Leftist are always kind of mad; they believe in the new promised land; socialist paradise, and they claim to know the True Way to take us there. Based on that conviction, they behave like the Church of the Inquisition, they are evil, infidels and therefore any who dispute the tenets of the Left they are considered "deplorables" as Hillary put it so well. They now now this is the last battle; either the Left prevails or dies forever.

Seeing more people express similar opinions is a real relief for me, so I appreciate your comment. The past seven years have felt like the American political parties have been existing in two entire separate realities that are in constant conflict with each other. This has not been a simple divergence of opinions or positions, but a situation where two people can witness the same event and come away with two wildly different, irreconcilable interpretations. For people like me who could see it as it happened, it has been alarming and disturbing, and regardless of whether it was censorship or propaganda or something else creating a blind spot for me or anyone else, I am glad to be seeing more comments like yours.
The way they went after Matt Taibi helped people see that it was not a right vs left thing. In my opinion it never was. One side has to allow it for the other to get away with it, and when someone is locked into a one sided view they help prop up a double standard that hurts everyone. The public private partnership between big tech and government gives us much to consider. I hope to see the conversations shift, and become more productive, going forward. Unlike many other people, I never hated others for having opposing political beliefs, and I didn't allow their hostility to affect me personally, because I am of the opinion that it is an artificially engineered hostility that stems from the propaganda and censorship that only some of the people could see. We have to be careful not to get caught up in the prescribed arguments and talking points saturating the threads on the platforms, mostly by the automated chat bot and zombie networks driving them. We also have to consider the opinions and arguments that are hidden from our view in the process. It isn't so much that I thought there was no one else out there who saw things like I did, just that I was prevented from seeing their posts or engaging in dialogue. So, again, boy am I glad to see your comment. Cheers!

I'm a Trump supporter, center right, and follow Matt Taibbi. Also, I like Robert Kennedy Jr. Nick Gillespie just asked "What's the deal with Trump supporters also supporting Kennedy." (FYI, Trump supports Kennedy, as well; he would like Kennedy as his VP-- that would be ideal.) Briefly, I support both Trump and Kennedy because they are authentic and, in spite of their economic status, they both show respect for the middle class. Also, when asked about Trump, Kennedy didn't spout hate, he actually said, in part, I like him. He knew that showed respect for Trump voters. That was his concern. Ask Biden about Trump, Biden has no concern about Trump voters. Kennedy respects the people and attacks the issues. Trump supports the people. Trump said/says, "They're not only coming after me, they're coming after you, I'm just in their way." I believed him and so did 70,999,999 other Trump voters. We see what the Biden Administration did to the Supreme Court nominees, Supreme Court Justices at their own homes, watching the congressional hearing with Taibbi and Shellenberger. Covid shutdowns. The attacks on the First Amendment using the FBI and social media to censor "misinformation". And most of all, January 6. Beside the arrests which are egregious enough, they get Bank of America to track the movements of people going to a rally to aid in arrests. We see the proof of Trump's statement. The Democrat party is not the party of the your parents, trite but profoundly true. Vote Democrat in your state but don't vote for Joe Biden if Kennedy doesn't get the nomination of your party. Take care.

I was very conflicted about Matt Taibbi coming under attack and helping to lead to the hearing on what all is under attack regarding our freedom of speech and otherwise. I've been a decades long fan of his writing. So as soon as the same party he was defending with excellent rolling Stone articles and going after all the special interest things that the Democratic party claimed to be interested in going after, no being attacked by that same party. The silver lining when this all started to come out was I expected this to be the shining light I see it to be hinting at how widespread and deep this goes and that people would immediately like I did start reevaluating perspective and switch parties. Then it shows exactly who all in the current administrations we can't trust. That would be several. Yet many are getting away with it. it doesn't seem like enough people are aware of the hearing and all the coverage Matt's team and have worked hard to expose. Really proud of those heroes and our Senate representatives working on that I believe Jim Jones is one.

Just the fact that most young people believe there is actually something called hate speech backs up my point. The fact that they equate "I disagree with you" to mean the same thing as "I hate you" also means they aren't getting a whole lot of emphasis in learning English either.

Both grifters. Talibi is less so because he crossed Elon and got canceled for it so his career is just trying to survive at this point. Greenwald basically was gifted stolen intel and reported on stuff that PBS was reporting on for years in regards to the Patriot Act: the U.S. government can spy on you without your consent. He was just in the right place at the right time.

People like JFK or RFK or [insert famous liberal] are considered old, dead white men and worthless. We now have a leftist party (though they could be worse) vs. a rightist party. Great . . .

I am a lifelong conservative, and my favorite reporters are all avowed lefties: Matt Taibbi, Glenn Greenwald, Bari Weis and Michael Schellenberger. These are my Big Four and are keeping true to what journalism was always supposed to be: by keeping ideology out of their content and attacking nonsense wherever it originates, left or right, with deep understanding, exceptional knowledge and tenacity. Reading ethical journalists who don't shy away from truthfully reporting difficult topics is a breath of fresh air. Compared to the absolute shit we get from cable news, these four journalists are like a Ruth's Chris ribeye vs. a Quarter-Pounder.

Hitchens called himself a Socialist, or even Trotskyist early in his career, and Hunter Thompson certainly leaned Democratic (with a strong Libertarian streak) and hated Nixon above all others. Both great journalists, in addition to those you already mentioned. Edit: I neglected to mention George Orwell, who also called himself a Socialist but remains the gold standard for honest political journalism and clear writing.

    • @mattjack3983

It's absolutely crazy what the Left and the Democratic Party has become. The Left used to be the champions of free speech! There was nothing more liberal than having the right to voice your opinions, regardless of what they were, regardless of what anyone thought, or who was offended by it. Free Speech was at one time the bedrock of being a liberal, and one of the core values of the Democratic Party and those on the Left.
And now we are surprised to see someone on the Left standing up and defending the right to Free Speech! We are at place where tradional liberal values have become more in line with the values of the Republican Party than the Democratic Party! And the Democrat Party has become a party of censorship and authoritarianism. Its considered to be "extremist" or "radical" to believe in Free Speech, and it's become completely acceptable to the Democratic Party to silence those who oppose them, with violence if necessary. Wtf kind of clown world are we living in here?
