for yourself? You've no answer & that is why I will drive your objectivist authoritarianism like libertarian passivity from our land, by offering perspective. Now you know, Americans are supposed to pick up arms against our own government if our govt becomes tyrannical such as in attempting to disarm or forcing medical experiments on us, & I plan on holding us to those standards.
