    Thanks for the longer form video. Creators that are brave enough to make videos of duration should be celebrated, those of us that like/want/need longer content to make it through the day should be making our voices heard. The almighty algorithm isn't right on everything...

    That’s why I have my PlayStation five and PS4 Pro hooked up to monster surge protector I paid almost 3 or $400 for it if you love your electronics you should always have a surge protector to protect you against lightning strikes and it being insured through monster power surge protectors they were the best

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I agree, a lightning rod would work wonders on the side of the building too

    • @footballasylum6239
      @footballasylum6239 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dude u well overpaid you can get magnets that clip onto your hdmi for £20 and extension surge protectors which are also covered by your insurance as long as there licensed for £25 for each room, I had a lightning strike it blew my router my ps4 which had every part replaced by insurance before it ran out it was a 3 year what I got when I bought it was connected via ethernet it blew that but was connected to my tv with a hdmi with 2 surge protectors one on each end what saved my tv, now in my gaming room my ps5 and Oled TV were £2500 on there own so I defo trust these surge extensions as they have a side button and when there's a surge it switches off immediately, I sent my ps4 to CEX and said it was unfixable? This was before I found my man here but if your happy spending $400 good on you but surge extensions do just a good a job at a lot cheaper

I really hope it isn’t busted because the Tv is one thing, but the PS5 is more of a pain to replace. Thanks

    I've had way too many storm damaged ps5s in my workshop last week. And like yourself spend way too much time on them. All with different issues. From blown power supply's to encoders and southbridges. Ps5 are a bit sensitive to power surges it seems. Glad to know those chips are real as I've got some coming from Ali too.

    Hi Phil - Glad to see the edited version of this...watching it live for those hours with you was rough, but I always learn something from your vids. lol
    Question though, was this video a combo of both PS5 systems? I don't know if I'm missing something or if someone else has already mentioned this, but in most of the video you were looking for a short and you had swapped the South Bridge from a PS5 donor board that you reballed and you mentioned it was the only one you have and if the customer isn't paying you weren't leaving it (for obvious reasons). But then at the end, you mention the chips were real and looking through the comments below and the link to the chip you listed on AliExpress it's all about the HDMI Encoder. So I'm just a little confused..more then normal. hahahahaha So, was this PS5 fixed in the end with the HDMI Encoder or the South Bridge? Thanks! 🙂

    Having a lighting struck ps5 going to sony for repair. I didnt tell them it got struck by lighting. My question is do you think they can tell it was struck by lightning? The other video the power supply was out. For all they know it could be a faulty power supply.

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's under warranty I'd say they'll probably verify it isn't liquid damaged and just replace it to be honest. Not to hate on the repair center techs but most of them aren't really qualified or experienced enough to tell to be honest

    Off the wall question:
    If the signal comes off the APU as a DisplayPort signal, is it theoretically possible (with heavy modding) to replace the HDMI port with a DisplayPort connector and bypass the encoder entirely?

      Thanks mate. Yeah I would definitely recommend getting back into repairs. Even if you don't have the right equipment, just take a shot and build your equipment up as you go along on the journey. That's how I did it because I couldn't afford to pay for decent tools

    Very impressive fix Phil, I honestly thought it was a write off after the encoder didn't fix it. Pleased you managed to find some legit encoders and fingers crossed you get payed what you deserve for this repair bud.

      Thanks buddy much appreciated. Yeah I was genuinely gutted when the encoder alone didn't fix the issue

    I'm only 10 mins in, but as you suspected it was HDMI.
    I wonder if it is possible that the lightning travelled through the TV aerial to the TV HDMI and caused the PS5 HDMI encoder to sh!t the bed.
    Edit. Also the safe bridge.

    Yo, good work! The same problem it starts all voltages present and south bridge seems to be ok. I got only beep signal and blue light, 5 sec after it shuts down. But after 10-20 attempts to run, it showed image and says software update 70 .. 100 and switched off. And starts the same only for 5 seconds. I checked all fuses no short line and nothing got hot. I saw winbond spi rom right behind south bridge you changed. Do you know can I program spi chip? And what dump I should to use? Thank appreciate
