  • As per my insta following requests, this is a general explanation of how i made Lucy's VFX shots, especially the trickiest one - the dumpster scene. All done in Zbrush, Substance, Houdini and Octane.
Sound by Joakim Karud - Great Days and Goodjohn Productions - Felony.

Your work is amazing man! 😮😊
    It’s so insanely realistic!
How & where did you rig this?

thanks a lot! The monster is a fully procedural, keyframeless, rigless and boneless. Its only controlled by forces that i apply inside vellum solver on different parts of the body. Similar to how a puppeteer pulls strings to make arms move, the same way i just group a lot of points and apply controlled vector forces in specific time and space. The setup is quite complex , but adaptive to different terrain, obstacles and so on. Definitely not something you would do in production )))

ITS SO COOL How did you manage to make emitting slime vellum sim with ripping? I searched all over the Internet about saliva in houdini, but I didn't find anything sensible, and my knowledge of vellum remains at a basic level. You will be my savior, because my dream is to start, to learn how to make realistic life-adding simulations of slime and saliva on animated monsters. I'm a fan of breakdowns of stranger things series. There are amazingly crafted monsters including simulations of various saliva. Therefore, I need help from professional, one day I will become a pro too, so that’s my dream, but for now I suffer wandering through various vellum tutorials on various forums.

I'll add this to my list of tutorials i have to make. The emitting part is a little complex, but i haven't used anything special for it. I'll do my best to make a tutorial on this . Thank you

I sometimes forget how much a generalist is required to know about everything and constantly update the knowledge by adapting to newer tech. It took me a while to find my own workflow and it's a never ending journey)) Thanks a lot!
