Hi Phil, very very impressive repair. Must have taken lots of practice to solder like that under a microscope. Keep it up because we really like these kind of fixes. Cheers
Nice find. I never find consoles or anything salvageable. I was just watching another channel who restores stuff and he always finds consoles just lying by the side of the road. They're a bit muddy but usually just a quick scrub in a bucket and they're working like new again. I think he's in Asia or somewhere.
Thanks mate. I love when I find stuff like this, it makes great content seeing how bad they are lol. Do you have the channel name to the other channel you watch? I love finding new channels to watch lol

You need fine tip soldering iron for those tiny traces on the HDMI connector. I do some electronics work but i avoid surface mount because i think it's junk. Tried to fix a flatscreen TV but I couldn't fix it so I just made a light out of it.
When I say "oh dear this is going to take a lot of work" it usually means yesss project....it's exciting fixing something up that would otherwise would go to landfill. Just saying although in my case it's bicycle's.
Last traces I repaired was my own fault, lifted pads while modding a PAL Sega Saturn about 8yrs back. Nice work 👍 Wonder how many ps4s have been left down at the local tip.... ✌️
When i was teaching guys to do this many moons ago. I would always tell them to work from left to right if they were right handed. Also i would do pre-redesigned motherboards so maybe two three hundred traces. And it had to be very neat. I would use wire wrap wire which had ptfe coating. 240 pin ic half mil pitch, wires going everywhere. But we had to loom the wires glue the harness to the board. At the beginning these would go out as final product for that version run. One board would take me two to three days. Look beautiful in its own way.

Just goes to show what stuff can still be fixed!!! I hope i can get my titanium blue controller working again sometime. Probably needs a board swap for me but you would probably be able to replace a burnt out charging chip on the main board. The daughter board with the usb port still works though on a different controller. So sad my new powerbank decided to give it too much😅
To be honest it definitely would work out cheaper to do a board swap. The repair itself you would need to factor in parts and labour and then shipping costs too, but new boards can be purchased fairly cheap online. Sucks but thats the problem with controllers, it's impossible to make it a financially viable repair
