Lexus/Toyota EVAP Leak P0442/P0456 (3MZ-FE) 2004-2010

- Hello TH-cam,
Today, we are locating an EVAP Leak on our $500 2005 Lexus ES330 that we picked up last year. The quick and easy method for locating any kind of EVAP leak is to utilize a smoke machine. This will help identify the issue and save you tons of time looking around at all the various vacuum lines to try to find a bad connection. It only took a few seconds to locate the bad vent hose on our Lexus, which would have been very difficult to see since the split was located on the bottom of the vent hose.

if you dont have a smoke machine, its honestly easier and cheaper to replace all the hoses. takes a bit of time but i did that on my car and it was fun and fixed the problem, plus have all new silicone hoses under the hood
Thanks for the comments, it definitely wouldn't hurt to change out all those vacuum lines. With any 20 year old car, things are bound to be dry rotted and cracking.

Smoke machine makes things easy for sure.
Thanks for the comments, we would have spent hours looking for that little slit in the hose. Especially since it was located on the bottom of the hose, the smoke machine takes out the guess work.

Hi, I have this problem on my 06 ES 330. I live in Massachusetts 😟😟
Hey David, sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Lexus. We would take a look at those common vacuum lines under the engine cover to see if you can locate any deteriorating hoses. You might be able to locate a bad hose even without the smoke machine.
