what are environmentalists ignoring? deforestation is a massive problem. especially for these precious places that remain untouched by industrial society.
@@riotdrone Mainstream environmental discourse tends to ignore quite a lot of the major problems, and there's even a term for it "green washing". A lot of supposed "environmentalists" also support development policies like New Urbanism, which has grown very popular in recent years especially on TH-cam, and which advocates for eliminating zoning laws and deregulating the housing and construction industries to allow developers and landlords to build more housing, more quickly, at higher densities. They call this process "upzoning" and it is often justified by highly questionable appeals to environmental or social justice concerns. Needless to say, eliminating zoning laws and building regulations would greatly increase the volume of construction and deforestation, while reducing the precautions taken during such projects. Some scholars and environmentalists have criticized these practices, but they've gained a lot of ground amongst the general public and less scientifically informed individuals who might genuinely be concerned about the environment. There are plenty of similar examples too. E.g. a lot of environmental activists claim that eating meat is a huge problem and one of the main drivers of climate change, but we have tons of data on these matters and it's quite clear that cows and goats are not the problem. In fact, if you look at government reports and scholarly research on the issue they tend to echo that position, but the fossil fuel lobby and other greenhouse-intensive industries that produce a lot of pollution have been really successful in convincing the general public that it's not huge skyscrapers, and factories, and jet engines, and shipping cheap products thousands of miles across the globe that is the problem, but rather the cows. Don't get me wrong - there are significant problems with modern farming but those problems are mainly related to factory farming and the used of pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, etc. Factory farming absolutely should be eliminated and replaced with more sustainable forms of agriculture, but the idea that cows or meat consumption are one of the main problems is just ludicrous, is not supported by the actual scientific data, and is being used by multinational corporations and billionaires to push the blame for environmental destruction onto individual consumers, and thereby eliminate corporations and the government from blame or scrutiny. Presumably, if left to its own devices, "secondary" rainforest would become "primary" rainforest in a few decades?
Yes, but governments are only elected for a few years at a time, so they don't often design policies that will be beneficial in decades' time. They make their money off of selling secondary forest and then get replaced in the next election. Repeat over and over
Not enough kick-backs for local government.
Always picking on Mennonites no matter what century or continent.. I'd know I'm partially descended from Chortitza Mennonites who moved to Canada in the 1920's after being run out of Russia by the Commies...
Bro for like 4 years 😢i tryd to see what all had transpired cause i saw the start i love how manly and uncaring for tech
I wish these fine folks all the best life after the WEF ravages most of humanity
I know right, when they originally fled Germany and the Netherlands in the 1600's......they were fleeing the "English". Which we now know was the very beginning of the control center of the WEF and others involved with globalization, globohomo, masonic secret societies, etc....
Amen to that. Mennonites and alike are a modern day Ark in a sea of sin and destruction
They lie as it is convenient for them.
Que bonito se ve. Los terrenos todos ordenados,la grama cortada, cultivados ;al estilo Americano y Canadiense. Diferente a l estilo de el campecino Latino Americano
They are living peacefully these environmentalists would have allowed builders and business owners easily and question these peaceful people.
Amazon forest
Is not suitable for extensive agriculture
Of course it is. Any forest south of the arctic circle is.
@@raraszek Yeah at a cost to killing our planet which will eventually lead to the death of us.
@@LittleDogfan101 right 😂😂😂
It's only suitable when people with the right skin colour live off of it, right?
Come up to the USA. ? There are other Mennonites here.
They may be thriving but the state of the forest they have left it in is terrible really they need to change some ways to be a bit more sustainable so native animals can survive and the old forests
They will manage.
How can 100 family needs 30km2 of lands for farming?

I watched the video of them leaving to live here a moment ago. There were a lot of trees. But yes it looked clear cut but not that large of a plot. Such a hard way of looking at it. Stop chopping down the trees!!!!
Did you ever try to grow crops under a tree?
God please be with the Mennonites.
I love Mennonites. God bless them and multiply them ❤
The Mennonites, a religious group often associated with organized agricultural activity, have started three new colonies in the Peruvian Amazon. We have documented the deforestation of 8,500 acres (3,440 hectares) in these three colonies over the past four years (updated October 2020).25 Aug 2023
this makes no sense to be alone in the rainforest, with such a small population size
I can imagine how sinfully to you could seem many of your who knows with whom intermixed fellow mennonite people
nevertheless come back to Chihuahua,Durango where your homeland is since 1922 - or let come 10 000 of your kind to your new land. Join another small community in Colombia and with them go to Bolivia where already 100 000 of your own are
Enviros always attacking production orientated peoples while they have no skills themselves.
No, "enviros" that go to school and study the land as their discipline protect the land that's supposed to protect all of us while you ramblers who don't go to school keep supporting horrible practices that will be downfall of our species.
@@LittleDogfan101" professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." That sums up your comment.
I saw the documentary of when they bought that land and it was completely forested. Why didn't leave some patches of trees for shade and and Help retain Moisture in the soil ,stop run off etc. I was excited to see how theybuilt their community, But this only looks sad to me.
AGREE'🍃
Is not how it works, not all trees are economically viable, loggers take the few that are worth and leave 95% of the rest. This is secondary forest already.

your spanish is so......
they should just farm in America. huge lands with nothing on it
Tech moguls own most of the farmland in the US
USA forbids teaching German languages since 1917. Mennonites would not be allowed to keep their language
They need to cut down so much rain forest for their farmland everything else is good with them
This green hell needs to be cleared and plowed and populated with godly people ❤ 💟
Founded 500 yrs ago? All the fault of Luther. How sad they never ask what about the previous 1500 yrs? Everything stops for them back to 500 yrs ago. They seem to be nice people.
I think it was extremely selfish of the adults to completely remove the children from society. They are now imprisoned, i in a rain forest, within their father's dream.
Hay ciudades allí.
Peru has 600 000 km2 of Amazon, the Mennonites can use 40km2 maybe 400km2 in 50-70 years, its fine.
Its not, they moved out of México because they are starving, they focus on profit, they have so much land they could grow every fruit and vegetable for their rightful living, and then some. but they are greedy, they dont focus on 2-3 acres of land, which can surely provide for their survival, they want it all for themselves, and for profit, ask yourself why they only grow corn,?, profit- these are God fearing people, why do they need money if they are resourceful. People say they are helping the communities around them, no, they help themselves, my great grandfather lent them his land,? Why- they had more land than he did, greed. They hate mingling with their host, just like the jews- but love a great deal, they will destroy themselves eventually just like the amish- same ordeal- they dont fit anymore, they have so much land they could feed the world.
Meh, I'd think they'd be valuable to keep in any country... if electricity suddenly becomes completely disrupted, international farming is interrupted, those "backward" people can teach others how to survive.
Yes, I live by Mennonites, they have taught me tons
They don’t want integrate to Peruvian society and the feel we need, they teach us how to live in pues country.
Pónganlos a bailar los pasitos del Delfín, y ya verás 🤣😝
@Alden Horwitz diversity work in both ways and they don’t want be open and change, you claim for something you don’t want to give.
@Alden Horwitz stop be a white supremacits bigot they migrate to other country , thy have to accept the reality.
What is Peruvian society? Many people groups don't wish to assimilate to their surroudnings. Look at India, Iran, Middle East, North America (ghettos of various cultures). Why so ignorant?
@@ML-ov7wo what about to learn the language of the country or be educate in the government program ? Tell me any community around the world don’t assimilate this two things …. These are such beautiful people.😍😍🤩🤩
The Mennonite’s ways of thinking needs adjust to 21st century realities. . Clear cutting jungles /forest for short term agricultural needs no longer serves the long term purpose of reducing global warming . You can farm smaller land with greater productivity .
it's nice to see them, but how many animals died because of them? also they are cutting alot of trees!!
in less than 100 years how many mennonites they will be? how many (more) land they will need? if each of them has minimum 7 childrens
and? If you dont like it then have children yourself
Why are yall blaming menonites for one stretch of land..you know how much of the Forrest has actually been destroyed by Peruvian natives, poachers and ect?? Yes they cleared land to live on vut you act like they're constantly expanding taking more

They have Russian citizenship actually. They left Russia in the 1920s to Canada, and after that to Latin America
