I had a huge leak code. 2002 vw 1.8t. I smoke it with harbor freight multi use transfer pump. I can't afford a fancy smoke machine. Anyway, 2 obvious hoses from the leak detection pump were deteriorated with holes. The least obvious was the gas cap seal. Good luck to you all.
I refilled my w204 to full tank 2 days ago and there was a huge leak of fuel from underneath the car while refueling and this continued until gauge dropped to about 3/4 of a tank , please help
Thank you Eric, good video Suggestion would be to have extended the video a little bit to then show the process of testing the purge valve in the engine bay which most people have access to, as not to many people have lift to be able to take out the charcoal canister. And to do a visual inspection of the rubber tubing in the engine area as most old car the rubber gets old and hard and cracks. Thank you
I had the p0456, then I replace the fuel cap. Another code pop up which is p0442, it was two little hoses in the engine which was cracking up because my cars a 21 years old and those two hoses has never been replaced, I just replaced that and clear the codes. I’ll have to see if the codes pops up again
P0456 code small leak checked hoses even replaced the vapor canister and the purge valve I suspect it’s the fuel tank pressure sensor because after erasing the code it comes on after 100miles then goes away after 100miles then comes back again after 100miles and stays
Hi professor Erick thanks for this helpful information but can u tell me I'm working on 11 Mercedes c300 po455 I did smoke test I didn't see no leak but I replace gas cup and check purge valve and is good what else should I do pls help me

Hello- I’m getting that P0442 code. I have bought another gas cap. When I take off in my 2010 srx cadillac like it stuggling to get air. It does it only on take off. Then smoothes out. I changed purge valve, map sensor. and when I turn heat on its smells musty. I did change the air filter & cabin filter.

The fuel tank pressure sensor could be an issue and not flag a code for the sensor itself. If the sensor was stuck it could show a leak when in fact there isn’t one.
Hi Eric let’s my question to you I got 2012 Acura tl Sh-AWD3.7l with code P0456 done with Purge Valve Solenoid replacement after a week later the same code pup back.I continue smoke test under Purge Valve hose running way back to charcoal canister areas I see smoke came out from there.i try figure out to remove& replace it look like I have to remove all rear Suspension rear Drive Shaft & whole exhaust Resonator Mufflers all Down! That’s how the Process to tell me to that do?

Got a P0456 on a capless fuel filler. Still great information!
Can this P0456 be caused by allowing the car to sit for 6-8 weeks at a time between drives?
